  • i liked it a lot!!!

  • thanks for the video! it was a great help because i'm getting two african dwarf frogs and i don't know how to feed them but thanks again for the great help! i liked that video thanks!

  • not trying to criticize or anything but i noticed your fish flakes are going under the same heat that you're using to thaw the bloodworms. I can't help but think this would cause potential mold or affect freshness/vitamin content. Is there no other method you could use?

  • You sir have an African Clawed Frog, not a Dwarf African Frog.

  • @cjwooods123 Thats an african dwarf frog. Make a simple google search and you will see the diffrence

  • @Graome Umm..... no its not ive owned african dwarf frogs for a long time and that is a baby clawed frog, the two are commonly mistaken.

  • @cjwooods123 What makes you think it's an clawed frog? I have 5 African dwarf frogs myself, so i know how they look like. If you look close you can see it has webbed feet. African clawed frogs dont have that.

  • @Graome Wrong again, Clawed Frogs have webbed feet, they just don't have webbed hands. Both are webbed on Dwarf Frogs.

  • Dude your tank looks great, nice video! That glove is a good idea.

  • Lovely tank

  • so after i saw this viedo I got some big 117inch tweezers that have red ruber over the tip, well after feeding my new frogs with them for bout 3 weeks I noticed they started trying to attack my pink n red betta, and the redpard at the bottem of the thermostat, so i moved them to my other tank with my black n blue betta and they wont attack him, so even though there known to have bad eyesight i thinking they can see color, or atlest red..... weird hu?

  • thanks for showing this video, its a real big help!!!

  • you could always use a brine shrimp net to bring him to the surface to feed him. =)

  • Lmao, the fish are like "MINE, MINE, MINE, MINE".

Thanks for the information though. I'm getting a couple of these in a few days :)

  • mine lived for 9 years when its was supose to live for 2

  • dude just put the blood worm in the shelter corners ive got 4 no fish go near them saves u faffin with that stuff just a thought but nice tank mate

  • you dope

  • Why the fuck do you need that stupid glove?

  • @frantahouska because the oils from your hands can harm the fish

  • @frantahouska he said it in the vid u deaf shit

  • @frantahouska he said in the vid u deaf prick

  • @AwesomeAssassin1000 you dont need no fucking gloves unless you are janitor like you are "ASSASIN" you moron!

  • can u get cold water frogs?

  • Carni-vorous? Do you mean Carnivorous? Lawl.

  • The cd title was 'Carnivores' lol

  • where can I get big tweasers like that?

  • @Tennisfan27 they are mainly for lizards and snakes... so look near the reptile area in your pet store :)

  • and,um.so,make up your mind LOL :D

  • Great video!!

  • 7 minutes and 17 seconds of "easy"... Thanks =)

  • what size tank is that

  • thanks for sharing. tank looks awesome

  • cool

  • I got my frog at brookstone and it has a much smaller tank and it also said on a website not to have fish in the same tank. the website also said to have a hiding spot for the frogs is all this neccasary? what should its tank look like? nice video by the way!

  • @Scolpina11 You definetly need hiding spots, and have a few plants(depending on tank size) and the decorations are your choice.

  • Clawed and Dwarf frogs aren't the same species. Keep that in mind, it's important.

  • Does the frog need to come up for air like other frogs or is it perfectly fine staying under water 100% of the time like fish?

  • @zerounite no goes up to the surface to breathe air now and again

  • @brandonashplant IN that case will I have to buy some floating rock (like the one's in a turtle's aquarium) so that the frog stays happy?

  • @zerounite No i Have one and I keep it in a full tank of water! (with other gold fish because they are fully aquatic frogs LOL

  • @brandonashplant Cool ... thnx for the infos

  • Can fantail goldfish get along with african dwarf frogs?

  • @kenny123663 yeh I have two goldfish and one baby African clawed frog and they just get on fine LOL

  • i have 3 African dwarf frogs and i dont hand feed them and they do just fine. they are the only fish in there besides a sucker fish who cleans up what they dont eat

  • what a beautiful tank

  • wait, are the frozen bloodworms alive? do they move around when they thaw out?

  • @Lethalis1234 nah bloodworms ar bassically baby bloodworms that as soon as theyre born the manufacturer scoops them up and freezes them to kill them and any bacteria so you feed a dead worm that has all the nutrients but no bacteria

  • OMG you sound like Monkeydude1212!!!!

  • @amthebadman yeah dunno about the sharks, but the barbs alone will kill your guppies

  • I don't know about those 2 sharks being together. The Red Tail will start it, but the Bala will grow huge & finish it by kicking the Red Tail's ass.

  • hey im going to show u what i have i have enough gallons btw is this a good set?3 guppies

    1 bala shark

    2 tiger barbs

    2 green tiger barbs

    1 red tailed shark

  • THANKS BRO.

  • accually , my african dwarf frog is 6 years old , i dont hand feed him ( but i will start to do it now ) i dont have a heater or a tank filter and i dont let the bloodworm to thaw out so i conssider myself very lucky to have him.

  • @DesisQ no they will rotten and dry out..........I hav one xD

  • Can african dwarf frogs go on land?

  • are those live plants

  • @TheGoldfishtech doesnt look like it. you can see the plastic bases

  • OMGGGGGGGGG thats a clawed frog and in florida they are ILLEGAL!!!

  • @AquaticNERD777 what!?

  • @MriBackup yea .but companies can sell them(ship them).

  • @AquaticNERD777 I have one =D

  • @AquaticNERD777 wrere can you get african clawed frogs

  • @moonbound100 SORRY I DIDNT GET TO YOU BUT WHERE DO U LIVE?

  • @AquaticNERD777 tomball,texas

  • @moonbound100 i dont know cause i live in alaska.but perhaps online.

  • @AquaticNERD777 thanks

  • @moonbound100 sure but i recomend xenopus one.com

  • @AquaticNERD777 Clawed, check my vids brah

  • I put some of the aquarium water into a dish and add the block of frozen blood worm, it defrosts and breaks down pretty fast. I then use a plastic pipette to feed the frog directly to his mouth.

  • Hey I really like your vids and im gonna get a 29-30 gallon fish tank and i want to know the dimensions of you tank. thx!

  • Great video! I have been wondering how I should feed my frog and (after he turned white) I decided that hand feeding was the best way. This video was great encouragement. Thank you! (P.S. don't listen to anything negative anyone has to say. People are cruel and the video was great).

  • helpful

  • all those fish are carni-vorus, use a turkey baster instead of a whole arm, and then thaw the bloodworms in tank wanter......this should be titled "how to feed a frog: the *&%$* way: extended borning version"

  • all those fish are carni-vorus

  • carni-vorous its car-niv-or-ous.....

  • carni-vorous its car-niv-or-ous.....

  • Is it ok if i feed them these sort of frog pellets

  • you say that, but mine does a good job of picking pellets off the bottom on his one. That said he is in with only micro fish. green neon tetras and burmese danios.

  • Also, part of my flakes sink and they LOVE them! All 8 of my frogs !! So there are a couple ways of doing it. Anf how many fish do you have? AND i saw you have a betta condo, where do you get those??

  • How many do you have? I have 8(:

  • is a 5 gallon good for 2 adf?

  • do i need to do this if i have a betta with 2 adfs ?

  • hey Im gona be getting a adf and I was wondering where did you get the big tweezers from?

  • I got this frog and I never feed it. It always eats the fish food but I think I'm going to start this week feeding it the worms

  • very cool! I never knew about the blood worms. I had 2 African frogs that lived for 7 and 8 years. I would always catch baby crawdads at the creek and put them in the tank. and by morning time, there would be empty shells floating on the surface. I'm thinking of getting 2 more and now that I don't live near a creek, I'll try your method.

  • do yo half to hand feed it

  • you should get a small cup with tank water in it defrost the worms in that for like 3 minutes pour then through a fine fish net then lower your net down to the frog it will go in and take the worms then no need for those silly gloves lol

  • what tempeture did you set the heater on?

  • do you have a in it?

  • thank you for not keeping a 1/3 of a gallon gup with 3 frogs in it like alot of other dumb careless people. Yuo got a good setup and it looks like you have done alot to care for your frog, ty great job! lead by example

  • what size tank is that

  • 55 gallon tank?

  • BTW, no need for long gloves. Use a long plastic tube with a notch cut out in one end. Drop tube into a corner and drop food in from the top.

If a fish comes too close, simply twist the tube around and the fish can't enter.

    Easy....

  • Try feeding raw fish flesh like Salmon or Tilapia. I've kept DAFs for over 6 years...

See The Aquarium Wiki Encyclopaedia web site and type in DAF.

Be careful of bloodworm as some people can develop a horrible allergy against it when you touch it. Took me 2 years and now I can't touch it without my face swelling up!

  • Is it possible to have other fish in the same tank where the frog is in?

  • You should get him a buddy, i think it would live longer if you gave him or her a mate!

  • @KamSparrow his frog is dead now, he mentioned it in an update

  • What I do to "unfreeze" the bloodworms I put them into an empty can and add water from the fishtank. Let them sit there for about a minute and then just spin the can a little bit and voila. No need to build a tower to reach the light :)

  • @Parad0XUA - I simply cut the cube into 4 and drop it in a plastic transparent tube which is inserted vertically in the aquarium, the cube will float. When the water defrosts the cube, it sinks. The frog smells the worms and comes to the tube. As there is a notch in the end I can twist the tube to block any fish getting in.

In all my 6 years for feeding DAFs I've never had to hand feed my frogs. If your frog isn't interested in the food in 5-8 mins, it's not really that hungry.

  • Cool video. I liked the way you fed them. You should get another one they like to socialize. They are fun to watch when they play. I have been feeding mine the aquatic frog pellets. I am going to try feeding them blood worms and brine shrimp.

  • I thought blood worms have no nutritional value?

  • great video, i dont have to worry about fish since i keep the frogs separate in a 7 gallon tank. the two play and frolic and are so fun to watch

  • Nice video, tank and instructions. I just got a dwarf frog. I been trying to feed it and its hard. I am going to have to do what you do now. Mine eats the flakes but I heard that not good enough. I tried dried blood worms but they float to the top. I guess now its hand feeding time.

  • " I make a tower to thaw them out instead of just letting them set in a top full of aquarium water, much more logical." ; )

  • aww, african drawf frogs are soooo cute! i had some before but they died :(

  • Hey thanks for the advice... i have subscribed to your videos i think your very helpful. I have one question. i do pretty much excactly the same thing you do but when i put the tweezers into the water, the worms just scatter all over the place and the frogs cannot find any worms.... do i have to thaw then out a bit longer?

  • How do you keep it so clean?!

  • @MriBackup its called a filter look into it

  • @thelegobrick91 a filter alone will keep it clean?

  • @MriBackup well there might be some stuff you will have to clean but you wont have to clean it as much like maybe once every 6 months or so

  • @MriBackup a filter big enough will keep it clean, especially if you get filter pads with activated carbon to keep it clear. but you still need to do water changes every week.

  • @JonnyMakesVideos Every weeek!? just got my first tank, its been pretty good so far

  • @MriBackup well yeah you have to do water changes, even though you think its clean on the gravel all their waste collects and turns toxic if its not cleaned out with a siphon or gravel vac

  • Beautiful tank!

  • i notice when i sit by the tank, right away mine gets as close to me in the tank as he can an i take that as a sign he wants food, ill feed him and he'll eat, then he'll come back by me for a visit. while i was observing him today(and he observing me)i slouched a little lower then the tank to pet my cat and my frog started clawing the rocks like he thought i was under them or something. i think my frog wants to be friends lol or maybe he thinks im his mommy.kinda weird and entertaining

  • things can be easier dude....keep it simple

  • i got a tank with a filter in it. i have no idea what the filter does. does it just clean the water

  • you helped me alot ty

  • If I had a tank of only Dwarf African Frogs ( 3 or 4 total) could I just get kind of a bowl and put say about 16 blood worms in there every other day? Or would there be some trouble with that?

  • minegoes up to get the blood worms and goes aganst the other fish for them and ive had him 3 years

  • i just recently bought a tank like your and i was wondering if you could tell me how many and what kind of fish you got, thanks.

  • Hey what kind of fish can I put with my 2 African dwarf frogs I have 1 snail and I used to have a betta fish but he died. And I only have a two gallon tank and I dont want any fish that will attack my frogs or my frogs attack the fish.

    Thanks for your help

  • A single frog is pretty sad..atleast 3 as these guys are social and scare easy alone.

  • A single frog is pretty sad..atleast 3 as these guys are social and scare easy alone.

  • how long have you had him?

  • O shit my frogs are dead, thats why they died i never knew they ate that cool,i am going to buy two more tomorrow :)

  • love the tank

  • great video

  • hey whats up .. can i do the frogs in a 20 gallon tank and is your tank heated??

  • u say every other day but the petsmart site says 1-2 times a day.. thats a pretty big difference..

  • Where did you get the long tweezers from? I got my son a frog and we are having a hard time getting him to eat.

  • Beautiful aquarium. :)

  • u sholdnt have your tank that deep it makes it hard for them to get air

  • Good video! :D

  • Your aquarium is so colorful and... Happy!

  • hey guys come help me with a question about my african dwarf frogs boring tank!

  • Thats cool. The pet store I bought mine from said to just drop pellets in there, and I did but it was difficult. I never saw him eat but he got very fat. I wasn't exactly sure how to feed them other stuff, but after I watched this I tried it out. It's working out quite well. =]

  • Could one frog live in a 3.5 gallon tank with my halfmoon Betta?

  • Hey, this was great! Thank you...I got mine today, and I've been pondering how to feed the two of them without my fish stealing all the food...I appreciate the advice!

  • Thank you :)

  • Do they to come out of the water to breath or just 100 percent aquatic? THanks

  • @FamilyofPeople they breath air but require water to survive

  • I recently got two ADF and you are definitely right about handfeeding them. I have pellets and i have to stick my hand down there to feed them. They usually come straight to my hand. I was thinking about getting the blood worms but the pellets are working pretty well.

  • Hi, I just got my frog about a week ago and she's been eating fish food flakes...She just had ONE tadpole yesterday, so random...but will she be ok if I continue to just feed her the flakes...she does go get them once they float down...Thanks!!

  • you said that its not recommended to buy these if you arent willing to hand feed the frog blood worms every other day, but i went to a pet store and there are frog pellots you can feed it. thats fine right? instead of bloodworms

  • How can I tell if my frogs are female or male??? I read off the internet that females are bigger thank males & lighter but that confuses me with my frog.

  • @DrDarwins The famale has a bigger "tail" and are alot larger. The males have a "white pimple" behind their arm.

  • @jenngriggs thx

  • Very informative. Thank you!

  • i like these frogs I used to have 6 but they eventually passed away then I buried then so the earth could naturally decompose them.

  • Thats not hand feeding a frog. Hand feeding a frog is feeding them with YOUR HAND!

  • that was so long!!! u dont rlly need a long glove and tweezers. just whittle yourself a long stick with a lil groove in the middle at the end and shove some worms into the lil part. i saw bear grylls do it :D

thats how i've been feeding mine 4 the past year or so.

  • lol u even have a rug with fish on it? (dork) lol jk jk im obsessed too. great info. ive bought the little pellets because a fish specialist (not the guys at petco, they suck), and he said thats ok, but i try to feed them bloodworms too.

  • hi i bought 2 ADFs 3 days ago. and we got some pellet food. but when i drop them in (near their faces) they ignore them and swim off. i Have dried hand feeding them the pellets, but the ignore them. i dont have frozen bloodworms, but i have frezze dried ones that i use for my betta. (they float). I tried hand feeding the frogs those but the worms "break" and float to the top. What should i do!

  • How often should i feed my frog??? When i bought my frog they said to feed it x2 a week. But i feed my frogs x2 (Mornin, night) a day because they tell me they r hungry (i now speak frog). What should i do??? Some one plz ans me.

    ~ Darwin

  • @DrDarwins- As I say in the video, I usually feed mine every other day. Even though they may look hungry to you, this is normal behavior and feeding them twice a day is a little to much food. It is up to you how often you feed them, but it is recommended that you skip some days in between each feeding.

  • @DrDarwins i have them from brookstone 2 times a week and i feed 2 pellets per frog

  • Hey I like ur vid but just so you know you should not have gravel because they will eat it! I know this! A lot of people tell me they cant, but what a lot of people don't realize is that these frogs will eat things as big as their heads! You shouldn't have your fish in their because after a while, your frog will attack them and try to eat them, even though they are bigger. African clawed frogs, (dwarf or not) will eat anything that moves! So remove either your frog or your fish.

  • ok.... so i just got my African dwarf aquatic frog today like 3 min ago. The store keeper said to feed them 2x a week with thoes little brown pebllets. SHould the blood worms be xtra or replace them with the brown thing? CAn u help me???

  • Well I have regular clawed frogs which grow a lot bigger and they have been feeding on freeze dried bloodworms and nothing else!

  • Hi, i have a question about two things, is 1 gallon enough for two small dwarf frogs, they originally came in one of those cube eco-aquarium things, i upgraded to a 1 gallon betta bowl, is that good enough for them and my other question is how many fish should i keep in my 30 gallon. i have 20 small small fish.???

  • @trucklover9 hey man a 1 gallon is way toooooo small for 2 dwarfs... i would reccomend at least a 10 or not at the way way minimum a 5. and a 30 gallon you can keep about 20-25 fish prob about 40 fish ( only 40 if there is about 4 jiant plants about 2 small boats and 1 small cave and gravel ) i reccomend for a 20 gallon for a filter prob about a 50 or a 75 aqua clear power filter.... assk me anymore questions and or comment back and say you got my messege and tell me if your fish are doing good

  • @trucklover9 i read on the internet 1 gallon per frog. so thats what i did. my frogs r happy

  • what happen if i dont have a desk lamp?

  • Just let them melt somewhere else. DUH

  • yor smart when it comes to frogs

  • I love your fish tank! I am thinking about getting an african dwarf frog to put into my tetra tank. I also have a gar tank (I still need to put a vid of it up)

    Great vid, really helpful

  • im feeding my clawed frog ( bubbles ) crickets how much should i feed him a day

  • dude iv had my frog for 6 years and i forgot about him not literlally but u could see his ribs and hes still alive!!!! im sooo guilty now i am obssessed with him and i feed him pellets and he does come up to the top but will they all eat a worm i have only fed him pellets

  • what fish will go with the frog that are fresh water fish

  • Hey, just got myself two of these guys was wondering how much i should feed these guys in a week. The lady at the store said twice a day, but reading up on them i found this to be false, is every other day safer? And I'm using pebblets.

  • How long have you had the frog?

  • I have had the frog for maybe a year and a half to two years.

  • Do you use the whole pack of bloodworms for one feeding? I am not sure if I am overfeeding or underfeeding them.
