His high notes simply weren't there live after about 1982-83. Not as consistently anyway. But then he was in his 40s by that point. High singing is a young mans game when you're not a trained singer.

my whole family are queen fans especiallymy oldest brother who was only 16 when he passed away in 1985. this song was played at his funeral and i find it very touching and a little upsetting. wish i had seen freddie live before he left us but i was only 9 at that sad time. i know my brother will be rocking with freddie now though, damn im upsetting myself
