  • His IQ is about a 78, he will probably max out at about and 8th grade level as far as school goes, but I figure there are many people with less than that who operate ok on a day to day basis. Someone has to work in the mailroom, be the nighttime janitor and work in housekeeping at the hospital! And if they are union jobs all the better. He has been seizure free since five months. He is a sweet child, but I know that he will never be without challenges. Good luck and God Bless

  • Early intervention is key to long term prognosis. The current study that I have looked at from Finland is a 20-30 year study with 214 patients, of those only 25 developed with no mental impairment. I know that it's scarry, you need to educate yourself about this condition. My son is developmentally delayed, but has done well compaired to most kids with IS.

  • my son was put on Lasix and Vasotec, to control it, Lasix will help with the swelling too. If you notice an regression of skills or milestones that are not being reached contact your school district for therapy. They will provide physical therapy and a special ed teacher will come to your house.

  • I am the mother of an 8-year-old boy that had IS as an infant. I recognize those ACTH cheeks! That will all go away. If they are still on ACTH, make sure that you have a home blood pressure machine, Dynamap, you can rent one, BP's often go very high and need to be monitor several times a day

  • Thank you for sharing your beautiful babies and their story. Best wishes to you!!!
