By coincidence I came across this soap opera. I know I have missed many episodes, but from the ones I have seen remind faintly when I eventually came out of the closet. My mother supported 100% although it took a while to accept the man who was in with. Unfortunately, my father didn't accept the fact that I am gay and still doesn't. At least, he has not beaten up my bf.....Thank you for downloading these series, both of us enjoy it considerably
LOL, I love Ludo in the aspect that everybody tries to blackmail him and he wont allow it to happen...just when they think they got him by the short and curlies he flips it around on them and they are left with a what- the -hell- just-happened face.
Ludo is "father" of Lucas. Anton is the father of Edwin.
Frankly, i feel both sides are at extreme ends. Anton was indeed overboard and deserved to be punished. but having the entire family against him was a big punishment by itself, moreover he already turned himself in.
Although Lucas was wrongly beaten up, and he hates Anton right now, he should still realise that Anton is still Edwin's father.
well i guess the writers purposely wrote the story so extreme otherwise we won't watch it ;)
I think they are, in a way both justified, ludo (that is name right?) is Edwin's father, of course he's going to have some loyalty to him left, it's not easy to admit that someone you love did something terrible, to someone else you love. But at the same time Lucas was attacked by Ludo, he can't just be expected forget and forgive.
Edwin is so trying to make Lucas understand the way it all happened but lucas is really not listening to his Edwin and as for his mom good to be unconditional but she needs to let the boys sort it out and as for Bianca I hope she doesn't resort to pressure lucas' dad anymore furtehr buty i think lucas' dad is a real understanding guy and he will no doubt be chatting to lucas and edwin about the situation and i hope soon but Janine needs to keep out of it for now and let the boys sort it out.

seriously i so hate lucas and i hate the fact that they re together, edwin deserve a much better guy than lucas. Somehow i think lucas is really fake, arrogant, spoiled, it appears to me that no matter what ppl may think, or get affected ,if he want something and he has to get it.

I think you got it wrong and Lucas actually deserves better than Edwin, but hey you can't choose who you fall in love with and let near your heart!
it's incredible how Bianca is ready to condone a criminal act just to keep her family from falling apart, or maybe beacause she really loves her husband, however, I think that he shouldn't be excused so easily, and time doensn't always help sort things out

Am I the only one that thinks that Janine is getting quite annoying interfering all the time? I'm not saying she's wrong and I get that she's Lucas's mother and all but she's starting to get on my nerves!
Am I the only one hoping Maxime goes straight to Nina to spill the beans? I mean I know she won't cause Ludo being responsible for Noud's accident is good leverage for her to have against Ludo and she won't be giving it up that easily but still one can dream.
Bianca dear I love you most of the time but neither you or anton is any match for Ludo.
On another note I feel bad for Sjoerd nobody is asking him how feels about this whole mess he's kind of gotten lost in the backround.
Bianca and Anton have bothe tried blackmailing Ludo into doing what they wanted. If I was Ludo, I would be questioning their friendship. Anton, as Ludo stated in an earlier episode, is equally at risk should the truth come out.
And I really do believe it was foul for Anton or Bianca to use it against Ludo. Because they both promised to keep it secret. Its more to me that their the one that see as friendship as something you can use as leverage towards other people to make them do things you can't do so you ask them to do it for you. I understand she wants Edwin home at what expense another family broken up with no assurance that her family will be whole again. Bianca is losing objective she is becoming desperate!
I get where Lucas is coming from, its different when you're the 1 getting beat up. But its good that their fighting speaking what's on their mind to each other that way they understand and learn more about each other. As for Janine, I don't think that she was pressuring Edwin nor Bianca because it was her son that got beat up but because she sees that Anton needs help, that Edwin is scared of what his father is, and that Bianca should acknowledge that there is a problem!
Further, Edwin was right to say that it should have been his father there not his mother but because Bianca knows Anton and that what's really scares Edwin that his father would never accept him being gay. What if Anton ends up beating his own son will that be the day Bianca realizes his husband needs help. I believe Edwin is not pressured to stay at Lucas but he's conflicted about his father's behavior.
There goes the image of the unbiased Bianca...So that's how its going to be...now I understand how she can be in love with Anton...their exactly the same I mean they both tried to use the secret against Ludo. I believe Bianca and Anton kept the secret because as much as it would damage Ludo's relationship with Nina it would be more damaging to Anton's practice. There was no intent on Ludo to hit Noud but there was intent on ANton's part to keep it secret and go along with Ludo.
I am getting bad vibes about the staying together power of Ludwin.Oh well,We, who are long time soap viewers, can see what is coming. A soap writer for aged soaps(the Edge of Night, Secret Storm) once said the alpha and omega of a story line ,covering a period of weeks or months, was clearly defined. The reason given, actor contracts and budget. Soaps usually do not have tidy story endings,thank goodness.
Even after she blurted out the truth to Maxine, I still feel sorry for Bianca. All she wants is to have her son home. I commend her for forcing Anton to go to the police. As a mother, Janine should understand why Bianca wants her son home too. I think Janine was a little too hard on Bianca, who time after time, has tried to make peae and do the right thing to keep her family together.
i'm glad lucas finally found love been quite a few hit and misses for him i mean he comes to town and does the whole one night stand thing because i think he was afraid of love/commitment then he is attracted to his male nurse who he ends up dating and it turns out the guy Marco is a killer and in the midst of that Lucas falls in love with noud his best friend and that goes sour and then he meets Edwin who he is now in a relationship with after a bunch of crap happened and is still happening.
I think the writers have done a good job of complicating this issue for Edwin and the viewers. Human relationships are rarely black and white and even clear moral issues have subtle human responses. I am pleased with the way they are portraying the conflicting impulses of the characters.
@manicbash I want that too maybe the writers can do that Edwin singing Lucas a song to sleep I mean he sand to Wiet... its only fair and justified he sings a song to Lucas... I mean rikki sang to Sjoerd that's why he's into Rikki isn't it!
Let Edwin make his own desicions about his father. if his father continues to be an arse then cut the ties. Then we get the two boys at each other and guess where that led to. love conquers all
It's totally understandable that Janine and Lucas are mad at Anton. I think that for Edwin it's also har cause this is the first time that he is seeing his father in a different light. uptill now he thought that his father was a good man which am sure he is, he still see his father upto some stand as a good man. Bianca has to know that Edwins coming home alone won't solve anything. It will only be hard for Edwin to know that his father will rather ignore him than accept his sexuality.
nice to see others not fully taking lucas's and janine's thinking about anton....but willing to consider the effect it all is having on both edwin and anton.....but of them are "flawed" characters in a way...but still father and son....so lucas and janine need to stay out of it...especially janine...and let edwin, his father, and their family work thru all this

IMO, this puts Lucas and Janine squarely in the middle of the whole mess. Would your mother not take your side in a situation such as this? Bianca and Edwin may not want to believe that Anton is a beast, but; if he behaves as a beast, he IS a beast. And until Anton seeks professional help, I believe, he will remain a beast.
@tomswift100 I believe Anton is a good man but if ignoring that his son is gay so that his son can come home then I don't think that's being a father at all. I mean yes, parents are allowed to have aspirations for their children but its still their kids life and theirs to decide on. What a parent can do is stand in the sideline and watch them make the mistakes and be there no matter what. Parents are supposed to be their kids' source of unconditional love you can't mold them only guide them.
I don't like the way Janine & Boanca are snarling at each other! The two mama lions should be working together to protect their cubs. I did like how Edwin stood up to J it shows he's gaining more backbone. He's Ina tough spot and the moms need to stop snarling at each other and be supportive of them so that healing between them can occur

Big age difference between Ludwin and Chrolli when each couple fell in love... C and O were mature and living on their own....Ludwin still in school and living at home...can't see this 'young love' building much of a future until each guy builds a life of his very own outside of dominating partents and Edwin gets on with college...

I disagree. Christian/Thore has much more chemistry with girls. I will never buy that he's in love with Olli. IMO every other gay couple including Aarson is more convincing than Chrolli.

@82rotkaeppchen Come on, that must be a joke, Danny and Marc have zero chemistry, both are good actors but they need a lot of work to make their relationship believable. Chrolli relaitionship worked perfectly at least at the begining, and the actors had good chemistry (right now i don't know because that show was really boring lately and i stopped watching long time ago)
@Kellytomcat I like Chrolli but lately haven't been following their story the last time I watched they got married... I do hope Ludwin stands time I mean they get trials but evolve like Chrolli... I don't see why Bianca is so desperate to have Edwin back at the house. She knows that Anton is not budging on his position & can get violent in the blink of an eye. A cool off period is a good idea and it's not like Edwin is estranged from her, she can visit and talk to him any time. Also, Wouldn't Anton be in legal trouble for Noud's accident too? He covered it up and lied to the police. Seems to me that Anton could be in more trouble if the truth about the cover up comes out.
I'm so loving Jannie for standing up for Lucas and what's right. It was her place to interfere. It's her house and she's protecting her borders. Bianca is completely blinded by love to a dangerous and bigoted idiot. She can no longer protect her son.

I read many bad comments about Edwin..I just feel bad if a few people just look how Lucas get injured and feels mad about that but ignore how Edwin's feels about this situation. I'm really glad Lucas can see how this situation really hard for Ed and knew it's hurting him so much.

Edwin more getting hurt than anyone. indeed he wasn't physically injured like Lucas but it's really hurting for him. See his boyfriend get injured by his father, be apart with his family (be enemy with his father, makes your mom sad and can't talk with your brother, out of his house). I think it's like you don't have family again and felt lonely even though you have a sweetest boyfriend in the world.
The last scene is really sweet it's show how much they're love each other.STAY STRONG LUDWIN!!
Lucas and edwin make a gr8 couple . they are so in love , no matter if Anton punches Lucas all the times he wants .. it won't change the fact edwin is deeply in love with LUcas. I hope Bianca can figure out all this situation.
Mark's the BESTEST! What a mess Bianca is unwittingly going to cause. It's clear Edwin and Lucas love each other despite Edwin's feeling conflicted. His family ties run very deep. The scene at the church square seems to establish that what he feels for Lucas is genuine and essential. Booze and Bianca, probably not a good combination at this very stressful moment in her life. I can't decipher Ludo. He seems likely to do the decent thing if not accosted and if allowed the opportunity.

Edwin don't want his father more blamed Lucas and think he's tho one responsible be change his son.(We know how denial Anton.he couldn't accept his son being gay, although he could see how Edwin happy with Lucas). I think it's not selfish if you want your family and your boyfriend can be happy together.

What are the writers attempting with this episode? I get that Bianca - (like any mother) - would want here son back and her family reunited but, are the writers saying the people don't get the volatility of this situation. Anton is in escallation mode! He could have a fight with Edwin too. Anton is the only one who needs to change and that in no way involvs Edwin. Jannine is wrong too - her involment is with Anton and her son, not Edwin and Bianca. Ed, the nuances don't matter!
i really don't think this dinner was a whole setup to beat him up like lucas is saying it is
but at the same time Edwin is also sugar coating it abit because i think it hard to think badly of your parents or hear others do it so i can see why he is acting that way

can really understand Edwin here, I too have that personality trait where you try to understand and explain what people you love has done to other people you love, and everyone gets pissed at you.

And I too remember references (made by Anton to Sjoerd, as I recall) about his hoping things "would have changed" with their move to Meerdijk. Uh oh, after weeks of conniving and pressing people for info, Maxime finally knows the truth. I'm sure Ludo's life will be just peachy for the next few weeks. ;)
And I think Anton does need professional help. After all, even if everyone forgives him and moves on from this beating, that doesn't mean it won't happen again. However, I do sympathize with Edwin, being caught in the middle. He doesn't want to see his father put away, even if he deserves it, just because it's his dad.
This is a complicated situation - a bit like the real world. We like Bianca - but we've glimpsed her desperation. As someone points out here: all that wine she's been drinking. And here, in pain, she says crazy things; and has to be corrected by Janine. Edwin has the same problem as Bianca: Anton has stepped over a line and seems to be someone they cannot love any more... However, Edwin has Lucas. I hope the writers allow them to find their way through all of this to a special strength together.
@jarabaa Great observation. It's extremely painful and disorienting to suffer a broken heart as a result of the actions of someone whom you've loved unconditionally. Bianca and Edwin have their hearts in pieces because of Anton's savagery. Edwin's pain is compounded. He has a heart broken because of his father's actions and a "broken" boyfriend. I'm sure he feels extremely conflicted. How can he possibly still love a man who has brutalized the person who has liberated him? But he does.
Janine usually is the perfect mother IMO, but today, not so much. I wanted to put duct tape over her mouth when she kept going at Ed. Bianca was petty, but she's just a wreck now. Mostly I felt bad for Edwin. Its still his father. Yeah I'm sure he's thinking all sorts of terrible thoughts 'bout Anton, but no matter how true, its hard to hear people rip into the people you love. And he didn't excuse his father, he just said that is wasn't premeditated. Which I agree with, actually.
Yes the boys shouldn't have been fooling around in the practice. But Anton would have snapped and beaten Lucas sooner or later, that rage has been building for quite some time. I'm really ashamed of Bianca, she's so desperate to have her family living a lie. That she blabs about Ludo out of spite, she's as petty as Anton. Someone should tell Edwin about Lucas's first gay bashing and all the problems his family faced when Dex didn't come forward right away. Anton needs to get help, not get off.

I've just watched a video which is wonderful loving response to Anton by a father who knows his son is gay because he loves him. I guess im not allowed to post the youtube link here but It's from an American tv series. if you jus look up for Griffin part 12, the series is called The Secret Life of American Teenagers. I was really touched watching it, especially after the shock that Anton's vicious attack on Lucas gave me. Thanks, Mark
I can see where both Lucas and Edwin are coming from. To Edwin, yes his dad did a horrible thing, but he still loves his father and he doesn't think he necessarily meant to beat Lucas up. For Lucas, he's tried so hard to make it work with Anton, but every time Anton seems to show his true colors. I think they just need to sit down and talk it out. I really liked the Ludwin scene at the end; they didn't even have to speak, they just hugged it out.
@TheGleeKMonster What can Edwin think his father meant to do regarding Lucas? He obviously meant for his fist to make contact with Lucas' body as he succeeded in doing so numerous times--those weren't accidental collisions. Edwin can't argue that his father meant to "bitchslap" Lucas as he used a fist and not an open hand. He could argue that his father meant to use less force when he pummeled Lucas' face and just lost awareness of his own strength upon becoming so angry. Pointless argument.

Edwin is conflicted and guilt-ridden because he's willing to entertain the thought that his father might not have meant to beat Lucas up. This thought is creating a great deal of problems for Edwin. It allows him to love his father still and to see him as something other than a brute but it probably makes him feel like he's betraying Lucas and, therefore, his feelings for him. Not a good place to be.
@TheGleeKMonster Edwin, you're right, is placing a great deal of weight on whether his father's actions were premeditated. But again that will force him to choose between Anton and Lucas. If Edwin were to believe it premeditated, he'd favor Lucas and not his father. If he chooses to believe that his father's actions were not premeditated, then provocation comes into the picture. And then he (and Lucas) must share some responsibility for what occurred. If Lucas is not blameless, then what?

ok Bianca totally ratted out Ludo to Maxime in her fit of anger. I hope for her sake that this doesn't explode in her face.This is going to make Anton a bigger monster and Ludo a monster again. I would like to see these two families work out of it.

I think Janine was in all of her right concerning what she said to Bianca and Edwin, she was very spot on in this episode, the voice of reason I'd say. And seriously Edwin? I don't think there was premeditation per se but it looked like he was downplaying the atrocious act he committed. Anton was the sole one at fault here, Edwin you're justifying his action to a point when you say he was provoked, it's ludicrous! you don't beat up someone because of what happened, not in a civilized society.
Ludo set himself up for eventual blackmail when he asked Anton to hide the fact that Ludo was involved in Noud's accident. Ludo should have just admitted it from the beginning - Anton could have attested to the fact that it was an ACCIDENT, not a deliberate attempt to injure or kill Noud.
I can't stand Maxime - she is just a vulture always looking for blood.

First time (i think) Edwin meets Jack is was when Sjoerd hit Lucas, when that man gets killed and now his dad hits L....they really need to stop meeting like this! Ending was so sweet! Love it!

I certainly don't want Edwin or Bianca to defend Anton's actions and I don't think any explanation makes him "forgivable". I think Jack is trying to get "facts" not "impressions" or "interpretations" AND he asks for statements from both Lucas AND Edwin.
I love Lucas but I was blown away (mad at Lucas) when he started explaining he thinks Anton's actions were planned (4:17, 4:26)...

Like others have stated, I think Edwin wasn't defending his father's actions but rather trying to explain the action was NOT premeditated and -- as Jack point's out -- this has legal implications (unfortunately making most sentences insignificant compared to what they should be, IMO.). Again, I don't think any explanation makes any violence "forgivable".
Janine needs to take a chill pill. She is so pushy, even jack knows it. I know it is her son who has been beat up but common. Poor Bianca, she just wants her son back. That was an intensely disturbing performance by Edwin, influenced by his conversation with Nina. I'm sorry but blood is not thicker than love. Anton rejects his son's behavior which is in fact the whole of the son. Anton is unworthy of forgiveness. He should be handcuffed and hauled off to jail.
Despite Edwin's misguided behavior, Lucas still loves him. It was a beautiful and powerful makeup scene, a simple kiss!

By coincidence I came across this soap opera. I know I have missed many episodes, but from the ones I have seen remind faintly when I eventually came out of the closet. My mother supported 100% although it took a while to accept the man who was in with. Unfortunately, my father didn't accept the fact that I am gay and still doesn't. Ludo is "father" of Lucas. Anton is the father of Edwin.
Frankly, i feel both sides are at extreme ends. Anton was indeed overboard and deserved to be punished. but having the entire family against him was a big punishment by itself, moreover he already turned himself in.
Although Lucas was wrongly beaten up, and he hates Anton right now, he should still realise that Anton is still Edwin's father.

I think they are, in a way both justified, ludo (that is name right?) is Edwin's father, of course he's going to have some loyalty to him left, it's not easy to admit that someone you love did something terrible, to someone else you love. But at the same time Lucas was attacked by Ludo, he can't just be expected forget and forgive.

I am getting bad vibes about the staying together power of Ludwin.Oh well,We, who are long time soap viewers, can see what is coming. A soap writer for aged soaps(the Edge of Night, Secret Storm) once said the alpha and omega of a story line ,covering a period of weeks or months, was clearly defined. The reason given, actor contracts and budget. Soaps usually do not have tidy story endings,thank goodness.

Even after she blurted out the truth to Maxine, I still feel sorry for Bianca. All she wants is to have her son home. I commend her for forcing Anton to go to the police. As a mother, Janine should understand why Bianca wants her son home too. I think Janine was a little too hard on Bianca, who time after time, has tried to make peae and do the right thing to keep her family together.
I do agree that Anton needs serious therapy.

i'm glad lucas finally found love been quite a few hit and misses for him i mean he comes to town and does the whole one night stand thing because i think he was afraid of love/commitment then he is attracted to his male nurse who he ends up dating and it turns out the guy Marco is a killer and in the midst of that Lucas falls in love with noud his best friend and that goes sour and then he meets Edwin who he is now in a relationship with after a bunch of crap happened and is still happening.

I think the writers have done a good job of complicating this issue for Edwin and the viewers. Human relationships are rarely black and white and even clear moral issues have subtle human responses. I am pleased with the way they are portraying the conflicting impulses of the characters.

It's totally understandable that Janine and Lucas are mad at Anton. I think that for Edwin it's also har cause this is the first time that he is seeing his father in a different light. uptill now he thought that his father was a good man which am sure he is, he still see his father upto some stand as a good man. I don't see why Bianca is so desperate to have Edwin back at the house. She knows that Anton is not budging on his position & can get violent in the blink of an eye. A cool off period is a good idea and it's not like Edwin is estranged from her, she can visit and talk to him any time. Also, Wouldn't Anton be in legal trouble for Noud's accident too? He covered it up and lied to the police. Seems to me that Anton could be in more trouble if the truth about the cover up comes out.

Edwin more getting hurt than anyone. indeed he wasn't physically injured like Lucas but it's really hurting for him. See his boyfriend get injured by his father, be apart with his family (be enemy with his father, makes your mom sad and can't talk with your brother, out of his house). I think it's like you don't have family again and felt lonely even though you have a sweetest boyfriend in the world.
The last scene is really sweet it's show how much they're love each other.STAY STRONG LUDWIN!!

Mark's the BESTEST! What a mess Bianca is unwittingly going to cause. It's clear Edwin and Lucas love each other despite Edwin's feeling conflicted. His family ties run very deep. The scene at the church square seems to establish that what he feels for Lucas is genuine and essential. Booze and Bianca, probably not a good combination at this very stressful moment in her life. I can't decipher Ludo. He seems likely to do the decent thing if not accosted and if allowed the opportunity.

1. what Anton did is absolutely unforgivable but sent his father into jail is different things for Edwin.He's absolutely very angry to his father but you can't easily hates your father and send him to jail.I think Edwin just don't want everything getting worse. if he sends his father to jail maybe it will actually destroy the family. Sjoerd will hate him, his mother will be more sad and somehow Edwin certainly loved his father. We know Edwin is good son.

What are the writers attempting with this episode? I get that Bianca - (like any mother) - would want here son back and her family reunited but, are the writers saying the people don't get the volatility of this situation. Anton is in escallation mode! He could have a fight with Edwin too. Anton is the only one who needs to change and that in no way involvs Edwin. Jannine is wrong too - her involment is with Anton and her son, not Edwin and Bianca. Ed, the nuances don't matter!

And I too remember references (made by Anton to Sjoerd, as I recall) about his hoping things "would have changed" with their move to Meerdijk. I've been thinking for awhile that Anton has skeletons in his own closet. I'm sure the writers have something good up their sleeves. Time will tell. Thanks as always Mark.

Uh oh, after weeks of conniving and pressing people for info, Maxime finally knows the truth. I'm sure Ludo's life will be just peachy for the next few weeks. ;)
And I think Anton does need professional help. After all, even if everyone forgives him and moves on from this beating, that doesn't mean it won't happen again. However, I do sympathize with Edwin, being caught in the middle. He doesn't want to see his father put away, even if he deserves it, just because it's his dad.

This is a complicated situation - a bit like the real world. We like Bianca - but we've glimpsed her desperation. As someone points out here: all that wine she's been drinking. And here, in pain, she says crazy things; and has to be corrected by Janine. Edwin has the same problem as Bianca: Anton has stepped over a line and seems to be someone they cannot love any more... However, Edwin has Lucas. I hope the writers allow them to find their way through all of this to a special strength together.

@jarabaa Great observation. It's extremely painful and disorienting to suffer a broken heart as a result of the actions of someone whom you've loved unconditionally. Bianca and Edwin have their hearts in pieces because of Anton's savagery. Edwin's pain is compounded. He has a heart broken because of his father's actions and a "broken" boyfriend. I'm sure he feels extremely conflicted. How can he possibly still love a man who has brutalized the person who has liberated him? But he does.

Janine usually is the perfect mother IMO, but today, not so much. I wanted to put duct tape over her mouth when she kept going at Ed. Bianca was petty, but she's just a wreck now. Mostly I felt bad for Edwin. Its still his father. Yeah I'm sure he's thinking all sorts of terrible thoughts 'bout Anton, but no matter how true, its hard to hear people rip into the people you love. And he didn't excuse his father, he just said that is wasn't premeditated. Which I agree with, actually.

Yes the boys shouldn't have been fooling around in the practice. But Anton would have snapped and beaten Lucas sooner or later, that rage has been building for quite some time. I'm really ashamed of Bianca, she's so desperate to have her family living a lie. That she blabs about Ludo out of spite, she's as petty as Anton. Someone should tell Edwin about Lucas's first gay bashing and all the problems his family faced when Dex didn't come forward right away. Anton needs to get help, not get off.

I've just watched a video which is wonderful loving response to Anton by a father who knows his son is gay because he loves him. I guess im not allowed to post the youtube link here but It's from an American tv series. if you jus look up for Griffin part 12, the series is called The Secret Life of American Teenagers. I was really touched watching it, especially after the shock that Anton's vicious attack on Lucas gave me. Thanks, Mark

I can see where both Lucas and Edwin are coming from. To Edwin, yes his dad did a horrible thing, but he still loves his father and he doesn't think he necessarily meant to beat Lucas up. For Lucas, he's tried so hard to make it work with Anton, but every time Anton seems to show his true colors. I think they just need to sit down and talk it out. I really liked the Ludwin scene at the end; they didn't even have to speak, they just hugged it out.

He obviously meant for his fist to make contact with Lucas' body as he succeeded in doing so numerous times--those weren't accidental collisions. Edwin can't argue that his father meant to "bitchslap" Lucas as he used a fist and not an open hand. He could argue that his father meant to use less force when he pummeled Lucas' face and just lost awareness of his own strength upon becoming so angry. Pointless argument.

Edwin is conflicted and guilt-ridden because he's willing to entertain the thought that his father might not have meant to beat Lucas up. This thought is creating a great deal of problems for Edwin. It allows him to love his father still and to see him as something other than a brute but it probably makes him feel like he's betraying Lucas and, therefore, his feelings for him. Not a good place to be.

If Edwin were to believe it premeditated, he'd favor Lucas and not his father. If he chooses to believe that his father's actions were not premeditated, then provocation comes into the picture. And then he (and Lucas) must share some responsibility for what occurred. If Lucas is not blameless, then what?

I think Janine was in all of her right concerning what she said to Bianca and Edwin, she was very spot on in this episode, the voice of reason I'd say. And seriously Edwin? I don't think there was premeditation per se but it looked like he was downplaying the atrocious act he committed. Anton was the sole one at fault here, Edwin you're justifying his action to a point when you say he was provoked, it's ludicrous! you don't beat up someone because of what happened, not in a civilized society.

Ludo set himself up for eventual blackmail when he asked Anton to hide the fact that Ludo was involved in Noud's accident. Ludo should have just admitted it from the beginning - Anton could have attested to the fact that it was an ACCIDENT, not a deliberate attempt to injure or kill Noud.
I can't stand Maxime - she is just a vulture always looking for blood.

I certainly don't want Edwin or Bianca to defend Anton's actions and I don't think any explanation makes him "forgivable". I think Jack is trying to get "facts" not "impressions" or "interpretations" AND he asks for statements from both Lucas AND Edwin.
I love Lucas but I was blown away (mad at Lucas) when he started explaining he thinks Anton's actions were planned (4:17, 4:26)...

Like others have stated, I think Edwin wasn't defending his father's actions but rather trying to explain the action was NOT premeditated and -- as Jack point's out -- this has legal implications (unfortunately making most sentences insignificant compared to what they should be, IMO.). Again, I don't think any explanation makes any violence "forgivable".

Both women are very strong but Bianca, a truly good, decent person, is overwhelmed at the possibility of losing both her son and her husband. That was an intensely disturbing performance by Edwin, influenced by his conversation with Nina. I'm sorry but blood is not thicker than love. Anton rejects his son's behavior which is in fact the whole of the son. Anton is unworthy of forgiveness. He should be handcuffed and hauled off to jail.
Despite Edwin's misguided behavior, Lucas still loves him. It was a beautiful and powerful makeup scene, a simple kiss!
