I bought a Dreamcast this past week. I found a new controller for it for just $9 on Amazon. I'm amazed at how cheap all the accessories and games are.

I love the console. It's possibly my favorite, but definitely my favorite from Sega. I'm definitely going to check this out! I freaking loved Blood!

@toker606 Unfortunately, he's not. We're using voice samples modified into new phrases, but it's most likely that we'll hire outside talent to impersonate the voice. Would've been great to get him though.

this looks really great. Looks like itll really capture the oldstyle doom/quake gameplay. Very interesting weapons int here too. Will definitely be keeping my eye on this.

The engine we're building can support most of the things that Quake did. We can replicate most of those 3d effects easily, and with the core engine being 2D, we can keep some sort of compatibility with Blood's 2d sprites,maps, etc, instead of developing this with a true 3d engine and risk not having the original 2D feel right.

Why? Most of it's exclusives got ported to other consoles, the home brew community is all but dead, and there haven't been any big breakthrough in emulation on it at all in the past few years. It's a dead console and it's not coming back, deal with it.

There are videos on Dreamcast emulators. Go with Nulldc, it plays games the best.

Initially we did remove it, but we found if we just re-sprited it to fit Blood's theme it would work (this is why the animations are messed up, due to new sprite/coding errors). Right now it showcases the game's upgrade system, where you can actually modify the regular tommy gun to use that instead.

Can you work with the actual MAP files from Blood?

Not directly - we convert them with a program that takes the original MAP file, converts it to Duke's Build format, and then converts it to WAD. By that time it's probably more work getting the level fixed rather than just doing it from scratch, but we can definitely do it, just takes a whole bunch of processing. Sometimes it's not worth it.

If anyone was wondering all of the levels featured in this trailer are levels we created ourselves.

This is true - but this isn't an exact replica of Blood either - more like a reimagining. It leaves us a lot of room for originality on top of Blood. =)
