In theory wouldn't you be able to order the cells online and rebuild the pack? Curious what the cost comparison on that would be vs when I would rebuild a Ni-MH pack.

@g60scuzz Sorry, no can't do, the controller inside the battery pack (benchmarq/TI) is write protected and write-one, so you won't be able to reflash the controller with a data cable and tell it that the cells are new, so the running time will be the same as before you changed out the cells.

Now that you said it, I had to look it up: the energy content (per kg) of the strongest explosives is about ten times that of an charged LiPo battery.

And just to put things in perspective (and to show that energy content isn't all there's to it), gasoline and diesel have even ten times more than that! So better fill your laptop up with gas! (except for macs, semtex is okay for them ;-) )

Just an idea relating to this.

Maybe in the new lab you should have a fire rated enclosure, something like a fume hood, then have the autopsy table near it, if something goes critical you can chuck it in, hit the ventilation and the CO2 or whatever, the hood should contain a camera too, especially if you decide to autopsy something in the hood.
