This is the best piece of television that was ever broadcast! I first saw this TV play in 1991 on a programme called TV Heaven which showed programmes from years ago. This is the most faultless and brilliant thing ever to be broadcast. Vivien Merchant and Alan Badel just made it so wonderful to watch. I just wish I had the complete version, Boo Hoo! :-(

Why should there be a catch or a punchline when you have a short extract from a complete play ? In the play the appearance of the man is itself a punchline because the "lover" you see at the door is really the husband, dressed differently. It's an erotic game the couple play. So that's the catch. But you need to know the play to know that.
