  • lovely animation!

  • Great job. I love it.

  • good stuff man o_o

  • it took a week as I only worked on it an hour or so every day. I had to design the art, then hand animate about a hundred masks. It's fairly simple and I could probely do the same animation in about a day if i were to revisit this now

  • @stephenbosco

WOW! It took quite a long!

I assume every leaf is a separate object(layer) or so...

  • How long did this take to make? Just wondering, since it was very good and straight to the point.

  • It was created with Illustrator, & After Effects a few years ago. It took about a week, working a few hours every day.

  • Do you think you could make a tutorial? Cause I really like stuff like this.

  • @stephenbosco

1 week for this short video

is it really that hard :x

  • pretty!~

I how did you do it?

  • nice, pretty sweet.

  • looks like a loading screen on a game ^^

    Anyways its a great piece!

  • How long did this take? It's really good!

  • Well I now know some better things to put in Videos with after affects

  • Wow ... this is amazing :DDD awesome job!

  • nice . . . Try to add Music . . .

  • Nice, I saw a flash prof. who did something similar. Would you say animating organic shapes is a recent trend in the arts?

  • also depth of field.. :)

  • Very nice. You should add some music to it

  • Looks Great. I love the color shades. very nicely blended ;)

  • You HAVE to love the adobe master collection. I do! I have an awesome tutorial for all you that want to learn this stuff, it's called a COLLEGE DIPLOMA, now go BUY one. Nice job on the mask revealers man!!

  • I love the Master Collection too - it's great combining all the software together - make art in illustrator, then plop it into After Effects with bridge, etc. etc.

  • a college diploma is absolutly useless without talent. atleast you can be arrogant. poor guy

  • You could say the same of the opposite. Luckily that I am finishing school I have both. What do you have? Arrogant you call it, I call it smart. Don't hate the player. :)

  • the white flowers that blow past look like the weighted companion cube... :/

  • I really badly need to do something like this. You know where I could find a good tutorial?

  • omg, see how many people here are trying to steal this work, insane ... good job though :)

  • for a second thougts it looked like a loading screen of a game!!!!!!

    nice work

  • hahah dude this is cool...i thought those lil flyin flowers were the square thing of portal lol

  • ya if you pay him.

  • can you give us a download link for this? :D

  • Nice short animation. Light and pleasing to the eye.

  • hey guys check out my after affects intro its nothing specil but it would help if it got veiws also i got a halo 3 monatge =]

  • wow that looks great!

  • how i can make this too?

  • There are some great tutorials on the Creative Cow Forum, One in particular by Jayse Hansen called "Growing Design Elements in After Effects" was really great! and I used it for the foundation of this animation!

    -sb

  • Thanks for the tutorial heads up!!! I'm glad it's finally demystified in my mind.

  • can i do this in flash?

  • Nope

  • Actually, you can.

It may not end up as smooth, though, because Flash renders it in realtime.

  • Yes, u can as digitalmorphine wrote.

    arnoldklein . com

  • is there any tutorials for this?

  • can i do this with flash? i dont know how to use after fx!!!!!

  • Nice job!

  • Well, I love it. Especially the white splash at the back.

I've recently done an animation about plants of the chinese culture. Please do take a look at my videos and give me some feedback. We could really share some pointers. =D

  • LOVE IT!

  • pretty cools

  • hi, just curious about the pieces that are floating by, did you use particulator or did you animate then individually?

  • I used particular for the pieces floating by..

  • how do you animate every masks? do you use over a solid layer?

  • The artwork was originally created in illustrator which allowed me to break apart the various vine and leaf elements into separate layers inside after effects. This allowed me to utilize the alpha channel within the illustrator file while then using the pen tool to mask each vine and link the mask for each layer to the write on effect in after effects and so on... you could essentially do this without using the write on effect but you would then have to animate the mask by hand..

  • i would like to learn this growing effect, could you teach me? or do u know where i can learn from? better is a video tutorial. thanks anyway

  • Very cool how do you do that in motion?

  • It was done completely in after effects and Illustrator. I animated individual masks to reveal the stems underneath!

  • I have to ask how you did it? Are you keyframing with a mask to reveal the stems or something different?

  • very nice i just started trying this stuff with apple motion. looks great.
