His sons told a story about how a gentleman named John at one of their concerts told them: Once when John was driving his mom's car on a first date in LA when he was sixteen, they came up to a red light and Rick Nelson rolled up in his Caddy beside them. John's date was freaking out, and Rick rolled down his window and said to John, "Hey man, we hit the studios again on Tuesday, let me know."

He was a wingman to a complete stranger. That's bad ass any day of the week.

rick was the real deal. he never has gotten the respect/acclaim that he earned/deserved due to his looks/teen idol image. he had a great voice. he forged a unique niche in music. he was country rock before there was a name for it. + james burton was the man!!!
