Hope for in the season 4 they share a relationship because in the book (Dead to the world) they do it. SPOILER: Eric is amnesic and has forgotten everything. Dark witches are responsable of that. The main plot is the battle against these. Anyway, since in season 3 they changed lots of things (like discovering the fairy past of Sookie, a main element in book 8) I don't know exactly how this affect the original storyline of the books.
