  • Thank you for posting this. Always wanted to watch Serling's original teleplays. Amazing that this was live television produced at this level back in 1954. I have to say that first cake spread commercial from Kraft was revolting and hilarious as well.

  • I really like when it goes to commerical break that they only have one commerical.

How refreshing as today we are bombarded by ads.

  • This is a recording of the re-run. Apparently the original broadcast wasn't recorded. I've always wondered how they compared, but can't find any comments on that. Amazing isn't it how well they did without being able to do take-2, take-3, and edit. How they moved the massive cameras of the day, lighting, mics, etc. without it showing is as amazing as the real-time directing.

  • @malamagr You can go to the very end by clicking on this time > 57:35 and hear the announcement for the next play on January 19.. Therefore this is the first broadcast on Jan 12. I believe all of these were kinescoped in order to show them on the west coast 3 hrs later.

  • @MrCallipygous at 57:47 it shows what that's referring to -- a different drama, "The Written Word." The Kraft Television Theatre was a regular show of which Patterns was just one installment. Patterns was re-broadcast by live performance on Feb. 9, and that one was recorded. Why would they have re-acted it if it had been recorded? Sure kinescope sux but not so badly they'd have gone to all that trouble & expense if they'd had a film of it to re-air to an audience already eager to see it.

  • @malamagr The second broadcast was February 9, 1955. The announcements here are for January 1955. This is the first broadcast unless someone edited parts of the kines together.

  • @MrCallipygous but really, thank you very much for posting this. I've been wanting to see the complete 2nd original :) for a long time... it's really amazing

  • I didn't intend to watch a one hour show on a six inch inset on my computer screen, but I couldn't turn away. Riveting from the first minute to the end.

  • Thank you for uploading this. This is awesome.

  • Dude, MASSIVE props for uploading this. I watched this last year in class and it's fantastic stuff.
