  • @sillymonkey829 That's actually why I uploaded the video in the first place! I wanted to show my friend, then just uploaded the whole clip because one didn't exist on youtube yet

  • Gojira make that riffs before decapitated

  • Can't wait for the new album

  • decapitated m sry :)

  • 1:40 it sound like sphere's of madness (secapitated)

  • @thebeastialmurder I hear it too! Pretty cool. Decapitated and Gojira rock.

  • spheres of madness !! 1:39

  • I love that harmonic/neck bend Joe does at 3:52! Such a kickass song!

  • @sillymonkey829 that always kicks my ass. nice add

  • BEST BASSIST EVER! whatever he's taking I want some :D

  • This groove just broke my spine. Thank you Gojira for the free parking!

  • Best fucking death metal band out there besides one in my melodic death library, I love both genres.

  • I hear a bit of napalm death influence at 2:09. Epic.

  • BASS PLAYER FUCKING GIVES ER

  • why do I like this video so much? Is it the speed/accuracy/dynamics/rhythm/tempo/melody/stage performance? Maybe you are asking yourself the same..

  • I love the bassist's prescence on stage !!

    He's so brutal !! \m/

  • @TheKeepRiding he is multi talent, playing bass and shuffling at the same time

  • How come i can't find a bad live video of gojira...why are they so darn amazing! curses!

One of the best live bands.

  • I was taken to Sanitarium, when the doctors found out my constant headbanging was caused by listening Gojira, They said "That's normal" and let me go.

  • 1:37 i love being in the pit when shit like that happens. every suddenly stops moving the music slows way down then....BAM! you can just feel the energy building up

  • 3:58 fucking epic fist clench by joe. It's the little things, really.

  • is it me, or is 1:51 simply the most brilliant, brutal sound to come from a metal vocalist?

  • what happens at 2:53, like skips a little bit or something

  • lolz @ the guy in the white t-shirt on stage having a fit.

  • this is the bassists favorite song.....you can tell in the beginning

  • @joe2131 He headbangs like that in every song haha

  • @svbassist His tone is good and its nice to be able to hear the bass cutting through. That seems to be an issue with alot of bands that play live. Its funny cause the harder the music it seems you hear all of the musicians equally( Meshuggah, Symphony X, Dream Theater)

  • @joe2131

Noope. He just throws down like a motherfucker all the time ;D

  • What are triggers? on the bass drums?

  • 1:24...moments like that at a metal concert are so sweet....the whole pit stops..............then BAM....

  • man want to get this dvd... mario's drum setup is so simple, nothing over the top with a million cymbals...hope they come to new zealand someday...gojira are brutal as fuck

  • @VBoodZ

i seriously hate hot weather man.

you still online on msn ?

  • i m listening to this everyday (its been 3 weeks)

...at least 3-6 times per day...

its fucking raw...we are gonna cover it with my band...

    fucking \mXm/

    greetings from Greece...

    stay true \m/

  • that riff is so heavy it makes me want to go fuck someone up.

  • Gojira. come on guys..

please.. Brazil is waiting for you!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha I love how a bassist in a live DVD doesn't usually get much attention, but they know this guy is one spastic mother fucker so they make sure they get a lot of him.

  • At 2:34 The guy dress in white. Ahaha he rules!

  • @Daddykris33 He looks like a puppet, so brutal :D

  • The bass player is fucking nuts,

  • 3:53 onward makes me hard. that is all.

  • THE ONLY FAG WHO DOESNT LIKE THIS VID...

    FUCK UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!

    ,,,,GOJIRA RULESS!!

  • @ddink91 wat?

  • @ddink91

Another music nazi who cant accept it when someone doesn't like his music. Get over it child ;)

  • It's such a refresher to see a consistent energetic performance from these guys, unlike a lot of metal bands anymore these days. Good crowd participation too.

  • joe duplantier no doubt the best growl in death metal

  • @Drewsahunk123 Gojira are like ones of the ones who started the whole dissonant chord riff like in the verses, and now every stupid deathcore band over uses them now

  • THE MOST RECENTLY ACCLAIMED INNOVATIVE MUSIC EVER@!!!$!$

  • 2:59 ... missed the bell

  • Fucking love their bass-player. He is tearing shit up, like it's judgement day.

  • fuckin righteous

  • 2:36 must have obtained Jean-Michael's crazyness ^^

  • these guys kick so much fucking ass in concerts.

  • Fuck breakdowns, its all about the groove.

  • @ZmetalmanZ breakdowns are all about groove....

  • @jland34002

Traditional breakdowns are, but not that noise-chord bullshit that all these fag bands are doing.

  • @ Teh 11293 dude I'm a bassist to. He just goes fuckin berserk. It's insane

  • THEY MAKE D TUNING SO HEAVY!!!!!

  • @Mokobass DUDE I FUCKING KNOW!!!!!! at first i thought oh its probly in drop C hell maybe even drop B but i looked at some tabs and it was fucking d stranded! crazy as shit

  • as a bassist, this guy is the reason i go insane on stage

  • one of the few bands that sound better live love how the bassist attacks his bass he truly enjoys his music

  • Their bassist is a beast!

  • JEsus..I dont think yall understand how GREAT they sound live. I love them. I am hooked. I went to as many shows as I could when they were here last year and a rare small show in Baltimore. I can't get enough. I hope they come back really soon.

  • Lol,the bassist on the left is overreacting a bit -,- Must control the enthusiasm

  • @Goblexter Our right.

  • @Goblexter that's what it's all about imo, if he had to control himself it wouldn't be half as cool

  • @LashByLash69 Yea,I intended to delete the comment right after posting it,but for some stupid reason,YT has taken away that possibility

  • @Goblexter cmon dude, if i was a gojira band member, i will go apeshit too while playing..

  • wow, mario is sooooo underrated its sad and disconscerting. My duty as a drummer is to promulgate the existance of this band...

  • Mario Duplantier signed my shoe back in October :D

I consider him my favorite drummer, and certainly one of the best drummers of all time. But that's just my opinion.

  • the lights are so fucking cool!

  • FUCK YEAH!

  • that bassist is crazy as a goat! jhaahahah

  • My opinion on triggers is, if you can't play it loud enough without them then you're playing too fast, and there is a such thing as too fast. But if they are used to just enhance the live sound, I think they are perfectly fine. Although, I think drummer trigger their drums too much to the point where it drowns out the guitarists distinction and articulation and it just sounds muddy.

  • This Song sounds like Thunder....\,,/

  • triggers? music 'evolves' im sorry. stay without triggers whatever i dont give a fuck anyways

  • labadie(Bass) is SOOO fucking into it! really awesome to see him play:D

  • Seriously there is not a single metal band today that wouldn't use triggers...

  • @Benno828282 what you mean by triggers? sorry if im stupid..

  • Triggers are a device they put on bass drums that allow any kick to essentially sound exactly the same pitch and volume wise, so if you kick it soft or hard it still has the same output through the pa. It dosen't make drumming any easier and it's def not cheating.

  • ok i know exactly what that is no its not cheating, its perfection.

  • @Benno828282 well it makes easier to keep your stamina up but if you make one godamn mistake.... everybody will hear it so clear that it makes you cry :D I use BD triggers my self with dynamic velocity settings, Velocity is between 900-127 (it´s not real natural but sounds better than full triggered kick) and i also use different samples for different hits. So does Mario i think and also Inferno from behemoth and Kai hahto and Gene hoglan.

  • well there are some kinda famous band who still refuse triggering cause of the drummers being Purists :P

  • even when mario uses triggers...who cares??

  • i don't now whay, i like gojira cuz is a fucking great band, but this song is like decapitated song called Spheres of madness...

  • thats the f*kin raddest sh*t ive ever seen!! the bassist is brutal!

  • Mario does not make use of triggers...... he has good equipment and technicians...

  • @tsiguini Yes he uses, but who fucking cares, trigger is not cheating at all,Mario is still one of the most impressive drummer that I've ever seen in my life! =)

  • Yep i agree,he is my favourite drummer, but there are some uses of triggers where the drummers cheat

  • yeah in the death/black metal stuff, but It's not really cheat, that's just because it's really hard to play at 240-260 bpm really loud, with a good power without trigger ^^

ps:sorry for my bad english I'm french

  • @tsiguini how is it cheating? he is still playing it - its just a different sound, its not like hes not playing it...

  • I don't say Mario is cheating, but some drummers use the trigger,so they can put the pedal's hitter closer to the double bass drums and play faster with the same power of sound they would have with their pedal hitter more far from the bass drum(in which case they would not be able to play so fast).Or they can use them to cover some mistakes in high-speed strokes

  • yep using triggers isn't cheat if u don't abuse them. The real role of triggers is to help you sound as closer to what u want. But some skilless drummers, take advantage of them by either covering some mixed strokes or by having a heavier hit sound with the hitter of the pedal being closer to the double bass drum so he can play faster

  • @tsiguini yeah totally,me I use trigger for my bands only because that sounds so much loud and powerful but I always play with my pedal very far from the bass drum ^^,so I can only play at 210-230 bpm =(

    ahah but nevermind XD

  • If u can play at 210-230 bpm with your pedal far from the bass drum then you are good :).Speed is not the only thing that matters

  • Ahah thanks,It's because I had a good drum teacher that's all,mister Romain Goulon! XD,he taught me a lot =)

And yes the speed isn't everything, the proof with one of my bands,we play music like Veil Of Maya and Born Of Osiris stuff, thus it is generally the break the least fast that returns me the head ahahah ^^

  • @ilvblastbeat actually, triggers only make the bass sound better. It's not making it go any faster though.

  • the bass player really got Brütal Spasms!!!

  • Such fucking awesome stage presence!

  • F@CKEN A, HAIL GOJIRA

  • MY LIZZARD SKIIIIIIN!! yeah.....just fucking yeah. they have SUCH a heavy sound.....and it (and many other bands and all sorts of psychonautic adventures)has lead me to spiritual awakening...fear it.....

  • fuckin bassist KILLIN IT!!!!! HAIL GOJIRA

  • Mario!! You got Randy's attention you guys!!!

This guy... damn Chris.... you got some competition......

  • I was thinking the same thing! spinning around headbanging and still plays his part perfectly xD

  • bassist is sooo into the music:D makes it even better!

  • Fucking amazing band live, this band continues to blow me away every time I listen to them and see them in concert.

  • you can get Terra Incognita re issue for like 14 bucks on amazon now :D

  • I was at Best Buy about a month ago and saw it. Needless to say, I snatched it up.

  • One of the best albums ever created. So glad they reissued it.

  • or free on Internets :DD

  • NO CONTROL!!

  • it's the bassist, Jean michel dumbass! (Who is jumping around)

  • I guess you would prefer a metal band to sit on chairs while playing on stage? This isn't Gojira unplugged. He's obviously into his music and into the moment. You are obviously not a musician and have never been onstage.

Please refrain from posting further ignorance.

  • jean u dumb ass and its awesome init

  • does mario use triggers?

  • I don't think so...he's just talented =)

  • Yeah he does. Go to 2:23 and you can see one mounted on the top of his left kick just behind Joe, you can see them again in other songs from this show but they're mostly pretty hidden haha :)

  • idk.. cuz the camera gives a few shots of his feet once in a while when hes double bassing. i would be greatly depressed if he used triggers. but id also be in denial. w\e tho. hes still amazing either way.

  • You can't see them when it goes to the shot of his feet, they're mounted on the top of the kicks. Watch the drum solo/s, there's so many cameras on him you should be able to see. But yeah, dunno who's a drummer around here, but it's the little red box kinda thing on top of his kicks, might make it easier to find!

As for him using them in the first place, it's not easy to get that tone and consistency when just mic'd up, so I guess it makes sense for Mario but eh, each to their own I guess.

  • He uses triggers on his bass drums, but all the rest is mic'd up. I don't see why you'd be sad about it, if he didn't use them we would just hear a long low note when he uses double bass. Being an active drummer, i know how bad it is when you play fast double bass without triggers live.

And triggers just make your drumming stand out (unless you're a whimp and trigger your whole kit), it doesn't make you better. Mario Duplantier is fucking amazing.

    Gojira dechire sa mere.

  • ahh.. mk. yeah i dont know much about drumms, obviously. I just thought that if you used triggers live you are cheating and cant really play as good as it sounds.

  • Oh wow no, triggers are just little devices that you put on the heads of drums, and when you hit the head it sends an electric pulse that makes a sound. It's in no way cheating ^^

  • just so ye guys know triggers dont always mean cheat they can be used purely for sound and audiablilty rather then doubling up

  • yeah. he's triggered, but it's about getting a good tone. u hear each hit better when triggered. gojiras drummer doesn't overkill it. it becomes very clear if u just fake your drumming with just triggersound.

  • @Deammer and i think he uses dynamic velocity settings. Because his trigger sound so much better and natural than Kollias´s, barker´s and hellhammer´s. and yes this Super MArio Duplantier is so original and awesome drummer!

  • @Deammer forgive me if im being ignorant cause i really dont know much about drums but is triggering just a compensation for not hitting the thing loud enough ? if so wouldnt it just be a case of mikeing the bass drum properally im just wondering cause my drummer never uses triggers(cant afford them cough) and he can be heard pretty danm well

  • @guitarguymusthaphawa triggers are normally used to make the drums more audible live, especially on the bass drum, because when you play double bass really fast, it just sounds like a low bass line with no hits. It sounds way better when every hit is well defined. But nowadays a lot of Metal drummers use them on their entire kit because they have to sacrifice hitting power for speed (ie. Joey Jordison).

But if you can't hit hard enough, you shouldn't be a drummer, just program the drums.

  • @Deammer ok cool thanks that makes sense my drummer does hit the skins like a freight train tankfully

  • @Deammer Judging by that Sea Shepherd vid that's now out, he triggers the toms too. I think it's a shame, they sounded so organic before.

  • @Deammer and he plays very clearly with successive hits!

  • @Deammer Hey, mon ami, ce quoi un "trigger"? haha

  • @Deammer Thats true.. Whoever who say that triggers are cheating are just dumbshits

  • @Deammer MARIO DUPLANTIER IS THE GREATEST!

  • @Deammer What are triggers dude ?

  • @camsell456 When you hit the drum it triggers a sound instead of micking the real sound of the drum.

  • @EnorusLoL

WRONG. Triggers are bass drum mics that are "triggered" when you hit the bass head, in essence only turning the mic on for that hit. Usefull in heavy metal because it gives the bass drum that clicky sound that helps cut through the mix.

  • @6Explosive6Doom6 WRONG. Triggers are bugs not mics.

  • @nubmother all it dose is turn ur acoustic sounding bass drum into an electric one.. they still work like mics.. bugs, mics, its the same shit u idiots

  • great song ,great band

  • Listen carefully at 3:53 for a cool neck bend effect.

  • favorite band. Listening for a year strong and loving everything they put out!

  • fuckin sick!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • The bassists name is Jean Michel

  • You should check this new stuff out : watch?v=s3_0MAekFgI

  • Okay so i could have used a better example.. but i actually do understand what you're saying. I was saying that metal (in general) originated from blues. Gojira should have its own name of metal. the same way DEATH did. death metal. Gojira metal. haha.

  • Sounds like a good idea to me.

  • Since blues is older than metal or rock, or any another related style you hear nowadays, its obvious the presence of blues influence. Any guitar scale you hear in this song, has it influence in blues, as you know, the first electric guitar players based themselves intirely on blues. Have you ever heard afraid to shoot strangers by iron maiden? Guess not

  • lol Jean Michel is having a good time.

  • He also had a really really great time on the centre stage that Metallica used for their show in Winnipeg, MB, What a wicked show that was.

  • OMFG FUCKING BADASS! Fucking great

  • thats like saying americans have nothing to do with europeans... They maybe really different now, but the origin is the same.

  • No actually it is. Metal Is based in rock, Rock is based in Blues

  • Anyone else feel a weird sense of "groove" in this song?

  • Good metal is all about the groove. remember that it is based on black music.

  • Right. But this must be something different, because I don't get this feeling from other bands. I don't get from other Gojira albums either. "Space and Time" has the same effect on me too. It's so cool.

  • Have you heard of groove metal?

  • The most Brutal song. The double bass and the heavy riffing makes my world implode into Gojira.

  • SPLEAH

  • Wow, that's pretty unreal that you find him "not that great". You need to pay more attention haha

  • well yes I was judging by his part in this song.

since going back and listening to "From Mars to Sirius" I guess I should take back what I said. He is quite an awesome bassist.

  • But you are right in this song his part was simple. If you notice, he's jumpin around a lot here but in the other videos he's like cemented in place lol..

  • It's because it's the heaviest song in the world.

  • Fuck yes.

I also Like space time fuckin chunk man

  • You really gotta listen to more of their stuff. Sure his part in this song is relatively simple but he is an amazing bassist...

  • is this bassist Jean Michel?

  • yes

  • haha cool thanks man, i thought so, i didnt recognise him with the hair :D

  • Mario is a god....

  • GOJIRA FUCKING OWN!!!!!!!

  • christ their bassist is nuts
