it's amazing how some pics of hannibal make him look like a greek or roman; he was from north africa and more than likely looked like a middle easterner, like Jesus did. Silliness....
OK, I was liking it till we got to ths part and the history all got a little vague and selective. How can they skip through the feats of hannibal and not even mention Tresime then make the strategy at Cannae sound like a simple Cavalry "reach around". what a load of bollocks. I lost intere .. pff
"and we have to go to world war 1 to find a scale as big"
huh,did they include Chinese history?cause armies as big as 650,000 or even up to a million, were destroyed and massacred in several battles WAY before 20th century
Hannibal was exiled to the court of Antiochus. After Antiochus was defeated, Hannibal fled to Bithynia where he killed himself by drinking poison in 183 B.C.
The Roman equipment and arms arent acurate... And the carthaginians look more like romans auxilliares when they used Iberians, numidians, samenites, luccanians and gauls...
Hannibal shouldn't have sent his Elephants in the front lines first at Zama. he should've led the Numidian cavalry off the battlefield and into a trap. Had his experienced troops in the front lines and Elephants last to finish of the Romans.
Besides his brothers Hasdrubal and Mago, Hannibal had 7 sisters! Their names are not known or recorded, they must've been beautiful and powerful princesses surely.
@HistoryLover1550 though caesars army was much more dangerous than the early republican armies that hannibal faced so it would be a battle. I think that hannibal is a better general but caesar has the better army
So what was the big deal... he defeated one roman army out numbered around 1.8 to 1... wooooow oh wait he took some elephants across the alps... which sorry seems silly to me. So I just don't get how impressed the historians in this clip are...
@maklomite I wouldnt say defeted he annihilate the Roman army 70to 90 thousand romans in a matter of hours. That was his biggest battle in Rome he had defeted the Romans many time before. His tactics are teach all over the world in military colleges and universities.
70.000 Romans killed in one battle?? are these numbers trustworthy, conducting an internet research some sources really say about 70.000 others "just" more than 45.000 which is still an awful lot. - but in the whole story ismuch to condensed in this report
It is widely known that numbers are not reliable. Errors occur from exaggerations, limited ability to make accurate counts, and errors in replicating documents. Roman numerals can especially be mistakenly written when copied.
From what I remember, Polybius is especially confused as his casualty figures are greater then his numbers given for the entire Roman Army. lol. Usually Roman army figures comes from multiplying number of legions by like 5000. But often times individual cohorts and legions are undermanned and go into battle with many less people. This common error will lead to greater numbers than personnel actually present.
@wildhias nah 70000 was the number of romans dead in the entire war... i think. Not that many romans died at cannae. American docs tend to overreact and exaggerate a bit in my opinion...

this is BULLSHIT BECAUSE THE roman EMPIRE FELL 2 CARTHAGE and HANNIBAL Was killed VIA poisen he neva killed himself
and im gona make sure i do some more research because these white historians always have selective memory they neva want you 2 research the shit fully
The Roman Empire didn't fall to Carthage.. Carthage (Hannibal) attacked Rome and won every battle, but never defeat the Roman Empire. In the end he was forced to fall back home.
This was BEFORE Julius Ceasar, so Rome could not have fallen to Carthage. Because when Ceasar was alive, the Roman Empire had expanded so much, and it was STILL expanding. Hannibal was LONG DEAD when this happend.
So blackPowerStick, i agree with you. You should research a bit more.
