wha wha mirza sahib you have me back almost 50 years i sat with madan mohan sahib up to two o clock at night he was good singer but his compositions are superb thank alot mirza jee . this has happened in amritsar madan mohan in-laws are from amritsar
Lataji was not in Bombay when this song was recorded. Madan Mohanji got it recorded in his own voice and when Lataji returned to Bombay, her voice was dubbed for this song. Interestingly, when the song was being recorded in MM's voice one Sardarji, who was unaware of the actual matter, commented after the recording in the voice of MM that if such song was retained in this film it was sure to be a super flop. Incidentally, film was a super duper hit and this very song was the most popular song.
Strange, I am liking this even more than Lataji's version (not that I am saying Lataji's version is any less). may be it was sung by the composer himself and it came out exactly the way he wanted with proper pain and emotion.
I love this version in Madanmohan's voice himself. I think he should have sung some of his songs in movies. There is a touch of Talat mahmood in his voice. If there was a need for male version of this song in the movie "woh kaun thi" I think he would have used Talat's voice.
Hi,again it was apleasure to listen Madan mohan this was time when composers used to sing for singers so as they can get the best result from singers,
