@johnlopez96 You really had me thinking.. I watched the video and checked all the times I could see the mixture... but I think it just appears they are leaned.. the prop levers are taller than the mixture controls and appear to be back, but they are forward... at least the appear to be, to me...... this was an old video.. from 2003...
@johnlopez96 If you look at 2:57 and at 2:59 you see how the illusion of a lean mixture is effected by the prop... at 2:57 the prop levers are back... and at 2:59 they are forward.. and it looks like the mixtures are leaned at 2:59
@jmr604 OK! Yes, looks like pretty much an illusion. Might be impossible two pilots flying and both them forgot the mixture. Anyway was a nice flight, and we know how much difficult can be flying an six pack instrument those days, we need to be concentrated. Nice flight! see u around
@johnlopez96 I've been flying 10 years now.. and it's all been on analog guages... but I'm use to glass because of a lot of hours on my simulator at home.
As I read my history the Aztec were known as very good fliers, in fact in 1689 they almost shot up a Spanish army but in the end they were all shot out of the sky.
Really? I thought it was because it was just a older plane why it didn't require a key. So your telling me that most bigger aircraft for example like a Multi engine King Air, or perhaps a Kamanche don't need key to start?
Yeah.. Most airplanes other than small aircraft don't have keys. King Air's, other twins such as Aztec, Navajo's... Dash-8's, Boeing 747's... don't need keys... just smaller pipers and cessna's... aircraft where losing keys is less of an issue.
People stealing aircraft is pretty rare.. I've never heard of it. If they do, they have to be a pilot in the first place... if they get past security... if there is any... there are a lot of places aircraft can get stolen if you happen to find one that has open doors... Yeah, it was the NDB approach.
Oh yes do airplanes get stolen. It's happened several times at my home airport.
Once a crazy guy stole one our 172s & landed it in a parking lot. Another time, a truck came & took apart the wing, then put the aircraft on the back of a truck.
Another time, an owner left his keys in his mooney & it vanished the next day.
They found it three years later in South America repainted.
Many more stories!
Airport secuiryt in these municiple airport aren't the best.
dont look outside concentrate on ur instruments dont turn (slap) there u go we out...lol thats what my instructor said to me in the same plane lol (1st hour of instrument)
nice to see your succes. but i am pretty sure that you worked hard to get there, i am will to take the same route as you but i ve been on pilots forum, and i ended up by chosing seneca college for the FPR program, anyway what license do you have now? ..and happy and safe next flight of course :)
It was not the easiest thing I've done but it was all very worth it.. I love my job. Right now I have a CPL & Multi rating.. I use to have Group 1 IFR too but I let it go.. plan to renew next year sometime.
Very nice work guys - and some excellent flying!! I grew up in a '76 PA-23-250 and flew with my father until he sold it in 1987. Nothing like the venerable Aztec - you can't really get yourself into trouble with it unless you take it someplace it shouldn't be - or if you are into density altitude conditions and lose an engine - let's face it, the SE performance ain't great - but this sure brought back some memories and thank you for that. Happy and safe flying to all of you.
mixture cutoff...the end....

Take care when doing touch go landings, you left the mixture lean.

what about theft?
One of these days, somebody is gonna steal our schools Aztec since nobody locks the doors.
I noticed you have the idenification function playing out loud on short final. Where you doing an NDB approach?

Ooops, still a great aicraft and it is one of few that can take full pax and full fuel.
