Why did no one ever seem to mind George Jefferson always harping on the clor of his skin, as in this episode where some magazine called BLACK LIFE is going to interview George, but if they ever had a magazine called WHITE LIFE the phones would be ringing off the hook to complain about the racist magazine. And George was always making comments about the Willis' being inter racial that would have gotten Archie Bunker tossed off the air. What a bunch of Black racist hypocrites!

I love shows like All in the family and the jeffersons because they delt with real social issues and still had a lot of laughs.

Not so. Overpopulation tends to be in lands inhabited by non-whites. Many of the problems in those societies are because of overpopulation. It's not "subliminal racism". It's population regulation. Even China realizes this and has implemented measure among its populace for this purpose.

@Goukimessatsu2 The person who played Allan in the first season was Andrew Rubin, who played one of the cadets on Police Academy. He played in just one episode in the first season, which was called Jenny's Low. He replaced by Jay Hammer in the fifth season.

hi webraider72, you mean well but you're totally wrong. My family is just like that. Some of us turn out very pale with light hair. Some of us turn out very dark skinned. It's the luck of the genetic draw. Only 5% of your genetic make-up comprise your skin color. 2 people who are darker can produce a pale child and vice-versa. I'm dark skinned with lighter hair but my dad was very pale. My mom was dark and super gorgeous. They weren't wrong in their depiction of an American family.

its a cute outdated theory from the 1970s that really sounds nice for the moment but causes lots of problems in the longterm if it were put into practice. China tried the one child policy... well all the girls were aborted so now there are literally millions of men who can't find a wife in china and thus are forced to leave their culture and country inorder to have kids.

I love the expression on Tom Willis face at 8:04 after his son says, "You call that small?" I started laughing uncontrollably when Tom says "Did you hear that everybody? He called me a fat slob!" Whoever wrote this drew from personal experience with the common miscommunication in many families.
