Dogs can be wonderful therapy for awkward, shy, anxious, or lonely people. The key is matching the right dog with the right person or family. Purebreds offer a wonderful opportunity for this because each breed exhibits specific characteristics. This border collie seems to be at the apex for its breed.

I have to admit i really hate how some people expose dogs or portray dogs. When kids or young families want a dog they look at dogs in the movies to find a super smart dog that can be "trained" in seconds.Like Golden Retrievers, Huskies, Beagles and Border Collies.. A lot of these dogs now have bad tremperaments or mostly found in the pound because of people seeing dogs in movies or tv shows and never think of what the dog actually needs. Always consider before getting a BC they are NOT easy.

@Jal1515 Well said. When I started reading your comment, I thought it would be about "exploiting" dogs in the sense that they are being forced to do things like in this video. But you make a great point. The kind of dogs that have high intelligence have very specific needs, and the border collie is at the top of that list. They not only need their mind training, they need constant exercise.

The border collie is the most abandoned pedigree dog in the Uk. Or it was up to a few years ago

@w0bbl3r sorry yeah, when i meant dogs being exposed, i meant on TV shows or commercials or movies.. the breeds i named are in some of the most famous/well known in kids movies; Air Bud, Snow Dogs, 8 Below, Shyloh, Cats vs. Dogs, the list can go on of movies and different dog breeds but those were on top of my head.. But i think the most popular breeds found in homes because of movies is Huskies and Goldens.. I have met people (mostly husky owners) saying "my dog is like the dog in (movie)!"

@Jal1515 Dont forget dalmations. Notoriously difficult to train, not nice to have as house pets, and not good to have with children. I am of course talking in general, some people will find their dalmations are great with kids and train very easily, but in general they are, quoting skip sudduth in 3rd watch, the "dumbest dogs on earth".

I think in the Uk now, bull terriers are the most abandoned, because people who are brain dead get these dogs thinking they look tough, then dump them

@BabyNotGoth most people want a dog like Gin, but few are willing to spend the time with the dog to get it to do these things... there are a lot of dogs out there that were "cute" as puppies who's owners didn't do anything with and end up homeless, in shelters *(a lot of kill shelters) abused, neglected.

The dog is great and the act is great. However the dog is a Collie and if you check other You Tube videos, Collies do this kind of thing often. Check out the Agility Competitions they do. I love Collies they are so intelligent and super agile.
