Get over it. You overly Patriotic people have taken all the meaning out of say, wearing a flag pin, or saying the pledge. Its a soulless gesture at this point, and its ridiculous to claim someone hates America just because they decide not to have everyone stand up like drones and recite the Pledge. Its the same thing with like, wearing a suit at a funeral, or taking your hat off during the National Anthem.
Patriotism, or respect is something you have in your heart. No gesture shows that...
Alright, since you have video and cannot even show during this VIDEO when people were disrespectful (which is odd seeing as you claim they were disrespectful the whole time), why don't you tell us what people said.
Quote what they said.
Can you at least do that?
I guess you've given up on your outrageous claim that the Pledge was planned.
And even so...why is so horrible to plan the PLEDGE to our FLAG. It is SUPPOSED to be said at the beginning of EVERY debate.
I am not speaking in terms of what you see in the video, I am speaking in terms of what when on in the forum AS A WHOLE. A one minute clip is not an accurate representation of an entire forum debate.
Yes, I am a liberal, but I'm fine with honest politicians whether they are Republican or Democratic, as long as they have the best interest of the people at heart. Walsh, however, was extremely disrespectful towards Melissa Bean during the forum.
@panpan4088 Although I find it funny that you call us stubborn but support a woman who yells "EXCUSE ME!" to a group of mature adults as to stop them from talking as if they were 5 year olds.
And when I heard her say "EXCUSE ME!" I honestly could not hear any "side conversation" no matter how hard I listened.
ooh lookie here, notice that Walsh clapped his hands and then that's when everybody got up. Think he didn't plant these people in the first place? and when the candidate forum proceeded to the next two candidates and Walsh left, almost the entire audience followed until there were barely anybody left, mostly the students who got their tickets at school BEFORE ticket sales opened to the public. You know how many people we had to turn down
@panpan4088 You must be on something. He clapped his hands in appreciation to the request. They didn't start saying the pledge for another minute. Understand, the Walsh supporters have been mad at Bean because she has refused to answer any questions regarding a variety of her votes. This was the first time they could see Joe put it to her. That's what they came for.
It's obvious to the most trained eye this was spontaneous. You've been drinking the Kool-aid my friend.
@weneedmccain Were you at the candidate forum sir? There was a blatant disregard of the rules by nearly the whole audience. For example, We stated there must be no sign of affiliation to a party candidate. Yet, there were a number of people that had Walsh stickers all over them, and when spoken to, they put a coat on and pretend to be oblivious.
And there were people that started reciting the pledge once he clapped his hand. It wasn't until the end until remaining supporters joined in.
@panpan4088 Watch the video again, they BOOED Mrs Bean when he clapped, they did not start the Pledge until almost 30 seconds AFTER he clapped his hands.
You need to watch the video, not just be a blatant liar.
And you still have failed to answer my question.
PROVE to me that the audience was being rude
Tell me the EXACT time where the audience was being rude. please tell me.
If you are so confident in that, SHOW me. TELL ME.
@panpan4088 Then again, if your going to lie so bltantly about the correlation between mr. Walsh clapping his hands and the Pledge (again, 27 seconds apart, meaning there is no correlation), I don't think you'll really be able prove your other point.
@panpan4088 Yeah, people had Walsh stickers on - sorry, this is America. Under what pretense did the League of Women Voters say you can't have stickers or party favorite? Please. Walsh clapped in response to the request idiot. My goodness, koolaid drinkers can read so much into stuff, great imagination but that doesn't make it so.
They can't neuter audiences who come to hear a forum. A blatant disregard for the rules, bite me, that's what I say to nazi rules.
@panpan4088 Understand, these are folks in the 8th who have been waiting all election season for Bean to answer for votes on Cap and trade, the stimulus bill, tarp, cash for clunkers and a host of others. She ignored her constitutents. I thought they were very mild mannered considering. If you want to blame someone, blame Bean for ignoring her district.
Moderator Kathy Tate-Bradish is an obama/democrat party apparatchik. She was an organizer for the obama campaign, she also worked for Acorn and she has worked for the Progressive People for the American Way (George Soros). Should we need any additional evidence that the League of Women Voters is just another front for the socialists/communists that have through stealth taken the high ground in an ongoing battle to destroy the Republic?
because of the number of people that got here a full hour earlier to buy tickets? hmm, wonder why. Aside from that, the whole time, you were poking fun at Melissa Bean rather than answering the questions that were asked to you. You also have a blatant disregard of the forum rules, speaking out of turn especially when Bean was speaking. Weren't you taught at a young age to obey rules? I think not.
@panpan4088 Ok. do you have proof? Do you have video proof? Can you tell me the EXACT minute and second mark in this video where the audience jokes Mrs. Bean?
Unless you can PROVE your own point, I'm afraid it's hard to believe you over The author of this video.
Weren't you taught at a young age not to lie to others?
I've been waiting a whole WEEK for you to prove your point. You told Mr. WeneedMccain that the audience was being "unruly", yet have failed to provide evidence.
You simply lied to attempt to make this man look bad along with Mr. Walsh.
Typical Liberal scum.
You try to make the Republicans look sooooo bad, but have nothing to back it up.
You're all bark and no bite.
You yell about an "unruly" audience that you cannot prove.
As far as many Americans are concerned, moderator Kathy Tate-Bradish is verrry wrong here. Who would stridently reject to reciting The Pledge of Allegiance??? How 'bout a Liberal Dem & ex-ACORN scumbag, that's who! And she worships Obama! I imagine Kathy Tate-Bradish fell in love with Obama that September day at Tom Harkin's Iowa Steak Fry when then-Sen. Obama REFUSED to put his hand over where his heart should be during our National Anthem.
Two peas in a pod: D is for Disgusting & Despicable!
being a REAL american means one has the right NOT to say the pledge of allegiance. that any god damned "christian" thinks otherwise is called IGNORANCE of the US constitution's provisions.
the idea this is a Christian nation is a lie. rather IT IS A NATION OF CHRISTIANS, many of whom are, ignorant, intolerant, bigoted, fear mongers & not Christians at all!
and, no matter how much those "christians" think they're being repressed, this video in fact, proves how oppressive they are!
The best thing to come out of this is the ract there were students there. They now (most likely for the first time) get to hear the Pledge of Allegiance. As well as the fact they get to see what true love and devotion to one's country stands for. and how to show it.
That there is a segment of society actively working to overturn cultural traditions, that this audience perceived such an effort by the moderator, and further took matters into their own hands.
@jimisback What does this video show/accomplish? I wasn't there, so all it looks like is some moderator was trying to stick to her agenda while a bunch of unruly audience members demand the pledge for some reason. The passionate comments on here seem are so bemusing, considering how non-controversial this video is. Boy, those audience members really showed her, saying the pledge and all!
I really don't give a shit if someone wants to say the pledge. Hell, for all I care, you can practice witchcraft, just stop supporting legislation that steals my money, reduces my freedom, and sends this nation toward a path of monetary self-destruction.
You'd think whomever made this video, edited it, and added the captions would have checked to see that Illinois was spelled correctly. Ilinois 8th Congressional District? I think not.
One more thing, "Under God" was not added until 1954.Until then, it read "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands; one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Even this account is not the original. In 1892, Bellamy wrote:"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." *See the Deborah8050 comment below
Pledge: Written by Francis Bellamy (1890's) in order to create a socialist / NATIONALIST (think NAZI) society. This idea was in large part motivated by Francis' cousin, Edward Bellamy("Looking Backward" 1887). Today, Tea Parties, Minutemen, Oathkeepers, are all reciting the pledge that reminds them of individual liberty, self responsibility, state rights, and the limited government that the Constitution codifies-opposite of Bellamy's desires. Recite the pledge, but please, know its history.
The lead speaker said that she "I have absolutely nothing FOR or against saying the Pledge of Allegiance... " Why does she have nothing FOR saying the Pledge of Allegiance?
@banjoeyes1234: "The Pledge ...was written by a socialist and is nothing but state worship"
True, and yet people have a powerful urge to occasionally stand up in public and express their loyalty to their nation, and in the case of the US, to the ideas it is founded on.
The Pledge as written is a piss-poor vehicle for that, but I don't think these folks cared. They wanted to make a point, and did so beautifully.
Don't try to let your ideals trump human nature. That's why socialism fails.
@banjoeyes1234 Regardless of its origins, it has come to represent the good in America. Watch Red Skeltons piece on the pledge sometime and you might grasp what it has come to mean to a lot of people.
It's not state worship, but a way to grasp the ideals our founding fathers instilled in American through the Constitution.
@weneedmccain While it's true that Bellamy was a socialist, the pledge he penned omitted any shades of socialism when Bellamy intentionally and under great popular pressure left out the politically loaded socialist phrase "equality" he had considered adding and limited the pledge to the two "pillars" of American independence, "liberty and justice for all."
@weneedmccain It's brainwashing... If you repeat something enough times, it becomes a normal thought, and that's when they have you hook, line, and sinker... They got you by the balls, and they'll send your son off to Die so that rich assholes can keep their properties. And you stupid people keep giving into this patriotism bullshit that they want you to be a slave to... They need you to be brainwashed, so that you'll die serving them....
@banjoeyes1234 America, We are sick and tired of these Socialist Liberals. Time to take back our country. As A Marine Combat Veteran, With two kids currently flying combat missions in Afghanistan. This is bull shit!!!!! Semper Fi
@banjoeyes1234 I am calling you out, The Pledge was written by Francis Bellamy a Baptist minister who was a Christian Socialist. A huge difference then what you claim .Get your facts correct. "State worship" my ass, its called "PATRIOTISM". you moron.
AWESOME!!!!!!!! I love it! I wish I was there! Big BOO to League of Womens Voters!!! Everybody just ignore her and STOOD UP and say the Pledge of Allegiance!!! Love it! Keep GOOOHing and Keep the Pledge of Allegiance ALIVE! :) Kelmi
McCain is a RINO for amnesty, open borders, anchor babies, embryonic, not adult, stem cell research, cap and trade, etc. Need I go on. McCain has been in Washington D.C. for (28) years and has done nothing but 'reach across the aisle'. Has everyone already forgotten about his most recent amnesty legislation in 2007 with Ted Kennedy? How soon we forget. My friends, McCain is not a conservative. Voting for McCain is like voting for a Democrat. We don't need McCain. We need J.D. Hayworth.
@SyverCyber I do not disagree with you. Keep in mind SyverCyber, I formed this page in 2008, during the Presidential Election. McCain was the only possibility to defeating Obama at the time.
I have kept this page simply because the first ever GOP viral video is on this page and I don't want to loose my 14 million views.
Didn't the moderator take longer stating why she felt the Pledge was unnecessary than the crowd did to actually say it? They would have gotten down to business sooner if she had had the presence of mind (and requisite decency) to start the Pledge herself. It was a public gathering for a US congressional debate. That's enough of a reason right damn there.
@KenV Yes she did. I did not show her arrogance and how she spoke to the audience with disdain and contempt. I now have that portion of the evening uploaded, feel free to contact the League of Women Voters and freely exercise your first amendment rights.
Give me a break it takes less than a minute to put your hand over your heart and say the Pledge .... Men and women have died for this right ... God Bless America!
Give me a break ... it takes less than a minute to put your hand over your heart and say the pledge ... Men and Women have died to give you this "RIGHT" ... God Bless America
God bless the good people of Illinois who attended this event and demanded they be allowed to say their pledge of allegiance to America - One Nation Under God. We Christians need to stand up and resist the attempts of these atheist liberals to drive God from our lives and our American way of life and to deny us our right and duty to pledge allegiance to our great country. America is a Christian nation. It was founded that way. It has always been so. It will always remain so.
@mseljos Wait till you see what I do with that feminazi arrogant elitist moderator. Oh my, the tone and disrespect she leveled at the audience was reprehensible. You haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to put it up. No one should ever put a microphone within a mile of her mouth.
@weneedmccain - People like this woman are putrid cancers in our society. They have no respect for America, for our Constitution or for our Christian beliefs. I abhor people like her. I will proudly stand up as a Christian and defy her and all the other atheists who believe as she does. I am a Vietnam war veteran who spent 13 years of his youth defending the American people and their freedoms, and I'll be damned if I'm going to sit idly by and allow these idiots to destroy our great nation.
@mseljos Get this, the moderator is a retired teacher, which means she's living large off our tax dollars and an over-blown education pension + we are subsidizing her health care. And she talks to taxpayers like this.
@mseljos As A Vietnam Vet 66-69 I stand shoulder to shoulder with you on you gracious comments. The torch of liberty was passed from my father to me, now it is passed to my children to defend They flying for the marines at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan... God Protect them all.. Thus is not why we fought, We took Allegiance at when we enlisted and lived by it everyday....
@mediaphotographer God bless the U.S.A. God bless our brave warriors. I pray for your children's safety and for the safety of all who are in harm's way in their fight against evil. All Americans should be filled with pride for what these brave young men and women are doing to protect the world and us from tyranny.
@mseljos Too bad you didn't die for your country. You know a real hero is someone who straps dynamite to his body in order to kill you, the enemy invader..... Now that is loyalty to a country. Fuck the flag. Your governement sent you over to die so the rich man can keep his mansions. Your government doesn't give two shits about you. And if you would have died, it would have been for lies... You aren't defending any country, but only government lies, the same as they do today.
I would rather swear to uphold and defend the Constitution. I can do without the "under God" bit. quibble-quibble-quibble.
That said:
For a room full of U.S. citizens to stand up, spontaneously, against the wishes of an obviously hostile "moderator", and deliver the Pledge, fills my heart with pride and joy.
It's our country. You socialist creeps almost got it, but tipped your hand a little too soon with Obama.
I am amazed at how many people feel no allegiance or respect to anything. Not to parents who brought them to maturity. Not to their teachers who gave them at least the rudimentary information to read, write and communicate. Not even thankful for their fateful birth in a country which provides opportunity to live even the most dissolute life.
As a Veteran it should be the requirement for public events that our pledge be voiced. Most do it and I am proud to hear it - America I love you and will never leave you, I am your soldier and will fight for you until my last breath! God Bless America.

@pseudohippie55 People like you are people that are just plain sick. This was plained in a strict time contrastant schedule for high school students. If she did not have time to allow the pledge to be spoken well that does not mean she is anit-american or not patriotic at all, atleast she turned around and said the pledge, me and my friends decided to participate because we respect her descision.
@xENViiNO1 So...how much did saying the Pledge mess with the meeting? How much time did it take? Did you have to deny someone a speech? Did you have to shorten the time? Did you have to take out a question?
Really...it toolk 13 seconds! 13 seconds! How can you be under that much of a time constraint? When you do something like this, you put in at least 1 minute or so of a "buffer" for mishaps. A 13 second interuption can't be that bad.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@pseudohippie55 The fact is that this was SUSPOSED to be civil debate/forum for ONLY myself and my fellow high school students. This was my first forum and it was the farthest thing from civil. Now im going to ask you a question do you say the pledge everytime you enter work, days off from work, anywhere you go at the begining of your day? I highly doubt that! The fact is that she disrespected our high school and our student body!!!!
@xENViiNO1 Of course I don'. There is no flag at my place of work, so I cannot. I,'m saying you say the Pledge at any meeting or debate or meeting.
But how was this not civil? Did something else happen after the Pledge that is not shown here? I truly want to know. There's no way you can think saying the Pledge is uncivil.
@pseudohippie55 And it does not matter if there is no flag at your work, all that matters is that you are showing nationalism.
Yes, i did see much that not shown in this video, such as side conversations going on thoughout the whole forum even though the LWV lady mentioned to be more silent and this was strictly a learning experience for the students and even that simple rule was not even obeyed!
@xENViiNO1 I strongly disagree. I have the entire unedited video with a live mic, the room was VERY respectful, even though they certainly wanted to voice their consternation at some of the answers.
Further, I do not agree with a format that muzzels voters, open townhall debates are they way it should be done.
It was the audience who paid for that stage, and the mike that seemed attached to that anal-retentive, elitists mouth throughout the night.
@xENViiNO1 I have now seen the rest of this, and I agree, this woman acts like a child, but the audience did respect that rule. They were respectful, the "woman" does not act that way. She acts as if she were a child. She does not deserve to have the title of "woman" in my opinion.
A "woman" means a mature female who respects those around her. This child does not. She truly needs to grow up. And I pray for her sake she does.
@xENViiNO1 there were NO side conversations. The ONLY person who interrupted this debate was Kathy. I saw the rest of this debate and heard no side conversations from the audience.
I'd suggest that you stop lying to get your point across. Lying makes you look rather immature my friend.
You're too old to use blatant lies to try to make a point, especially when anyone can see that you are lying.
The only person who interrupted was the moderator.
@xENViiNO1 Watch weneedccain' 2nd video and TELL me where the audience is interupting. Give me a time in the video. Give me a moment. Tell me EXACTLY where the audience is having a "side conversation"
Please don't act like a Liberal and just ignore my question.
@pseudohippie55 You are correct. I purposefully added some extra length before the moderators rude interruptions to prove the audience were model citizens. Even Bean didn't understand the reasons for the interruptions.
I have the whole thing on tape, with a live microphone - I did not tap into the mixer. Considering how rude the moderator was being, the audience was fantastic.
@pseudohippie55 I've challenged the papers who have called the Walsh supporters unruly, rowdy, uncivil and undisciplined. I've got the whole debate on tape, from an OPEN mic, not tapped into the PA system, it picks up everything. So far, not one of the cowards have taken me up on it.
@xENViiNO1 Well I see your do not LOVE America AS YOU SHOULD! IT IS YOUR DUTY YOUNG PERSON TO ALWAYS PLEDGE YOUR LOYALTY TO YOUR COUNTRY NOT MATTER WHAT THE EVENT IS OR WHERE IT IS OR WHAT YOU ARE DOING! MEN AND WOMEN DIED FOR YOUR FREEDOM HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR THEM AND THE VERY COUNTRY THAT PROVIDES YOUR THE FREEDOM!
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United
States of America, and to the Republic for which it Stands, One Nation
under GOD, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."
@xENViiNO1 And yes I do, I say the Pledge and OATH to protect and defend America everyday when I raise in the morning!
"I, Todd Homman, do solemnly swear and affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same, that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, pledging my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor, so help me, GOD
@xENViiNO1 That moderator took more time than anyone else. She dominated the forum, treated the audience with disdain and contempt. If I hadn't been part of the media I would have given her a what for.
@pseudohippie55 hey dick head... you dont know what it means to have a chat or debate with out try'n to put someone down. TJ is the answer... and you dont know what it means to recite the pledge other wise you would of done so... two points for the home team... oh yeah and you never fought for your country coward
If you want to disrespect someone, make sure you have proper grammar.
Oh, and one more thing: Don't you think it might be a good idea not to call someone call a "dick head" while telling me I can't debate without putting someone down (IE, don't be a hypocrite).
So tell me, what DOES it mean to recite the Pledge?
@pseudohippie55 you started he nasty shit... so dont forget it... all i wrote was well you go back and reread that... the idot part you came up with all on your own like a big kid would... and whats this crap about facts... people dont know what it means to take an oath even those people you seem to support... most of them not all of them... burn :p
You're next response, (if you make one) will say something along the lines of "you're an idiot! STFU!" and you will, again, fail to answer my question.
Get over it. You overly Patriotic people have taken all the meaning out of say, wearing a flag pin, or saying the pledge. @panpan4088 Well if you start an argument with someone, you should expect to keep that "argument" going.
And how am I stubborn?
I want PROOF towards the words you speak.
Wanting you to back up your talk with facts is being stubborn?
That's odd.
You have no proof, McCain does. Ergo, I feel it only fair to believe the man who has proof rather than a man who simply talks without proof.

It takes TWENTY SECONDS! It doesn't matter if it's never been done before at your little meetings, They're asking to do it now!

Obama REFUSED to put his hand over where his heart should be during our National Anthem.

being a REAL american means one has the right NOT to say the pledge of allegiance. that any god damned "christian" thinks otherwise is called IGNORANCE of the US constitution's provisions.
the idea this is a Christian nation is a lie. rather IT IS A NATION OF CHRISTIANS, many of whom are, ignorant, intolerant, bigoted, fear mongers & not Christians at all!
and, no matter how much those "christians" think they're being repressed, this video in fact, proves how oppressive they are!
shame on them!

The best thing to come out of this is the ract there were students there. They now (most likely for the first time) get to hear the Pledge of Allegiance. As well as the fact they get to see what true love and devotion to one's country stands for. and how to show it.

50srefugee 1 year ago
@banjoeyes1234 Regardless of its origins, it has come to represent the good in America. Watch Red Skeltons piece on the pledge sometime and you might grasp what it has come to mean to a lot of people.
It's not state worship, but a way to grasp the ideals our founding fathers instilled in American through the Constitution.
If only you understood real freedom.
weneedmccain 1 year ago 6
@weneedmccain While it's true that Bellamy was a socialist, the pledge he penned omitted any shades of socialism when Bellamy intentionally and under great popular pressure left out the politically loaded socialist phrase "equality" he had considered adding and limited the pledge to the two "pillars" of American independence, "liberty and justice for all."

@banjoeyes1234 how is it state worship?
I mean, When Key wrote the poem, he never knew it would become our National anthem.
He simply wrote it because he was in awe at the fact that it was still standing during a war.
It isn't worship, it's respect for the US flag and nothing more.

@xENViiNO1 so the fact that they NEVER say the Pledge means they didn't have time?
Did you notice how long it took to say the Pledge? Less then 30 seconds. Are you really under THAT strict of a time constraint?
Come on. That's preposterous.
You are supposed to say the Pledge at any meeting. But the fact that they NEVER do it means she disrespects the Pledge.
It's not that she didnt have time, its that she doesn't want to say it.
It takes 20 seconds.
pseudohippie55 1 year ago 3
@xENViiNO1 So...how much did saying the Pledge mess with the meeting? How much time did it take? Did you have to deny someone a speech? Did you have to shorten the time? Did you have to take out a question?
Really...it toolk 13 seconds! 13 seconds! How can you be under that much of a time constraint? When you do something like this, you put in at least 1 minute or so of a "buffer" for mishaps. A 13 second interuption can't be that bad.

@pseudohippie55 The fact is that this was SUSPOSED to be civil debate/forum for ONLY myself and my fellow high school students. This was my first forum and it was the farthest thing from civil. The fact is that she disrespected our high school and our student body!!!!
xENViiNO1 1 year ago
@xENViiNO1 Of course I don'. There is no flag at my place of work, so I cannot. I,'m saying you say the Pledge at any meeting or debate or meeting.

pseudohippie55 1 year ago
@pseudohippie55 And it does not matter if there is no flag at your work, all that matters is that you are showing nationalism.
Yes, i did see much that not shown in this video, such as side conversations going on thoughout the whole forum even though the LWV lady mentioned to be more silent and this was strictly a learning experience for the students and even that simple rule was not even obeyed!
xENViiNO1 1 year ago
@xENViiNO1 I strongly disagree. I have the entire unedited video with a live mic, the room was VERY respectful, even though they certainly wanted to voice their consternation at some of the answers.
Further, I do not agree with a format that muzzels voters, open townhall debates are they way it should be done.
It was the audience who paid for that stage, and the mike that seemed attached to that anal-retentive, elitists mouth throughout the night.
weneedmccain 1 year ago
@xENViiNO1 I have now seen the rest of this, and I agree, this woman acts like a child, but the audience did respect that rule. They were respectful, the "woman" does not act that way. She acts as if she were a child. She does not deserve to have the title of "woman" in my opinion.
A "woman" means a mature female who respects those around her. This child does not. She truly needs to grow up. And I pray for her sake she does.
