@quiksixx95 - Fords always been able to make high HP cars, just chose not to. Fords never been far behind GM or Chrysler, hell GM had to build the 1994 Camaro Z28 to put the 5.0 out of comission. The 5.0 dominated the muscle car circuit from the mid 80's until 1994 with a smaller motor. It hasn't been forty years. Regardless The BIG three need to stop fighting and go out and eat some RICE!!!

An 3.4 v6 only puts out 160 at the crank... that was 15 years and 160,000 miles ago. But I do agree with the last part. Everyone should start focusing on getting hondas out of the racing world and back to how it should've always been.

In 1967, when chevy came out with the camaro, it had a 295 HP 350. Then, the ford Mustang GT had a 335hp 390cid. The four speed camaro did 0-60 in 8 seconds and the quarter mile in 15.4 at 90 mph-directly comparable to the Mustang so I'd say small cubic inch chevies have the upper hand.The chevy 302 z/28 had a 7500rp, shift point and a 140mph top speed, and besides that Big Blocks have gobs of torque over small blocks.

The Boss 429 was a limited run speedway motor, standing start acceleration was poor, and the first run from the factory was built with incorrect valve springs(typical ford) and stopped winding at 4800 rpm, 400 rpm before peak power was made. The 454 LS6 in the 70' Chevelle had the highest factory horespower rating during the muscle car era at 450hp, and even weighing in at 4000lbs, was .7 of a second quicker to 60 and .3 of a second faster in the quarter than the 3,800lb mustang 429.

It made an actual 500hp, where the CJ 428, with 2" more displacement and higher compression, made only 410 actual horespower(factory rated at 335hp) The 68 Charger Hemi, which is 4300lbs, is .1 quicker to 60 and .3 quicker and 5mph faster in the quarter than the 3600lb Mustang CJ. I saw the video and owned the C&D magazine with this article, noe real winner since both cars had problems, the camaro coudn't best the mustang in the 1/4 mile before it broke and fixed its rear end. The stang lost oil pressure on the road test and lost. The thing that made the mustang win in my mind was the astonishing 0-60 time of 1.9 seconds and a burn out that left a pile of rubber burning on the ground.

In my opinion, You compare cars that are close to each other hp to weight ratio. Mustangs generally weigh 3,900lbs corvettes are roughly around 3,200. This is just a different class. Mustangs are muscle cars just like the Dodge Challenger and Charger. Corvettes are more in the "supercar" category.
