My name is James and I'm 15. Your covers are really awesome, I admire people who devote time to this, I love this music. Antoine Dufour, Don Ross, Andy McKee ... finery. I play guitar for 1 year, I am self-taught, but I play very well. From Antoine I just learned These Moments, the first song from him, what I can play. PLEASE can you do tutorial how to play TO RUN IN A DREAM, I'd be very grateful to you, it's my favorite song and I would love to teach it. Keep playing! Thank you :-)
Awesome cover, if anything i'd say try and relax more, you're very tense and it's notable how smooth and relaxed antoine plays in his videos, so i guess practice the fluidity of the songs as well as the sounds :)
sounds very nice. i just downloaded the tabs from candyrats and this song will be my next project ;-) ain't no easy thing those dufour songs. unfortunately my nails are a little short yet.. and i am quite sure i am going to break them again with this song :D
Thank you sir! I don't remember how long this one took me. I wanna say just about 2 weeks. That last half of the song is very intricate so that took the longest. Thanks again!
I watched this right after I watched Antoine play it. This seems pretty much spot on. I really think the only difference was the recording quality the tone of the guitar used.
good untill 3:20 and onward ..you should take some more time for the last minute of the song.I like your personal touch, a little more agressive than dufour.
I know I butchered the coolest part of the song. I've cleaned it up a lot since then. I only knew this one for about a week or so when I recorded this. Thanks for the comment!
haha your right hand made the notes so loud that it was reallllly hard to hear the harmonics. thats ok though cause im pretty sure antoine's guitar has superb harmonic response
Actually, the song was still fresh in my head at the time I recorded this and couldn't pluck those harmonics as fast and accurately as I needed to. I had only been playing it about a week when I recorded this.
the first part is really overpowered by the thumb percussion. try relaxing your hands a bit. Antoine's hands don't seem nearly as quick. This a great though.
you are awesome, you sound like a drunk antoine ..... this is a monster of a song to learn. Dont take my drunk antoine comment as disrespect, lets face it there is no player out there at the moment that plays as flawlesly as antoine. This is beyond me in terms of playing, big ass respect to you my freind you can play like a motherfucker. SUPER SUPER SUPERB cover.
this is really cool.. i would advise playing it with an amp or a pickup though, it sounds kinda quiet/flat... if it already has one, then never mind, still sounds awesome
im learning this song myself at the moment and have most of the parts down. I'm still only confused about the first part of the chorus (1.28- 1.31 in ur video). Im not sure what you're doing. I have the tabs here in front of me, but they dont seem to correspond adequately with what is being played. I know you do a double finger hammer-on on the 9th and 10th fret. unsure with whts happening with ur other hand.
Thank you! Which bars are you having trouble with? Look at the little red number on the tab above each bar. The tab is accurate. I noticed bar 27 has what I THINK MIGHT be a mistake. I think the 5th 8th note is supposed to be a downstroke with the middle finger. That's how I play it.
@Mordecai36 you're using Guitar pro, right? so my query begins at Bar 25. On his youtube video it appears, and sounds like hes slapping the strings while muting them However, there seems to be no mute at all on the tab. have a look and compare the two - ull see several differences which dont make sense. But you seem to have gotten it down just right without an issue.
@anasimovic Yeah GP. The tab has the palm muting on it and it's accurate with what I play. The sixth 8th note of every bar in that riff is a pull off with your left hand. Since you just slapped string 6 with your thumb half a beat before that, when you pull off both string 5 and 6, only open 5 is sounded because your thumb is still on 6, making it a ghost note.
good job sir. im going to attempt to learn this by ear. however, im not good with figuring out tunings for songs, so could u help me out and give me the tuning?
Wow, awesome cover. Obviously not as good as Antoine, but this song is really hard to learn and play. I've been trying to learn it, it's going very slow. Nice job, 5 stars.
Thanks! This recording is okay, I got fed up with it after multiple takes so when I recorded this one I said the hell with it! I can do much, much better, but oh well. I might re-record again one day.
@Mordecai36 yeah its stilll awsome! =) i'll tell you my mittle secret to getting songs down..... play song until you actually hate to hear it again that day then record it i find when you start getting bored of playing it its actually 1cause you cant play it (which you can so this dosent apply to you) or 2 that your actually getting it right and its not as fun cause your not learning anymore just give it time you will get it tight
Wow...this is amaizing! Antoine's pieces are so complex and hard to learn. You are highly respected for taking on this composition. I hope to learn it soon as well.
Thank you! I've studied Antoine's music intensely for about the past two years. This song wasn't as hard as I thought it was, however the entire second half of the song is very difficult. Thanks again!
Thank you sir! Yeah, definitely the most difficult song I've learned. This one took a lot out of me! I can only imagine the trouble Antoine had while trying to compose this one! Thanks for watching and for the comment, much appreciated!
@Cornbreadddd tapping the string at certain points like that is a natural harmonic, an artificial one is created by applying the edge of your thumb with your pick hand. What I do find hard to pull off is doing those natural harmonics without actually tapping it, while both this guy and antoine do it without any real pressure, and it still rings out really well. The string must stick to their finger or something.

i tip my hat to you sir. that was truly amazing for such an accurate cover... im envious, but atfer seeing someone else play this song will help to lean it a little better.
Wow, I really did not know what to expect knowing the difficulty of this one by Antoine. I must say you really killed it man, nice job! Even his little hand stocatto and the end, lol. You really nailed it on the last few strokes. Nice job!
Hey thanks a lot I appreciate the comment. Yeah no doubt this song is insanely difficult. I only knew the last half of the song for a few days when I recorded this cuz I just couldn't wait to post it here, haha. I'll continue to work on it and hopefully I can nail all those harmonics in the end, because I know they're a very important part of the riff. Thanks again!
Wow ,your playing is just amazing ! How did you start playing guitar ? Did you have a teacher?!
I can't believe that you are that good! Antoine studied guitar for many years and playing his own pieces isn't as hard as cover one from people like Antoine ! Unbelievable!!
Hey thanks a lot that means a lot to me! I started playing guitar when my dad gave me his old acoustic back about 12-13 years ago. I've never taken any lessons and always just played by myself. I still don't have the ingenuity Antoine has when it comes to composing. Hopefully one day I will.
I can't believe that you never had a teacher !! I've seen many people thinking they could get that far without any teacher and ... they didn't get very far...! I think it depends on the discipline and the will!! I wish there were more guitar players like you are ;) And composing pieces like Antoine does is really hard! But I'm sure that you will be able to write such amazing music ,too one day !!
Yes! You nailed it! This song is so hard, I'm really impressed that your cover sounds nearly identical to Antoine's (his harmonics come out louder, but I imagine having long nails helps with that). I have to hurry up and buy this tab set! I'll look at your video for reference ;)
Thank you sir! Yeah man this is definitely the most difficult song I've ever attempted. Antoine's acrylic nails do help out with those harmonics, but I just can't bring myself to get acrylics... maybe one day... I did mess up on quite a few parts that I really didn't wanna miss, but after taking a few hours to record this one, I gave up after this take, haha. I can do so much better with that crazy tapping part at the end but this one was good enough for me. Haha, thanks again!
@Mordecai36 The biggest thing keeping me from growing out my nails other than my thumbnail is my piano playing! But yeah, no worries - the harmonics were mostly still audible. We'll see if I can do a cover half as good, haha.
Yeah I know what you're saying. My nails were a little longer and it did bother me when I'd play piano. But it doesn't seem to bother me at the length they're at right now. Yeah you should definitely try this song, let me know if you need any help.
I don't even try Dufour because his stuff is so complicated and I'm a pretty good player. I just wanted to know if you have tried any kind of music "slowdowner". There are some great and relatively inexpensive soft and hardware accessories that will help you with the trickier passages. I'm overall very impressed with the speed of you learning this one, you must have practiced your you know what off!
What's up jigawatts! Thanks a lot man! I'm actually really glad you mentioned the slowdowner thing because I have used that years ago and totally forgot about it, but I'm now trying to learn Antoine's song "Existence" and that would be a huge help with it! So I'm gonna download something right now. And yeah, no joke dude, this is the most difficult song I've ever learned and I practiced so much that now that I've recorded it, I'm really tired of playing this song, haha!
I basically did choose my guitar because I wanted to mostly play fingerstyle. It's got a soft wood for the soundboard which I wanted so it could project sound loud enough. It's also a big body guitar which helps with all the little harmonics and whatnot. Also, the company who makes it (Breedlove) made this guitar for fingerstyle guitar players so it worked out perfectly.
