  • Man, I saw the specs and preview for the Sony NEX-FS100 like you said...thank you so much. Now that's my next camera. Hopefully I can get it by September.

  • ok, i'm sold. I needed something to get my mind off the red epic or scarlet. thank you.

  • You might wanna check out the NEX-FS100 as well as the F3 if "you are looking for more depth of filed" and "better low light sensitivity", as well as price comparison. They all produce beautiful images overall.

  • yes but I would imagine that depends on the lens and maybe for this test it wasn't really adjusted for. Nice cam and acceptable for most HD channel productions which is nice. Obviously can't compare with film be we are not talking film here. I've seen great footage from this cam and perfectly acceptable for anything I would want. Check out lettuce as well and adpters for this cam I beleive you can get your PL adapters out of England

  • love the tests! seems like it vignettes quite a bit from time to time and you're right about the 16!

  • do you really think this is the best choice for filmmakers among HDV?

  • It all depends on what your work requires.

Technology is in a constant change every year, new products are introduced to the market, overall what you choose is what you think is conferring you in work.

The EX3 is a little expensive, but “I believe it is a really good camera” if you know how to use it right.

But again you have to do more comparison, look through it all yourself and give it a try first before you buy anything, that way you have a good knowledge on everything before buying.

  • @generalesoo I'm for renting, coz I compared on Utube any 16mm even cheapest looks better than all those HDV suckers.

  • Is this color graded? or picture profiles?

  • Both!

  • Forget the camera, this music is amazing, which disk is this song on?

  • "Ascension" Future World Music Volume 7 "Evolution" (Disc 1)

  • @generalesoo how do i purchase it?

  • contact them via mail.

  • @generalesoo I did, they haven't responded.

  • normally they do respond, you can try this,

    futureworldmusic . com/licensing

  • For a camera 4 times the price it can't achieve anything near the Canon 5D, but at least it's a proper video camera so probably isn't such a bitch to use.

  • The editing messed it up , really only looked good at 1:20 . So with this camera you can choose how much Focus you want to have? Thats amazing lol

  • did you use the standard lens for the depth of field? how much can you blur the background out?

  • Yes, as much as you want.

  • sorry x5 doesnt exist heheehhe!

  • wich camera its better de x3 or the x5? thanks!

  • What X5?

  • Beautiful.

  • hmmm the first warm shots look great. made the picture look softer(in a good way) yet retained it's high contrast. the rest all look like presets.

all in all it's good. i just hated the slow mo parts. if it's the ex-1 then why not use it's 60fps function? using that for slow mo is gonna be a whole lot better than just adding more frames.

  • Your videos are great. Can you tell me anything about the Picture Profile settins you use in your EX3 to get some of these great effects, such as the high contrast and the saturated coloursa? Thanks

  • well, the picture profile was off. All color grading was done in the editing using "magic bullet".

  • I didn't know that MSA would fork out the cash for such a camera. They were so cheap with our equipment at the engineering department. I guess maybe it all changed when they moved to 6th of October.

Anyways, that's an awesome camera and great shots. Good job

  • Thanks! Actually it's my own camera, I don't think MSA would afford it. They are using Sony HVRHD1000 for special occasions and and the PD150 as the slandered cameras.

  • wow great video great music ...

i am from Brazil and i really like your videos from down here in south america ...

  • Nice clip, looks like a movie. Was it more editing or do you think it was mainly the camera doing a great job, or was it a combo of both. Let me know. Thanks,

  • Combination of both!

  • do those people know you're taping them lol?

  • Habsolutely. LoooL

  • Impressive shots

  • Maybe you can help me. I'm looking for a camera that can reproduce a "film-look". I'm currently working with the Sony FX7 and it's terrible at recreating that look. Although your video has that look, I don't know if it still would without slow/mo, filters etc. Do you perhaps know of a camera that can be recommended without going beyond the $6000 range? I've heard of the Canon XLH1A HD but it's 5 years old and uses DV. Is it still worth investing in DV? Hope you can help...

  • PMW-EX1R

Canon 7D SLR [can be equipped with PL lenses]

Or You can wait for [Scarlet Red]

  • Oh, and are you using any filters? Seems like there is either a blue or a yellow tint to the video.

  • Yep, Magic bullet..

    Bite rate 35 MB/s.

    Reconverted to 720p.

    Not even a 1080P.

  • Hi there! What data rate were you using? 35 Mb/s?

  • If this is the stock lens, then I'm impressed.

  • yep, it is!

  • I'm editing ex3 footage on fcp, can't seem to get my project to youtube - help anyone?

  • What file format you are using as a final work print?

  • I used quicktime conversion and h.264, blah, blah, I just point the camera, man. I'm a writer primarily, just tired of waiting for something to be made.

  • I guess, the problem might be with the upload not the file format.

  • hey, hope you don't mind me asking... what render settings did you use? i would really like to know because i use vegas pro aswell and i really love the quality of this video. Great job! thanks

  • wmv 1080 X 1920 24p.

wmv 720p 24p also works great.

  • thanks

  • loved it ,very nice keep up the good wok

  • Well done! Did you film it in in progressive mode or inter. ? Which resolution would be the best option? As i understand, when filming in interl. mode there are some waves showing up on the picture? Thanks!

  • 1080 X 1920 24p.

  • ................................

  • is this done with the ex3 stock lens?

i use sony vegas pro to edit, i find it easier to use than FC whats your thoughts? i want to get this camera for music videos do you think it will meet the requirements for television broadcasting?

  • Yes, it was.

Well, it depends on what you are more comfortable with in editing.

Yes, as long as you use the correct settings and adjust frame rates the camera would be more than enough for HDTV broadcast requirement.

  • ver nicely done and well scored.

  • Color Tone, Brightness and Contrast...etc [All in Magic Bullet]

  • was this all you did to get that blueish effect on the vid?, i was looking at other videos on youtube using the same camera and thinking why in the world does this one look so goood!

  • Yes, It takes some time to be able to adjust the color tone but eventually it looks great!

  • When you color corrected this, what did you exactly adjust? Sorry, I'm still a bit of a noob on CC.

  • This camera was on my list to buy, until Canon released the 7D

The 7D is; Lighter, Smaller, Affordable, Tape-less, more Versatile, has DOF out of the box, has 720p & 1080p HD, shoots in 24p 30p & 60p & on top of that it does still photography, lol. Wow, plus it's under 2k.

This is like when those Hi-8 cameras were out then they came out with Mini DV, Hi-8 disappeared. Now everybody wave bye bye to Mini DV......

  • I totally agree.. but again the 7D is used for midrange to small production, in real big screen production you need more than a 7D to get things right... Besides the XDCAM EX got it's promotion from big movies like Crank 2 [ Basically shot with Canon XH-A1] , Public Enemies, District 9 ...etc.

Anyway.. Scarlet Red is up soon and the market will heat up.. concluding a new generation of digital cameras....

  • Was all this raw footage or was there some color correction done?

  • Absolutely color correction.

  • well, I thought I did... however the composers name is Armen Hambar.

  • who performed the music to this video - awesomely haunting! Please give them some credit too!

  • is this shot in progressive 24? thanks

  • yes.

  • 0:38 looks incredible

  • what looks incredible i dont get it?

  • I thought that it was the only few seconds of the clip that looked cinematically lit. Nice facial tones on the man on the right and nicely exposed background. I think it looks great.

  • What filter did you use on this video? Also, you have a great eye for shooting.

  • Filters by Magic Bullet.

  • what is the song used in this?

  • Ascension

  • also lol im sorry, but what did you use to edit this? iMovie or final cut?

  • vegas pro

  • im sorry im asking al of these questions but i would like to use tis song in one of my videos... do is the artist?

  • Armen Hambar

  • Where can I get Magic Bullet filters and for how much ? Great job by the way

  • You can get MB from a company called "RED GIANT software" Just Google them. Their not that expensive either.

Technically you can do all the filters yourself, its just MB gives you them pre-made so reduces your work.

  • Great video!

    pointless but great footage!

    kudos!

  • The sound track is awsome.

  • Thanks. Very interesting.

  • Very interesting. You use the EX supplied Fujinon lens or anyother lens?

  • Yes, the supplied Fujinon lens.

  • hola. esto fue grabado a 30p, verdad?

  • No. Esto fue grabado en 24p.

  • A que velocidad esta programada la camara??. Felicitaciones

  • šukron. ma sallam ")

  • when you have to choice to canon XL H1 or this you take sony?..if yes reasons. thank you

  • canon XL H1 can be compared with Sony z1m only.

The XDCAM is more professional in use.

  • Oh man the shoots around 0:44 looks really like film! The other styles are to much ;) What 35 adapter you used? Coler correction with magic bullet?

  • cc with magic bullet, no adapter was used!

  • wich lens were used ?

  • supplied Fujinon lens.

  • The standard Zoon ?

  • Yes, the one that came with the camera.
