Vanessa Atler, too inconsistent for the U.S to use in Sydney. Kristie Phillips, had a terrible olympic trials that consisted of two falls and she really couldn't have helped the U.S. Hollie Vise, would've only been used on bars and beam and the U.S was already strong enough on those events. Alexandra Marinescu, actually pulled out of the AA because she had developed bad habits and wasn't a hard worker...not because she was "young". Mukhina, Henrich, Grivich are the only real "Tragedies"
@MyKristenStewart well, she under-rotated it in a training practice right before the olympics, thus breaking her neck. she died years later of complications that were related to the injury.
Sabina's team doctor gave her a drug that was not supposed to be taken by children - that caused her all kinds of problems. But she's gone on to have a singing career and is very good, unlike Carly Patterson, who can't hold a tune to save her ass.
@whateverdud666 uhhmmm shut the hell up. We clearly don't just do cartwheels and splits. I want to see you do a yuchenko vault or a round off back handspring step out back full and a half step out front hand spring double punch front.... Exactly, you can't. So before you say that gymnastics sucks maybe you should check out a few videos of routines first. And if you can do eerythin they can then comment away. Otherwise. Shut up.
I hate gymnastics, all they do is splits and cartwheels and crap. So what? Why dont they spend their time doing something real. And I know people are going to be like "Oh m gosh like they have soo much strength!" Yeah? Well so do a lot of people.
Wow.. that's a beautiful montage... I'm sorry, I'm an Italian girl and I don't understand english very well so.. How hilary grivich died? Thank you for posting this video.. I loved it!! <3
@RawSteelUT Alexandra did carry on in competitions in 1997 but due to recurring injuries on her back she retired. Alexandra started mixing as a Dj in local clubs and quickly became a resident Dj at Deva's best club. In parallel she started producing music with "Contact" (3 Liquid Hz) and in 2006, released her first solo EP. In 2007, Alexandra founded 3 Liquid Hz Records along with other 2 musicians Since May 2008 she start hosting "Nuances" monthly at DI.fm which she still does regularly.
@iloveyourstory you obviously can't read then because I gave credit to her that it was my inspiration. No need to be so critical when nobody's asking you to watch these videos.
When I was a freshmon in high school I bet a JV gymast to the last spot on varcity, she tolled me that I would never take the team to stait cus I was fat, I tuck it to hart and stoped eating. The coach of the teams relised this and kicked the girl off JV cus he said the we were to be a family, if one person hurts a nother, then that person is hurting the inter family. She booed me at the state championshep, but gess what. we tock state.
the judge don't have anything to do with it. Personality responsibility! People have called me a fat ass before, but that doesn't mean I'm going to starve myself. She the one I feel the least sorry for.
I don't take it personally that you just called me a retard. I know I'm brilliant! Stop bitching and moaning . Take responsibility for yourself girly.
it so sad to see some gymnasts who missed their chance when it wasnt their vault. vanessa atler is the only one who really didnt even deserve to go in my opinion-she wasnt very consistent in my book...
but its so sad a judge told a girl to lose weight!!! may he/she burn in hell forever for saying that!!! thats cruel, and it killed her!!
I rarely follow men's gymnstics outside of the Team USA in the olympic year. It wouldn't be fair to make a montage about something i know nothing about
plus the male gymnasts can usually try again, some men gymnasts are 30 years old, they tend to be adults, while the girls usually peak in their teens so it's more of a one shot thing.
It's so sad to see so many great gymnasts that never got to live out their dreams! I love Hollie Vise! She was a great gymnast! I think that Hilary Grivich is one of the most underrated gymnasts of all time!!!!!!!
I agree! She got the raw end of the deal in Barcelona. They didnt want Bela to have too many athletes on the team (he already had 3) so they didnt name her to it. Really sad - she was great. RIP Hilary, we miss you!
honestly i don't really think i am a sick person. I was just displaying how good these gymnasts were even though they never got the chance to show it...
Actually, no offense, but "fall from grace" means "to sin" or "to be the cause of your own downfall". This vid should be retitled "athletes who died too young". It is a sad video, but these people are not really to blame for their lives.
vanessa didn't make the olympic team for more reasons than that nasty fall on her beam dismount. she was consistently crumbling under pressure - i think her beam meltdown at worlds in '99 and problems afterwards (and also including her falling on bars at almost every competition since nationals finals '97) did her in, since it was up to the "selection committee." she's a great gymnast, just couldn't get her bars consistent & didn't handle pressure as well as some. great video though!
great job! that is really sad! :[ especially the last one. thats realy rude!! how culd a judge do that??? some of the reasons a re bad ones. Poor gymnasts!
@zaclover343 I would suspect that the judge in question has been second guessing herself ever since reading Christy's obituary--assuming that she has any kind of a consience.

I sure hope English isn't your first language because if so you should have focused more on learning how to spell rather than gymnastics
