@hussargrrl93 Yeah, you're right. The Democrats did support slavery during the 19th century; and the southern Democrats were the authors of the Jim Crow laws. But the Republican "Southern Strategy" of the 1960s changed all that. The GOP absorbed the anti-integration Southern Democrats who rankled at the efforts to end segregation, and then the Republican party as a whole began to oppose any efforts towards the advancement of civil rights whatsoever.

If teabaggers were really constitutionalists, they'd have been outraged by what the Bush administration was doing (denial of habeas corpus, circumventing FISA, torture, illegal wiretaps, "Pre-emptive war" (against a country that was NO THREAT to the US)...) but the vast majority of current teaabaggers supported Bush's policies. Hypocrites? You bet!
