  • The governments role is to protect the privacy of the individual from other individuals and government, not to protect the privacy of government from individuals.

  • when can the plice enter your home? can they enter your house with a warrant when their is no one present like the owner or someone with the owners consent?

  • Everyone needs to record the police every chance we get each and every day and force this issue into the public view. The police work for us and we out number them 1000 to 1 and if we stand together there is no way this blatant abuse of power will ever stand. And we must not stand for this blatant abuse of power or we will become the socialist police state of our worst fears. The police are hired by we the people to enforce our laws, not to abuse the power we have entrusted them with against us.

  • @NOTy0urPUPPET AMEN BROTHER!!!

  • I work security and have on many occasions been falsely accuses of various civil rights violations. Because of this I make a habit of trying to get the people I'm dealing with on one of the surveillance cameras and have considered getting a personal "button cam" youtube is full of video claiming police brutality where there is none so I can see why some cops don't like being recorded but if you are in the right you shouldn't worry about it.

  • What do cops have to hide?

  • @MrBullfrog9876

    Criminal activity?

  • Comment removed

  • cops wont save a man from drowning because of budget cuts but they will harass skateboarders and arrest people dancing at the jefferson memorial

  • Any cop that disagrees with the video camera should be fired immediately. You cops work for us and we think its a good idea. State law doesn't supersede the constitution. All you little control freaks are going to get fired or arrested soon if you keep up the criminal activity.

  • I love that MY country is holding those accountable for their actions and have voices. NO transparency here :) Go ahead and hate,.. or stand up and speak !!! Up 2 you !!

  • These abuses will continue until individual police officers are held personally responsible. It's outrageous that police would claim they have right to privacy while performing their duties. Police officers should assume they are being filmed. If they have done nothing wrong, what do they have to hide?

  • I'm usually against government spending, but putting a camera on EVERY cop is definitely money worth while. Someone should write up a petition.

  • are police even real people? where thr hell do they fing these guys?

  • @DrunkenNuts - Many are the highschool dropouts who join the miltiary for two years so that they have "a career path". If they do miltary service, they don't need to do 2 years of junior college to be eligible to become a police officer.

  • @MiranUT nine month class in some places

  • Let's get CATO to partner with the ACLU to protect the civil rights of all Americans.

  • CATO blows but I give them props for standing up for civil rights in this video. Our national security state USA must have jumped the shark for these folks - who were supporting GOP candidates running on the old law and order platform.

  • So, why do we still have three states that do not allow video taping of Police, why is it allowed ?

  • Not only to protect the “right to record a policeman interaction”.

    But also the 2 amendment.

Once you hold video prove is in self-defense (not justified police violent action => reaction), you do have as much power as them to respond to violence (with guns), some smart dude gave you that right not to delegate all violence in the state. I was against that when I thought that having a gun was only a threat to your equals, now I understand is a protection against your not equals but Government.

  • my dad's a policemen

he never beats people at random times

  • @makealotofcake Irrelevant and personalizing the issue.

  • The police are anti-freedom, rights-violating, criminal, fascist scum! Still...the general public COMMANDS them to be thus. The use their democratic vote to MAKE the police enforce drug, prostitution, gun, etc. control. Now these laws all constitute criminal TYRANNY!!!

  • Maryland has the worst cops on the east coast.

  • Comment removed

  • Aren't you glad our law presumes innocence? With cops like these, imagine if you pissed one off at the personal level. They could plant meth in your house and then get all their cop friends to be witnesses to your "bad behavior" just to get you back for when you stepped on their foot in high school. The cops really don't seem to mind abusing their power in Maryland. The one thing some people forget sometimes is: cops are humans, and humans can be good, bad, AND evil. Don't forget that.

  • Maryland, and particularly Prince Georges County pride itself an being a police state and thre Berzerkly of the East. My in-laws lived there and my wife discussed what we would do if we ever got pulled over in PG County. It is essential to get to a populated spot to keep from likely being assaulted by PG cops. I'm white and can't imagine how bad it must be for black folks who have been beaten to death while in handcuffs.

  • never really though about murdering till i saw those cops tackle that kid. fuckin pussies. anybody down for some bacon?

  • Protect yourselves from the police and domestic disputes with jilted lovers and unauthorized home invasions from the police.

    Police the Police.

  • Book free download 50 pgs , How God Created the Universe , see channel and video for info .,.,. added bonus gravitational singularity / 62,000 channel views .,.,. peace ...

  • 3 of these examples are in my state, MD. It is amazing the audacity of these police officers. I wonder if they went after the person that removed the segment of tape where the kid was attacked by the police, probably not. Blue Code of Silence.

  • cops SUCK!!!

  • @Calracer21 - I hope you or someone in your family gets shot and then no cop shows up to save you.

  • @ballztransam99

LOL,, Blow me beotch. COPS SUCK!!!! Just like you!

  • @ballztransam99 If he does get shot, that's quite likely. Cops aren't out to help you, from my experience.

  • If cops are going to bust into a person's home with full military gear, they need to be held accountable for their actions. Perhaps with cameras, cops will think twice about firing their military-grade weapons. This video illustrates the problems everyday citizens face when dealing with law enforcement, who often forget who they work for.

  • @palookabutt Oh yeh, if you can't present intelligent arguments against them, then just impugn their intelligence; typical liberal tactic.

  • That off duty cop was lucky the biker wasn't carrying. Could have gotten himself shot due to ego.

  • @SmokeDogNY420 Should have gotten himself shot due to ego.

    Fixed that for you.

  • @mzmadmike thanks, not sure what i was thinking....thin the herds, i say...

  • meh, all i hear about are laws, remove laws and remove all these problems

  • Just wait soon as all cell phones will stream video out all over the net and the cops can't do nothing because the cameras will already sent the video so taking the camera away will be use less. Damage done, unretractable. HAHA

  • it already exists. porcupine 411

  • @ssssaaafff lol they already do that man. my droid does it

  • I know they receive streaming video, how to you make it send?

  • Stossel had a program on firing non performing teachers He said it is good for buisnesses to fire the bottom 5% who are underperforming.

If it helps schools and buisnesses, it'll help lawenforcment. job security should only exist for those who can perform.

  • Shoot a pig in the face for jesus.

  • they do have the right to record, but are being harassed for doing so. a lot of people will not stand up to authority and are not willing to exercise their rights because they will run into red tape or they dont know that they can do so. Cops can lie to pursue justice, they have no incentive to film themselves and have always protected their own over citizens.

  • I'm not a cop but you people's comments are ignorant. "Cops" as well as every branch of the military refer to you as civilians because they have taken an oath to maintain peace and serve you in any way possible . The police are held to a higher standard than any other public service. But like any job, there are the people that ruin it for the rest of the decent ones. In all of these cases, believe me there were 1000 officers that would have acted differently.

  • @snay33 We are defined by what we are, not by what we are not. You and I are *citizens,* not non-police or military personnel ("civilians"). Citizens have rights and responsibilities, and various police forces throughout this country have demonstrably proved time and time again that they will disregard those rights and responsibilities in the course of their duty.

This is not the case of a few bad apples. This is institutionalized abuse because there's no real recourse.

  • @snay33 Keep telling yourself that. lol

  • Fucking pigs.

  • I hate what my country is becoming.

  • @GamePak72 Sadly my firend, it is the entire world. Things are changing rapidly whilst the masses of sheeple are fast asleep.

New World Order.... Coming to a planet near you.

  • @TheCosmicGypsies - It is not the entire world. It's the USA. I don't have to worry about cops and guns where I live: Japan. Much more relaxing and secure than the USA! I moved here years ago and have absolutely no desire to go back the the USA, even for a visit.

  • @MiranUT It is not just the USA, Europe is also a major player in their plans for a New World Order

  • @TheCosmicGypsies - Do the police bust into people's homes, shoot first and ask questions later in European countries, too? Glad I live where I do. How do you think Asia will play into the new World Order?

  • Comment removed

  • @GamePak72 and don't let them take your guns. The Second Amendment is there to protect the citizens of America against a Government of tyrants which it already is and has been for a long time. That doesn't mean go out and shoot cops. Any one that fully understands the Constitution should know what I mean.

The Constitution guarantees your freedom and it is not being upheld. The people in power want to see it destroyed, as well as us.

  • @GamePak72 - Is becoming? You mean "what is has become". Well, I guess it will get worse. Wait till the war on drugs and the war on terror morph together. Hopefully the economy will tank soon and deminish US world power.

  • @GamePak72 Not only your country. Its the whole world.

  • I love how the police get angry when people film them yet have no problem Wire tapping, spying, staking out people's homes, reading mail, email and getting records from utility companies and ISPs. Not to mention no knock warrents which people think are home invasions. Yet they have the right of privacy in the middle of the street. When a person has all the power, they have to be completely accountable. Otherwise you get abuse.

  • @jimmy202500 Some police officers Jimmy ? The thing is we never see the good ones, do we ?

  • I love how the police get angry when people film them yet have no problem Wire tapping, spying, staking out people's homes, reading mail, email and getting records from utility companies and ISPs. Yet they have the right of privacy in the middle of the street.

  • police officers are hitlers o a power trip. Most of them have terrible attitudes. They also thnk they are above te law and better than everone else.

  • the police are only there by the consent of the people. things like this cant go on forever. people need to be aware if shit like this

  • we peoples need to protect ourself from this legalize gangs

  • Comment removed

  • @lIluminated What makes you so "Illuminated" if you don't mind me asking.

  • @Alicauni Probably a cop's lamp shining on my ass. Would you like to be enlightened too?

  • @lIluminated Comment removed?

  • @Alicauni Manners and decorum. Could be kids about!

Hopfully not being shot in the head!

  • They found thier murder suspect alright, it was the stupid f*ken cop who killed that innocent little girl. Even if it was an accident, its manslaughter bare minimum.

  • excellent post... i hope those police officers are briefed on this news :)

  • As more people find out that our govt. wants us dead, a cam or no cam , we are going to have to kill pigs for our own protection.

  • What about software that can erase something or insert something on camera?

  • When the guy jumped out of his car with his gun the guy on the bike had every right to pull a gun and shoot him. He didn't know who it was.

  • Always have a camera ready to record... you never know when they may "Accidentally" bust in the wrong house.

  • This behavior is a side effect of the monetary system and social conditioning.. get rid of the root ... and the tree will fall

  • Police who oppose citizens who record them are a threat to the constitution.

  • 3 cops watched this video.

  • I'm so happy to be a Canadian! We rarely get that kind of shit from our cops because they're trained to talk to people first and then, if the person is getting agitated, then they will use the force to arrest them like someone who's on PCP, you cannot talk to that person as he or she is to high to be coherent and most of the time, that person will get violent towards the cops so the have to taze the person.....

  • @domdom111111 It's hard to tell -- are you being ironic or are you just stupid? (Re: Rodney King)

  • Gotta love the Cato Institute- standing for economic AND personal liberties.

  • State power should be limited only to it's primary functions, like beating up random people for fun and profit.

  • So it's ok for the police to use audio-video if they can gain something from it. But it's no ok for citizens to use it for his/her benefit?

I don't think so. People, continue using all your cameras and audio-video to catch these criminals in the act. They have no power over you.

Say NO to their "FEAR TACTICS".

  • @richieisland They are really the most dangerous street gang in America, its getting worse. If you know any personally you know that some of them hate us all. Any mistake you make is justification to jump you, shake you down, and kidnap you. The courts and its officials are willing assistants because that is how they justify their raises: All these criminals - Us. The ones that aren't really like that look away, going along to get along. Serpico? Anywhere? Where?

    Cops hate Serpico.

  • The police want to have the right to be a douche bag!

  • @hawkermustang oh, for the most part they already have the right.... almost all police are... douche bags

  • This is stupid. I don't want police afraid to take action. I pay them to work without any hesitation.

  • @Gamelore

they only need to be afraid of breaking the law. they're in public. they're public servents. there's no right to privacy for them, and you're a moron if you don't understand that cops violate rights tens of thousands of times, every year.

  • There a states where the cops are prosecuting people with cell phone cameras and camcorders under wire-tapping laws for Pete's sake! 3:05 Those laws were written to protect citizens from police, not to protect rouge cops from public scrutiny.

  • crimes committed by police on the job should carry double the punishment.. Because the officer is a trusted servant who abused his or her powers...

  • The most notorious Gang in the U.S.A...you guessed it - the Police!

  • cops these days are worse than the criminals.

  • @1980valentine how can they be worse if they train the thugs? i tihnk u mean more badd!!

  • @1980valentine Going this far is just fucking retarded.

  • @bypass12345 how the fuk is it retarded you daft cunt

  • one time me and a couple of mates were at this party and this lil irish cop goes up to my mate hes 6'5 110kg a big dude he just finshed pucnhing in a two story window , well anyways the cops like your not guna give me any trouble right my mate says if you touch me i will, the cop touches him next minute you see the cop on one knee asking my mate to let go of hes hand , he jus grabed the cops hand and bent it in a way no hand should be bent fucking funny shit nz cops for ya

  • @unknownoink No, that's just Kiwis for ya, always trying to get into fights (usually with people way smaller than them) because they're bored and stupid (much like cops). Your mate was being a dick. Let's assess the situation: your mate damaged property, threatened someone, assaulted someone. The cop just tried to assess his own safety and undermine someone's threatening behaviour. Fucking Kiwi knobs...the only reason the cop wasn't a tool was that he was actually Irish.

  • @hayesism shut up

  • @unknownoink You're a true wit. Possibly the smartest man in New Zealand.

  • @hayesism could be

  • I support this 100%

Pass this on to everyone you know. It may save you from a future beat down cutesy of your local P.D.

    Thx XD

  • What? The Cato Institute taking a liberal stance?

Did I miss something? How is the universe still intact?

  • @slaughterunicorns thinking the same thing. quite odd....wondering why. may be bait. lol

  • Good Job Cato institute for posting this

  • What did I learn? Don't go to Maryland! And it reinforces my concern that the Police need citizens to keep them in check.

  • We need laws that makes it illegal for homeland security or law enforcement to conduct an arrest, raid or an insurrection againt an American citizen or citizens without the camera and sound rolling. Or tax dollars paid for that equipment, make them use it!

  • The police are a criminal gang. They refer to us as "Civilians" not citizens. While the vast majority of police do not abuse people, they will not oppose those who do. This makes them accomplices in the assaults and violations of civil rights. DA's across the country enable this bad behavior by not prosecuting these assaults as the felonies they are.

  • @RevisHill

    Correct!++++++++++++++++

  • @RevisHill What use is it to ban the army from working as law enforcement when they arm themselves with machine guns, grenades, body armor, APVs, helicopters, and train in "dynamic entry" (armed homed invasion), "Interrogation" (they lie like dogs, worse, it is so automatic for most of them that they don't think they do lie), "investigation" (spying, using informants that are liars, run by cops that are undercover liars) Sounds like a potent military force to me...

  • @RevisHill Agreed 100%.....

  • sorry but most police do abuse people. pull your head out, moron

  • @RevisHill

Remember district attorneys are attorneys first, citizenship and rule of law is often secondary or not at all a concern. The bar associations have usurped the rule of law and have been granted a monopoly on our Constitutional right of access to the courts.

Just like the legalized extortion rackets of insurance, it is institutionalized socialism. If insurance companies and bar associations had to rely solely upon free markets, half of them would fold overnight.

  • @RevisHill - Agree. Also, please keep in mind that the police are the iron fist of the government.

Every thing the police do, including all of the abuse, is completely condoned by their superiors, the government.

They can stop police abuse overnight simply by telling the chief of police that if there is one more incident he will be summarily fired with no pension.

The fact that no government police superior does this is very telling.

  • No, not as long as taking the video doesn't impede what they are doing. I had the same problem with the NY FD a couple of years ago, and in that case they were leaving a building where there was no fire. Couldn't see why it mattered, but I didn't push the issue--axes and all :).

  • if a cop isn't doing anything wrong, he shouldn't mind someone recording him.

but apparently the police does so many wrong things, that it's a real concern for them... and THAT should be a concern to everyone.

  • i think if the camera man is trained for the purpose of unbias wide shot filming than it could be beneficial to protecting police (esp if perps know filming is standard) to deter someone from firing. and it protects people from a cop so full of adrhenaline there not thinking b4 a shot or from the ones who use a badge as a bully reasoning to be forceful or even using verbal abuse in an arrest environment. my point..train the cameramen intensly & it could work on all accounts.., laurabelievein

  • The Cops/Police are going to have to decide whether they serve the government or the people. It is going to get to the point that the Government is not going to be of the people, for the people and by the people. We are going to see more cops doing this if the current political landscape does not change.

  • this is a great opportunity to mention COPWATCH. a 100% volunteer organization to video tape cops in action in cities across the country. kind of a teaparty approach. check it out.

  • Someone has to watch the watchers.

  • Just 1 More reason to Not live in demmie Maryland.

  • I shared on Facebook. Very much in agreement with the comments below. How very odd. The police officers who murder or commit assault needs serious repercussions.

  • So why can people not tape the Gulf Oil Spill. The Feds make them turn off all cameras.

  • @amyalewine Because it's boring.

  • The only cops that have a problem being filmed are cops who have something to hide. That's always the statist argument right? I love how that shit never works both ways. This is a major problem, but with the political tide turning towards freedom, I think this is a problem that will ultimately sort itself out.

  • This is why we need more lawyers :) (half-kidding)

  • If you didn't feel angry after watching this than you are wrong!

  • Fucking pigs. Every cap needs a bullet in the face. There are *no* good cops.

Only insane Republican theofascist piles of shit become cops, normal people do not. Then these monsters get hopped up on steroids and become just as bad as the criminals they're charged with taking off of our streets.

We don't need pigs added to the violence and crimes occurring on our streets, we don't need theofascist cult loons trying to see if they an out-do the crooks.

    Fucking pigs.

  • @NotSoOldHippy i'm a conservative and I strongly hate cops. with a passion

  • @NotSoOldHippy watch what you post brother. You don't want anyone coming knocking on your door.

  • @NotSoOldHippy Its a bit extreme to say there are no good cops. There are good cops. Maybe its just the bad ones who are put in positions of power. I just hope that bthe good ones don't get too discouraged and leave. Lets not discourage them by our negative comments about them. It may eem hopeless, but we need the good ones in place to limit these shitty actions

  • I wish these people were there for some of these incidents, I would love to get their decisions on camera, so then when it back fires we can sue them and fire them, like they do to the police.

  • You know what the BEST part of this whole thing is? THE ASSHOLE COPS WILL NEVER KNOW WHEN THEY'RE BEING TAPED. Do you hear that, you stormtrooper motherfuckers? You fucking assholes have to watch your backs now- VIDEO IS EVERYWHERE and when you cocksuckers go bad, it will end up on the news and YOU'LL BE FIRED IN DISGRACE. Why the FUCK can't you just do your fucking jobs without beating the shit out of people who don't deserve it? You're NOT the judge and jury. Have fun worrying, DICKHEADS!

  • If I'm paying your salary I have the right to monitor and make a record of your job-related behavior. Works in private industry, works in the public sector too. And, as someone who transitioned from private to public sector, I have no problem with that.

  • @dorkf1sh Right on man! The cops have somehow gotten to be powerdrunk. The major douche cop who pulled the gun on the biker is a perfect example. What's he going to do- shoot someone for fucking speeding? What a MAJOR asshole- I hope they fire his sorry ass and he gets prosecuted for being a douchebag. There are REAL crimes they should be trying to stop- not beating the piss out of people for no fuckijng reason. THEY HAVE NO EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY WHEN DOING THEIR JOBS IN PUBLIC. Fuck them.

  • This is a double-edged sword. First off, we're being spied on illegally 24/7, we have to spy back to keep them in check. ie: Oscar Grant, when it's possible to do so. NO reasonable expectation of privacy in public, for citizens or cops. However, with facial recognition software becoming sop, mere interaction with a cop with video strapped to his head, gives even more panopticon tracking of movement in the public setting. AmeriKa is now a full blown police state... descending into tyranny...
  • @LORENZZO1983LORENZZO

Your post makes no sense at all.

  • @LORENZZO1983LORENZZO What The Fuck are you saying? What happened to the English language. I get this is a tragedy, but for Gods sake speak Spanish, I mean English.

  • @txcombatvetx2 i am fucking sayng that ur leaders are those who must be oppressed not u or I ..ok ?

and for GOD sake ..go and find more about u ..I AM A ROMANIAN that speaks 7 different languages ..ok ?

Do u find it easy ??

    GOD BLESS !!!

  • maybe we need to point a gun at them. like they point guns at us

  • It's nice to know a major organization is finally becoming aware and taking a stand against this.

  • Obey your oath (constitution)!

be a good servant of the people! ..till then Fxck the Police!

    where's the peace officers?

  • this month in Dallas a bunch of ASSHOLE COWARds attacked a motorcyclist and beat him AFTER their superior ORDERED not to pursue him, then one of the 20, yes 20 ASSHOLES turned their dash cam away so as to NOT allow recording of their actions. Now tell me, what the fuck's the difference between these ASSHOLES and street gangs ?? Is it their pretty badges ?, sanctioned freedom to do as they will ? There are good officers and there are ASSHOLES, remember anyone can squeeze a trigger & we should !

  • Any person who thinks filming the police is bad Is a criminal cop!

  • So...In Maryland one can SUE the Federal Government for "wiretapping"?

  • FUCK POLICE BRUTALITY!

  • There will be no difference between law enforcement officers and a violent gang of thugs if we can no longer film cops while they are on duty!

  • @GunOwnerDan Is there a difference now?

  • Without video, the police can get away with just about anything they want including assault, rape, robbery, and murder. No doubt about it!

  • @GunOwnerDan

For sure, and in the case of the cops beating a student that was totally withing his rights, a wonderful tool to keep the police in line!!! Funny...they can lie, to try and get information from you, but if you lie to them it's a big deal!!! HYPOCRITS!!!!

  • Cops have had a good run at accelerating their power, popularity and funding since 9/11. This has of course been at the expense of the public's constitutional rights (that are NOT given, and can therefore NOT be taken from us by the local, state or federal government) and we are now reaping the rewards of this huge mistake. 9/11 was all about grabbing global control and that starts locally. It's time to re-establish the constitution as the ultimate law of the land. Time to burn the Patriot Act!

  • I like the Preakness arrest, the cop says its illegal to record voices, or anything else. What a joke. These guys are quick to state that "the law says something" but try to ask them a question about the law and they'll tell you its not up to them, they're not attorneys. But, if they feel threatened by a citizen with a camera, then they *know* all the laws pertaining to video recording.

When seconds count, the cops are only minutes away.

  • @KLRPilot Love the quote there. it's funny because it's true. The only way to stop the kind of badge-wearing trash cans from tarnishing the reputation of the few actual good cops is to stand up and be willing to be wrongfully arrested for filming.

  • @MrMissavage absolutely true. If you are in a position to film a/or cop(s) in action, you have to make the mental evaluation if this is the point where you want to make a stand. Is your job, freedom, livelihood, family worth getting a few minutes of video that may or may not show some cops acting inappropriately? It's a tough call. Then you're for ever labelled as a cop hater or anarchist. Remember cops enforce code, they do not evaluate and make decisions on law.

  • COPS ARE A GANG !

  • 3:39 Looks like a "Detective" or some kind of other Office Dweller... check out that piss boor weapon draw. Bet that one hits the range ONCE a year, if. And what's he going to do? Shoot him for driving away? Hope he got suspended and got retraining.

  • so wait.. are we allowed to record police officers??? i live in Ohio it that matters...
