At 0:39 I recognize Ed Begley Jr. and Stephen Furst from St. Elsewhere, and Michael Talbott from Miami Vice, but who are the ladies? I think one of them is Trudy from Miami Vice but am not positive.
@Nineteen80s29 Jackee Harry, the Cosby kids, the Golden Girls- Betty White, Rue and Bea Arthur, Bob Hope, Alf, Harry Hamlin, Kim Fields, Michael J. Fox, - all the best and that includes Johnny Carson.
Hey everybody, remember when NBC and all the other networks actually gave a rat's ass? If not...here's the proof... Man I miss the days before the turn of the century.
I miss growing up the 80's and 90's. What is going on with NBC? When they took off the Cosby Show, A Different World, Cheers, Friends, etc.... The whole station went downhill.
awesome spots for NBC back in the day.... Jackee' can sing and so can Phylicia has a great voice ...!! I would love to see a revamp of both Jackee' s and Phylicia's ad spots but get someone who can really wail when they sing like Jennifer Hudson i can so see her singing this ad campaign anthem. lol
What about the gospel-ish theme song Come Home To NBC that they had in the 1986-1987 season? That was my favorite. That had me jumping out of my seat dancing, even with the local station's version of the theme. They've never shown that on YouTube.
Oh my God! Back in the 70's she was heard on the phonograph record and her voice is the one singing here. My heart just raced and pounded with passion just hearing this. That's what would exactly happen if she were within range of me. I just love her to death!
sad part is you will never see commercials like this where all stars for the network come together for the common cause. miss those network specials of the 80's too.
The first version of the Come On Home to NBC !! was sung by Jackee' Harry from 227 and the second one was performed by the beautiful and talented Claire Huxtable herself Phylicia Rashad.
It's weird to think that I was probably just barely one-year-old when this promo came out, and yet I know most of the characters/actors shown here because I watch some of these shows now. How many shows that air now will also be watched by my kids? It's not looking so good, lol.
Mine included: Family Ties, ALF, Night Court, The Cosby Show, Cheers, Empty Nest, St. Elsewhere, Facts of Life, and the Golden Girls and oh can't forget LA LAW
Man I love this video...can not ever get sick of watching it! They need to do more stuff like this nowadays...that's how they got great ratings back then!
Although "NBC Radio" is (just barely) kept alive in name, I was using the 26 August 1987 date that NBC Radio ownership passed from GE to Westwood One as the effective end of the old Red network. Norman J. Pattiz, founder of Westwood One, took his company public in 1984, and with the money raised by the IPO, he purchased the Mutual Broadcasting System in September 1985 (for US$39 million), and the NBC Radio Network in August 1987 (for US$50 Million).
Always strikes me as ironic that NBC was flaunting their vintage logos in 1987... seemingly embracing their radio roots at the same time that they were jettisoning their entire radio division. (NBC Radio, 1926-1987, R.I.P.)
michael j. fox!!!!! oh, those were the days!

@StoneCold75
Michael J Fox had a show on NBC called "Family Ties"
It was a hit show on NBC and ran from 1982-1989.
That's why he was in this NBC promo, because he was a star on that hit NBC show.
The only reason he got the role in Back to the Future was because of the show.
Raagiol 3 months ago
I don't think that person was clueless to the fact that he was on Family Ties, or to Family Ties itself..

So sad tv is junk now. Way to many reality shows and not enough family programs. What a shame.

in 1988, Channel Seven in Australia, copied the scenes from the promo, for The Let's Celebrate '88 promo.

Man the only time where you see the series of different logos in one place is in the very beginning of the Countdown with Keith Olbermann opening

@kcroyalfanatic, I agree that NBC chair that MJF sat on is awesome, not to mention, he was the king of NBC then!

I miss the old NBC. 227, Golden Girls on Saturday Nights. The Cosby Show on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. NBC needs more quality programming.

Jackee can really sing, her higher notes sound pretty good. And Phylicia sings great here too, I like her voice.

It is interesting that the shows they produced during this time are all over cable. Cable, that is NBC's enemy right now.
