For all those who say that a Dobe can't be this big with out being bred with another breed, your incorrect. I for one have a champion bloodline male who is a 120 lbs, he just gets a lot of exercise and is large. Madvette74, you have a perfect Doberman
yes ofcourse.. when your dobe is large and got substanial weight, and especially at his age checked for any hip and joint problems. he had an x-rays about 7 months ago, I was shown the x-rays and Ramsey Dr said his hips were in remarkable condition for his size and age.. but keep in mind there are other factors to worry about, such as athritis in the spine, wich he is starting to show signs of.. Ramsey is over 10 years old, and always been healthy, but you cant fight aging..
yea, a lot of people who see my vids dont relize how tall he is, untill they seen him next to a person.. this video gives you a better size comparison
Ramsey is one handsome dog! I can see he's ALL Dobie! I have a 100lb 6 year old female, who is also AKC reg. many think she is mixed with something only because of her size. People that do not know the breed, do not know that there are many sizes of Dobermans. Hey....we know for sure, that's all that counts! GO RAMSEY!!
yes, I did get to meet the parents of ramsey, they were of equal size, even met the grandfather
that dwarfts ramsey..let me ask you this, you never seen God, but does that mean he dont exist?? a 7 foot basket ball player, do we say he's no full human... some things you just need to accept..
@madvette74 I assume this is towards me? Because like I said, I'm not saying I'm having a hard time accepting he's pure because of his size, it's his SHAPE, a 20lb Chihuahua should still look like a 5lb Chihuahua. I'm saying that his SHAPE is very off for a Dobie, in fact, if you never mentioned he was a Dobie, I would have guessed he was a Beau mix or just a Beau with a cropped tail. I'm not trying to offend you, just stating my opinion, opinions are a thing that come with Youtube.
As gorgeous as Ramsey is(and trust me, he is!) I'm not convinced he's purebred. =/ Not at all because of his size, but rather, his build. Not hardly Doberman, His build is very similar to a Beauceron actually, a herding dog quite similar to the Dobie in looks. In fact, if he had a tail and had the proper coat, he could about pass for a purebred Beauceron. Now, I could be wrong, but unless I saw solid proof that says he's a purebred, then you sir, have one of the most gorgeous Dobie mixes ever.
@xWolfHauntx well thank you for the compliments.. Ramsey is AKC register, I got him from a breeder that only breeds these size dobermans.. when you have a litter cof pup some can be sammler thqan average and some larger, some may even be albino. but the breeder began breeding the larger dobes. and thats how he came about
@madvette74 Okay that's a good start, just remember, papers can always be falsified. I'm not saying your papers are, just don't ever take that has a definite that your dog is purebred. Did you see both parents? Or perhaps even the breeding itself? Those would be the best, especially the breeding. Then you could be sure that you weren't being tricked. He still is quite out of standard shape-wise, but if that's how an "Oversized" Dobie is supposed to look like, then well he's handsome!
@xWolfHauntx Ramsey is definitely oversized, and way out of the standard in nearly every possible way, but there's no disputing the fact that he appears to be purebred.
@DakotaTheDoberman Perhaps to you he does, but place him next to any bonifide pure Dobie and his shape, like his muzzle is WAY off, he could be purebred yes, but he doesn't look it, and I don't mean by his size, if he is purebred, he is was helluva POOR bred Dobie, and that's NOT counting the out of standard size.
@xWolfHauntx Well, the simple answer is that good breeders breed to the standard... bad breeders don't... I think his confirmation is way off in many areas, but he still looks 100% purebred to me. I'm sure he's still a great dog, so I don't want the person that posted this to think I'm making fun of the dog... I have a dobe mix that resembles god knows what lol. But he's definitely not well bred.
@DakotaTheDoberman I'm not trying to make fun of the dog either, he IS gorgeous, as I said previously, and I would love to own him, I just have a hard time believing he is purebred, but I guess poorly bred dogs can come out looking quite strange compared to their well bred counterparts...
@raccooner1 Yeah, pretty much anyone that breeds out of standard is a BYB, I figured that already, ANYONE that breeds for size/shape/color/ANYTHING out of the dog breed standard is a BYB, no matter how well they care for their dogs or how reputable they seem to be, I wouldn't never buy from a BYB. Breeding out of standard is not breeding for health, unless say... you begin to breed English Bulldogs with a longer snout and better legs or something. That I can get behind.
@xWolfHauntx i see alot of people defending the "breed" and getting pissed off but its the truth , if you look at the dogs muzzle and head stop its different from a correct akc dobe . the body even looks different like the gait is off . i hate byb . just out to make a buck on something that could have tons of health problems
@raccooner1 Agreed, that's the first thing I noticed too, how off standard this dog is, I mean he's beautiful, but I would be pissed if I paid money for a purebred Dobie(and most likely more than a normal Dobie at that)and had my pup grow into this. Plus, I've never known a BYB to ever do health testing, and I would never buy from ANY breeder, BYB or not if they don't health test.
@madvette74 Good breeders typically don't breed z-factored dobermans, which is the albino gene. From the vids, Ramsey definitely appears to be purebred. Have you ever had him x-rayed for hip/joint problems?
thank you Loren400 for the kind words.. some people put aside how well loved he is, and focus mainly on his size, but he is a friend I take everywhere..
I can't believe some of the comments.. I see nothing wrong with Ramsey - he's gorgeous and its clear that he's cared for and cared about. Don't want to see a large Doberman? Don't click the "125lb King Doberman" video. Not everyone wants a dog purely for showing, who really freaking cares?
I am so sorry to hear that... I can only imagine the pain of loosing a friend, I too know someday I am going to loose mine.. and I try to make the best of it everyday, Ramsey will be 10 years old on jan 5th..
@Teztost3rpwn thanks, but he is all dobe, when people are 3 feet tall or nearly 7 feet tall, do we say they are not all human, no difference than anything else.. it's just out of the usual..
@Teztost3rpwn There are allot of dobies this size. Even a bit bigger. They are called "King Doberman". Many breeders and all Clubs do not recognize or agree with their breeding... Many of the ones I have seen look too husky. Like they are part rot and I think they look sloppy when they get like that... This guy Ramsey looks good though. He doesnt look too far from standard dobie shape. And Im sure no will hop a fence with this guy on the other side.. lol..
@Teztost3rpwn Purebred or not, his dock his poorly done, his muzzle isnt tapered enough and could seriously use some muscle definition. He is like a hotdog on four spindlely legs.
@GoGadgetHookerClean His build(especially his muzzle) reminds me of a Beauceron, maybe he's mixed with that? I've never heard of a "King" Doberman, and a 125lb Doberman that's not obese is pretty unbelievable...
I've had Dobies all my life....Ramsey is a Doberman...there size can vary, I have seen 125lbs Dobies before. My female is 100lbs. Her mom was 100lbs and her dad was 115lbs! So it not that uncommen to see a large Dobie.
@xWolfHauntx "king" doberman is usually a term thrown around by breeders who breed dogs outside the standard... Those that breed them call them "kings", but really they're no different except they are bred to be outside the standard, which most that love the breed would frown upon.
@rctriplefresh5 U are 100% correct. Way too big for a doberman and certainly not a dog that should be bred for any reason. Leave the breeding to the pros who breed to improve things like conformation and tempermant.
Thanx madvette74.At least someone pays attention tobthe lineage of the Doberman.Obviously freakylongboy should think about the Wermereiner&German Short Haired Pointer explain red & blue Dobes. When someone says "Only Black & Tan are the 'true' Dobermans. All the rest are just mutts"-the words of freakylongboy.Jow does f.l.b. explain 2 Black&Tan parents producing a mixed coloured litter of pups?Otto is the same purebred(NOT THOROUGHBRED STUPID! YOU THOROUGHBRED IS HORSES ASS!)
Ramsey was trained for what he has been bred for.. it amazes me, when I see how fast he can respond for his size, when being sent out. because of his size he is a much greater threat,, as training goes, you can have 2 dobes trained for this work and one can be much more capable to take down a threat.. thats a another topic. I do not advicate on a larger breed, they are not for everyone. Ramsey will be 10 soon.,no health issues!! yes there can be, but dont say they will..
From the Doberman Forum: "Wise Doberman parents and breeders will avoid anyone interested in greatly oversized Dobermans. These Dobermans suffer from a variety of health issues due to their hastily increased body size and irresponsible breeding focus. Additionally, their increased size removes their agility making them less affective at what they were originally bred for and does further damage to the Doberman Pinscher breed."
The breed is believed to have been created from several different breeds of dogs that had the characteristics that Dobermann was looking for, including the German Pinscher, the Beauceron, the Rottweiler, the Thuringian Sylvan Dog, the Greyhound, the Great Dane, the Weimaraner, the German Shorthaired Pointer, the Manchester Terrier and the Old German Shepherd Dog. "Hope this clears it up for you Madammasquerade"
I have a two year old right at a 100 but he has been around a female that was in heat and hasnt eaten much his appetite has picked up since so we will see where he gets to. I dont fight dogs but my mother in law has a 150 pound rott and he thought he was bad!!! But when my dobie came to the farm Brody (the rott) knew who the boss was! and it was not the slow lumbering ancestrially herding rottie! It was the nimble quick relentless powerful DOBERMAN!
you shouldnt be proud of having a 125 ''king'' doberman. king just means he was bred to be something he's not..outside of the breed standard due to incestuous puppy mill breeding. if you wanted a 125 pound dog u should have gotten a rottie(even they are SUPPOSED to be 90-110.)
@rctriplefresh5 dude STFU u r an IDIOT the dog is what he is and what GOD gave him his life to be,, just like GOD gave you yours,, so dont be an know it all,, I think he is an awesome dog,, I had a 155 pound pure bred German Shepard,,,, he was massive, for the breed,, lived to be 8 and is buried in my backyard,,, he was a good dog and unbelievably powerful, but he was treated well and raised right, so he was no threat to those not threatening
@rctriplefresh5 he is probably of European bloodline they breed dobes bigger them Americans and akc standards.... do ur research before you spout off at the mouth
@deltamike21 Actually, the european height standard is pretty identical to the north american height standard. Good breeders, whether they are breeding show or working dogs are going to be within the standard.
Ramsey is much taller than your average Dobe.. when someone has something negative to say about any dog, first thing I think of this person is jealous,. you could show me a skinny dobe or a fat dobe, short dobe a tall Dobe, I dont care I still love them all.. cant say the same for people like you, Ramsey has ZERO health issues, his vet says his his and joints are in remarkable condition for a Dobe of his age and size(end quote) going on 10 in a couple of months, see any vids of 10 yr old dobes
dobermans are not supposed to be fat (health reasons). Obesity in dobies causes also displasia and cardio problems. also the head doesnt look anymore as dobie one, but as a rottie... your dog your choice....
He's a gorgeous boy, absolutely gorgeous. But I have to ask, why is he so thick in the back end, and his nose is abnormally short for the breed. Not narrow like what's commonly seen. It almost looks like there was a rotti in the woodpile somewhere in his bloodline lol. Still a beautiful boy though regardless. I'm envious, dobies rock. ^_^
@madvette74 they don't have great dane in them, they have rottweiler, greyhound, Wiemeraner, and other various breeds to that hight. Never heard of great dane in them?
can someone please tell me is this a purebred european dobie? cause i saw someone's comment saying that the king dobies are not pure bred and and have rottie or great dane blood in them. please help
@nalenmanman "King Doberman" is simply a large Doberman. There is no actual separate breed with that name. So if you have a pure bred Dobie that just happens to be large, he's still a purebred. There are people who breed larger than normal parents to have "king" sized dogs but it's still a Dobie. Dobies are actually a medium sized dog normally and range from 26-30" at the shoulder and between 65 and 95 LBS.
you do understand, we refer them to King Dobes because of the breed that once was.. so it's only in reference, or I could tell you Ramsey is europeon, you do understand the difference in american and europeon Standards.. but you probably haven't been around the breed to know the difference... Hope that cleared up any misunderstanding you had.
I would like to see a video of the perfect Doberman that weighs 115 with out an ounce of fat, thats a very big statement, care to back it up??? lets start with the dogs height?
When will people start realizing there are no such thing as "King" breeds. It's all litterally the luck of the draw if you get a big pup. I have a doberman who is 115 lbs, without an ounce of fat. Both parents and his litter mates are under 100lbs. You can certainly breed a big female to a big male, and produce big pups, but to pay extra money thinking your getting "King" breeds is ridiculous.
Ramsey is a beautiful dobe though, a great example of the breed :)
very easy.. his acual words are in german to alert and gaurd, and not anyway similar, other than much quicker responce and much higher agression.. not something I would recommend training,,
I keep feeding my Doberman both can and dry dog food, exercise him vigorously with my longboard ( he loves it ) but he still doesn't look as thick as yours...any advice?
@madvette74 How tall is he in inches? He is very big boned compared to mine who is more of a classic UK doberman (slimmer in general) my uncle has a European Doberman which is bred to be more chunky but sadly he is severley overweight and looks like an obese rottweiler.
Ramsey is down to 117lbs.. the loss of the extra weight gave him a thin stomach and a big chest, he looks so much better, he seems to get around a bit better as well.. Ramsey is very playful and loving, but still protective..
wow such a nice dob...but its too heavy i think...dobs supose to weight maximum 45 kilos....is he a pure dob??also i was wondering...male dobes seek touch and affection or only females do...??
i was just wondering if you remember how much he weighed when he was 6 monthd because i have a 6 month old female european doberman that weighs 65 lbs already.
I just uploaded 2 new videos, Ramsey is now 9-1/2 years old, you wont see to many dobes on the tube his age, as active as he is... he gets his blood work done, gets exrays of hips, his vets says he's remarkably healthy for his his age and size.. sorry to say some average size dobes dont live half as long as him,, these dogs can have health issues,
Gorgeous dog! Love dobes :) But I've heard that when they breed them for size, they tend to have more health problems. Is this true for the Euros, too?
@emilyj1987 Yes it is true about oversized Dobermans, they tend to develop heart disease easier. The same goes for any large breed dog. They never seem to live more that 10 yrs on average..
@SuperBUGGzBUNNY european dobermanns especially German dobermanns are a lot bigger built than american dobermanns. growing up in the usa, my family had two dobermanns the first one was bought from here in Germany where our family comes from and he was 120lbs. The dobermanns here in Germany where I live are bigger and look like the original breed standard that Herr Dobermann created, even if they are not as heavy their chests are bigger they are an all around more powerful Dobermann.
@1FriedrichBarbarossa Being from Germany as you claim, you should know european dobermanns are thicker in bone NOT 'bigger'. All great examples of the 'german bred' dobermann are the same height as their american counterparts. Your FCI standard allows 99LBS MAX. A dobermann any larger is disqualified in both the show and work rings. Herr Dobermann produced a medium sized animal, not a great dane.
I was just thinking the same thing, Monkeyrs. Plus there is no such thing as a "King" Doberman. This dog, (nice video) is more likely a Doberman-Rottweiler bred by a backyard breeder. :( Dobermans are med. size and as Monkeyrs' stated, built to move quickly, jump high and able to run down an intruder. If you see a dog this large it's not within the AKC breed standards meaning it's not a pure bred Dobbie. Just being honest - to hopefully educate the public.
Haha when he says: " Ramsey! Who's that? " and he starts barking, that reminds me about my best friends dog called Ozzy, you could say like: " Ozzy boy, who's coming? " and then he ran like a retarded freak to the door and started barking, he wouldn't stop until you did say: There is nobody there!
how did you get your dog to be so alert??? could you email me at germaine.still@gmail.com... i would love to know because me and my girlfiends dog ran away a week ago... and we were so attached to 'kimbo'... so we're getting a cane corso next week and would love to teachhim to be kind and gentle but alert at the same time... THANKS
no, there is not rottie in him, some people like to think so, (in the real world no) nothing about him will lead you to think he has any, and rotties are not tall dogs... these are dogs that are born large, and breeders will take this dog and breed him with others that are unusally large..
@TheDoberman101 I think the question ment to be, is one of his parents rottie.. ofcourse these dogs were created with rottie in them, also sheperds, greatdane, pinchers..
Sweet Dog! Sweet Bikes! Sweet Camp Site, and what looks to be a Sweet Girl! Living the life bro! Have two of these pups about the same size myself. Make great guard dogs. I make sure to bring them out in public whenever I can just so people know this is whats waiting for you behind my doors.
pretty dog , no such thing as king doberman , its a term used by byb to make extra money .look it up

Ramsey will be 10 soon.,no health issues!! yes there can be, but dont say they will..
madvette74 3 months ago
From the Doberman Forum: "Wise Doberman parents and breeders will avoid anyone interested in greatly oversized Dobermans. These Dobermans suffer from a variety of health issues due to their hastily increased body size and irresponsible breeding focus. Additionally, their increased size removes their agility making them less affective at what they were originally bred for and does further damage to the Doberman Pinscher breed."

cadalacin 3 months ago
The breed is believed to have been created from several different breeds of dogs that had the characteristics that Dobermann was looking for, including the German Pinscher, the Beauceron, the Rottweiler, the Thuringian Sylvan Dog, the Greyhound, the Great Dane, the Weimaraner, the German Shorthaired Pointer, the Manchester Terrier and the Old German Shepherd Dog. It was the nimble quick relentless powerful DOBERMAN!

you shouldnt be proud of having a 125 ''king'' doberman. king just means he was bred to be something he's not..outside of the breed standard due to incestuous puppy mill breeding. if you wanted a 125 pound dog u should have gotten a rottie(even they are SUPPOSED to be 90-110.)
rctriplefresh5 4 months ago 5
@rctriplefresh5 what a dumb comment, I am proud of him for what he is and what he can do...

@deltamike21 - Actually, in Europe the Dobermans tend to be slightly stockier, but often not as tall. Still - a nice dog.
Jefferdaughter 1 month ago
@deltamike21 Actually, the european height standard is pretty identical to the north american height standard. Good breeders, whether they are breeding show or working dogs are going to be within the standard.

rack325i 4 months ago
Ramsey is much taller than your average Dobe.. when someone has something negative to say about any dog, first thing I think of this person is jealous,. you could show me a skinny dobe or a fat dobe, short dobe a tall Dobe, I dont care I still love them all.. cant say the same for people like you, Ramsey has ZERO health issues, his vet says his his and joints are in remarkable condition for a Dobe of his age and size(end quote) going on 10 in a couple of months, see any vids of 10 yr old dobes
madvette74 4 months ago 2
dobermans are not supposed to be fat (health reasons). Obesity in dobies causes also displasia and cardio problems. also the head doesnt look anymore as dobie one, but as a rottie... your dog your choice....
KKingstoneRR 4 months ago
He's a gorgeous boy, absolutely gorgeous. But I have to ask, why is he so thick in the back end, and his nose is abnormally short for the breed. Not narrow like what's commonly seen. It almost looks like there was a rotti in the woodpile somewhere in his bloodline lol. Still a beautiful boy though regardless. I'm envious, dobies rock. ^_^
kaytabbi 4 months ago
seeing that your posting on my page, dobes have many other breeds in them, yes great danes is one, and yes rottie, as well as several other breeds..
madvette74 5 months ago
@madvette74 they don't have great dane in them, they have rottweiler, greyhound, Wiemeraner, and other various breeds to that hight. Never heard of great dane in them?
MadamMasquerade 4 months ago
can someone please tell me is this a purebred european dobie? cause i saw someone's comment saying that the king dobies are not pure bred and and have rottie or great dane blood in them. please help
nalenmanman 5 months ago

Hope that cleared up any misunderstanding you had.
madvette74 5 months ago
Being that you've been around these dogs since the '70's you realize there is no such animal as a "King" doberman, right??
luketdrifter2100 5 months ago
this dobbie looks fat and short =/
NOCMEOCURRENADAmax 5 months ago
I would like to see a video of the perfect Doberman that weighs 115 with out an ounce of fat, thats a very big statement, care to back it up??? lets start with the dogs height?
madvette74 6 months ago
the size is not by luck, ramsey came from a breeder who breeds these size dobes..
madvette74 6 months ago
When will people start realizing there are no such thing as "King" breeds. It's all litterally the luck of the draw if you get a big pup. I have a doberman who is 115 lbs, without an ounce of fat. Both parents and his litter mates are under 100lbs. You can certainly breed a big female to a big male, and produce big pups, but to pay extra money thinking your getting "King" breeds is ridiculous.
Ramsey is a beautiful dobe though, a great example of the breed :)
thedogcouple 6 months ago
very easy.. his acual words are in german to alert and gaurd, and not anyway similar, other than much quicker responce and much higher agression.. not something I would recommend training,,

How do you get your dobie so big?
I keep feeding my Doberman both can and dry dog food, exercise him vigorously with my longboard ( he loves it ) but he still doesn't look as thick as yours...any advice?
cheechanchux 6 months ago
@cheechanchux Ramsey was breed from larger Dobermans..
madvette74 6 months ago
@madvette74 How tall is he in inches? He is very big boned compared to mine who is more of a classic UK doberman (slimmer in general) my uncle has a European Doberman which is bred to be more chunky but sadly he is severley overweight and looks like an obese rottweiler.
MREAGLEPAUL 6 months ago
@MREAGLEPAUL he is just over 30-1/2 inches at the withers... average male dobes are 26-1/2 to 28-1/2

lowplainsdrifter88 10 months ago
I just uploaded 2 new videos, Ramsey is now 9-1/2 years old, you wont see to many dobes on the tube his age, as active as he is... he gets his blood work done, gets exrays of hips, his vets says he's remarkably healthy for his his age and size.. sorry to say some average size dobes dont live half as long as him,, these dogs can have health issues,
madvette74 10 months ago
Gorgeous dog! Love dobes :) But I've heard that when they breed them for size, they tend to have more health problems. Is this true for the Euros, too?
emilyj1987 10 months ago
@emilyj1987 Yes it is true about oversized Dobermans, they tend to develop heart disease easier. The same goes for any large breed dog. They never seem to live more that 10 yrs on average..
lowplainsdrifter88 10 months ago
i'm not much of an expert buh that doesn't look like a pure dobbie
SuperBUGGzBUNNY 10 months ago

madvette74 10 months ago 4
@madvette74 yea my doberman is 100% german bloodline and hes very chunckie alot like this fella
DragonHellraiser 10 months ago
@madvette74 european dobies are more stocky looking?
nalenmanman 5 months ago
@SuperBUGGzBUNNY european dobermanns especially German dobermanns are a lot bigger built than american dobermanns. growing up in the usa, my family had two dobermanns the first one was bought from here in Germany where our family comes from and he was 120lbs. The dobermanns here in Germany where I live are bigger and look like the original breed standard that Herr Dobermann created, even if they are not as heavy their chests are bigger they are an all around more powerful Dobermann.
1FriedrichBarbarossa 8 months ago
@1FriedrichBarbarossa Being from Germany as you claim, you should know european dobermanns are thicker in bone NOT 'bigger'. All great examples of the 'german bred' dobermann are the same height as their american counterparts. Your FCI standard allows 99LBS MAX. A dobermann any larger is disqualified in both the show and work rings. Herr Dobermann produced a medium sized animal, not a great dane.

Do you know Ramsey's pedigree? Because for a dobe thats too big, it doesnt have the speed and agility that a regular doberman has.
monkeyrs 1 year ago 3

He was such a lovely dog :)

no, there is not rottie in him, some people like to think so, (in the real world no) nothing about him will lead you to think he has any, and rotties are not tall dogs... these are dogs that are born large, and breeders will take this dog and breed him with others that are unusally large..
