In fact I agree with that: this playing of the song is still far from the Roberta Flack version. I actually think that Leona Lewis is a great singer, really great, but 150% agree with the opinion about the soul in Flack's voice, a soul which gives much meaning to this song. Roberta Flack was not the first person to record this song, Peter, Paul and Mary also recorded this in the 60's. Although Roberta's1972 version is probably the one most every one remembers. This a beautiful version and Leona has an exceptional voice.

Respond to this video... There are so many reasons why I absolutely love this performance. Of course her gorgeous tone quality, her sensitivity and immensely musical interpretation, but also the dynamics - from the softest singing and then when she lets go with the big notes they are just so appropriate and it's still such a gentle performance...
