  • awesome game back in the day, and honestly should have been a screenplay for a new movie. probably could have left the voice acting out though.

  • Just curious, what happens if you let Kerner go with the 10 beads he planned for?

  • @wayamy27narf you cant, alas. he just says, oh nothing, he demands you say it, and you, well, have to say it.

  • Damn thats that tune from Juelz Santanas "The Second Coming" song oO

  • I got it on my wii game staff of kings

  • Hi, I'm selling these fine leather jackets.

  • I love the "Dies Irae" plainchant in the God-maker chamber.

  • Please, someone help me!

I have windows 7 and i can't install this game besause it doesn't support fullscreen mode. So i use Scummvm DOS emulator, but I can't save my game!

  • @Holkovics You can save in ScummVM, but read the documentation. I don't remember how to do it :-)

  • @Holkovics To save a date with Scummvm, press F5 ;)

  • @Holkovics f5

  • I beat all this SCUMM games as a kid without knowing any english, that's mean those games puzzles were very easy!!!

  • SPOIL !

  • I remember buying a book at my videogame store, a compilation with solutions to graphic adventures. Jesuschrist, we were primitive internetless kids back then.

  • the scientist is Jar Jar?

  • ...And for some reason my game won't accept the final stone combination to trigger the Nazi sequence. Awesome...

  • I grew up with this game :) but it did not have voices . I finished it with my dad in every different ways that it can be finished.

Oh so many memories... Thanks for uploading this vid ;)

  • El mejor juego de esa epoca!!!!

  • Adlib...as it should be.

  • I just played this game but couldn't get Sophia to come along and then she desintegrated :(

  • @thedoobieman5 next time pass to her the rod found at the statue guardian of the internal door, then open the jail.

  • @thedoobieman5 You need to cure Sophia's possession to stop her from blowing herself up. Try destroying her necklace.

  • a movie should have been made out of this

it would be great after the kingdom of the crystal skull

  • @Zolega89 or instead of

  • this game waaass aaaa classic! :)

  • professors sounds so irritating

  • where did you get the combination for that last machine?

  • @Ditre It's written on the wall over the lava maze - check it out in the previous video

  • @mikosoft The combination for Colossus carved on the wall makes no sense to me at all and shows two symbols I can't make out any pointers. I'm on the Team Path but it doesn't help that some puzzles in this game are random the only other game that's this frustrating was Full Throttle. I'm using ScummVM to play the CD-Rom maybe you have saves. I find using Wingroove or the MT-32 emulator MIDI driver makes the music in this game sound CD quality like FM Towns good in ScummVM.

  • @Ditre

It is on the backgound wall in the lava maze if I recall correctly :-)

  • I've been waiting for over 10 years if this remake! Come on PSN!

  • @crewdogg15 just buy it on Steam for 5 bucks if you wanna play it again :D

  • Those wierd creatures at the end of the game Doom, the first one. Thats what the thing Kerner changes into reminded me of.

  • I used to Play this all the time back in the day..never got the speech working Though so i used my own Voice to do the german accent..it seems like i wasn't that far off the real deal. One of my all time favorite games

  • I got the Wii version and this thing is dryving my crazy

  • wow old memories.

  • Dies Irae!

  • this game is so hard to run on pc

i guess my pc just cant make it

  • Don't worry. Download ScummVM and it works perfectly. It's free.

  • I never got if Kerner committed suicide because he wasn't a "perfect race" man anymore, or he just fell.

  • From the first time I saw the ending I went with the mutation-gone-bad scenario. The desperate "Noooo!" when he jumps into the lava pit affirms this.

  • can u plz send me a download link of the full version of this game? i must have it

  • @mikosoft where you download it??

  • Wow!

Some of the best ideas in the world are either never known, or only known to one or very few people or are just never fully appreciated because of when and or how they were released to the public. Which is sad in a way because they are often the most entertaining, imaginative, unique, meaningful and popular ideas around the world. Too bad this idea and the "Infernal Machine" were never very popular, unfortunately.

Infernal Machine was even criticized just for the fact that it was a Si-Fi.

  • Indiana Jones has been criticised whenever it has strayed from the formula of Christian relic+Nazis.

  • Ok so how does the combination work in the colossus?

  • The combination for Colossus is carved on the wall when Indy passes through the maze just before the Colossus (the one with many doors and lava pit)

  • Does anyone else feel that the last scene in "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull" was eerily similar to when either Indy, Sophia or Doctor Ubermann die?

  • They should've use this story for the 4th movie instead of the freakin' cristal skuls

  • I completely agree.

  • @luarionte yea and now it's too late because harrison ford is old

  • Your opinion is actually the opinion of minority :-) But that doesn't make it invalid or wrong because in this case it's a matter of personal taste.

  • This is without doubt one of the greatest adventure games of all time. It's worth playing for the plot alone, which is actually better than any of the classic Indy movies.

  • main kott how beautiful hahha fuck!

  • ooollldddschoooolll

  • All you kids these days will never know how great we had it back in the 90's... these games were so epic, so entrancing, and so involving. Its like reading an amazing novel or something! :)

Damn nazis always bite off more than they can chew... !!!

  • From my point of view it's actually more than reading a good book - it's like being part of it.

  • Yeah i was born in 1989 so clearly i wasn't clever enough to play these games but damn i wish i was. I used to watch my brother play them on the amiga (Simon the Sorcerer, Monkey Island etc) completed all the monkey islands ( in progress of the tales series now), i still need to get round to this.

  • @nelson3300 I couldn't have said it better myself! This is one of the games I remember the most growing up in the 90's.

  • @nelson3300 People like you an I say such things often, but that always seems to be the case with the older folk. I've started to realize that while the quality of games has surely waned, Part of why we enjoyed those games was because WE were young when WE played those games. I play this now and although there's a tinge of nostalgia, it just doesn't have the magic any more. That is, until I smoke some weed. And then I'm like a kid again.

  • @MJimiD Yeah but we experienced like the entirety of console/modern PC evolutioion. I'm only 25, not far out of college, not far out of high school... And I never really stopped burning :D But these games were about problem solving. You could literally get stuck for days, months, years unless you had the game manual. It was like decoding an epic interactive puzzle !

Well back in mey day, warble warble warble! go watch the latest episode of South Park :) peace brah

  • @nelson3300 dude, i finished the game my first time when i was 13, soooo....

  • @marnix96 and how long ago was that?

  • Just torrented this, but when I try to run the .exe a command prompt comes up reading, "Can't open monster.sou" Any advice

  • @MJimiD run it with "scummvm" Scumm Virtual Manager (or something like that) I'd like to think the torrent included it? I'm sure you can find it somewhere. I didnt have any problems installing way back 2 years ago using that program. Cheers

  • @MJimiD have you checked if you have the monster.sou or the monster.sog file? or if you even have either one? if you don't, i have the original files, too.

  • that looks like gameboy

  • what console was this on?

  • PC and Mac

  • it's also on the wii as a bonus feature on the staff of kings

  • This is a PC "talkie" version

  • You know what I love? Even in his last moments, when all was lost, he had been twisted into some hideous creature and he could not even muster the will to keep living...

Kerner was still considerate enough to scream "no" instead of "nein" for the benefit of the English speakers present at his death. My friends, Klaus Kerner may have been a lot of things, but inconsiderate was not one of them. For that, I applaud him.

  • Lol, what an analysis. But regarding the no/nein, in case you're familiar with German language you'd notice that Kerner's English is much less German-like than Ubermann's. It's most noticeable in how he pronounces Ubermann's name - he uses English pronounciation instead of German. Ubermann's voiceover sounds much more like a real German would speak English (most noticeably in the line "UND it glitters like gold").

  • @mikosoft

Whereas the name "Ubermann" clearly speaks for itself.

  • You're not old enough to see the awesome thing in this game.

  • What!? I didn't know this game had voices! I used to play it for hours on end when I was a kid. Were there different versions? I played on DOS, and I had Day of the Tentacle as well, which DID have voices working

  • Most (all?) LucasArts games came with different versions, the first Monkey Island has like 5 different versions, with only the CD version having voices. It seems you played an older version, maybe EGA.

  • whe i play this game, i can't listen the music with Wix Xp... -.-" what can i make?.. tnx for this videos!

  • w00000t. This brings back memories. Thanks.

  • 0:32 It IS The Shining theme!

  • WOW...dude i never noticed that...good catch.

  • wow. really!!!

  • What I've found out at mixmojo that it's a variation on Dies Irae, an old gregorian psalm. You can find the melody on Youtube, it really is THE melody.

  • Yeah I knew that it was an old song not specifically made for The Shining.

    Thanks for the info!

  • Also thank YOU for pointing it out.

  • hey did you speak the dialogues? i can't remember in any real speaking in this game just text^^

  • Nope. A year after the original they issued a CD-ROM version with full voiceovers.

  • woooooooooooooooooooooow :D well that's pretty good cause it really sucked when you had to read "*sigh*" or "(uh-oh)" xDD i love this game.

  • oh mein gott!

in dem ami-spielen sind immer nur so kurze deutsche sätze drin die wirklich jeder versteht. :)

  • Kerner sagt "Ubermann" falsch :-D "Ze stupid Amerikaner" konnen die Deutsche namen nicht sagen :D

  • Why did Grotesque Kerner, dive into the lava...

Like did he immediately thought his life was over?

  • hehehehehe "vee heaff veys to make you tawk"... Nazispeak is so funny... LOL

  • "Here goes!" Wow, a cliffhanger! I'm watching the second part right now! Thanks for the video, folk!

I'd have liked subtitles too. By the way, what's the "epilogue" that appears in the game over screen? I've heard there's one.

  • There is none. What you see in the second part is the complete ending with LucasArts logo the last image to appear.

  • Thanks, mikosoft.

  • where can I get this game man??!! I really want to get a copy!!!!!!

  • Yeah and it looks like the new movie "Journey to the Center of the Earth" is going to take this story and make a movie on it, who knows it may be similar to this.

  • well the new movie was ok but the original is better but the new ones garphics look good. if they combined the graphics with the new adventures. it would be a kickass movie.

  • I had the version with the voices, but i could never play with them... but now i see that i didn't miss much :p

I also hated every single one of those STONE PUZZLES...i remember i spend hours to find the right combination

  • You know, the puzzles can be solved in seconds using the lost Dialogue. I played the whole Team path today (with hints for viewers - the stone puzzles for example) and recorded it. I'm cutting it to 10 minute segments and I'll try to upload it.

  • Wasn't that the whole POINT of the Lost Dialogue? xD;

  • Not quite. The tenfold error also played central role in the final dialogue between Indy, Kerner and Ubermann and there were also hints for other parts of the game (e.g. answer to Alain Trottier's questions).

  • I loved this game. but I think the voiceovers are way too silly compared to the ingame feel.

  • The graphic novel (A four part comic book series) was actually based on this computer game. The game was in development at the time the comic books came out. The first comic book has a short article by Hal Barwood (One of the designers of Fate of Atlantis) explaining how the Fate of Atlantis game was being developed and that the main story for the Fate of Atlantis game was adapted for the comic books.

  • I really want 2 play it again.. was the best game ever in the da 90's for PC"

  • Best Game ever

  • I never quite understood this part...

I didn't get how the machine could turn them into GODS. But now, seeing as how they used oricalcum as an energy source and it is more powerful than uranium and given the fact that the amount of energy it would take to convert energy and matter (create higher life forms) would be the equivalent of nine atomic bombs, it makes a little more sense. lol

  • I think that the "God Machine" never actually worked, as far as making people into "gods". The Atlanteans wanted to make themselves into gods, but the machine never worked as they wanted, instead the machine would just create freaks of nature.

  • @sammymarlo This is also the reason for the fall of Atlantis - greedy rulers and the implied deteoriation of society - same thing was the main reason for the fall of Rome. It's all only hinted in the game but it can be read between the lines of the story itself. It feels quite out of this world in Atlantean setting but it is also so very real - greed is a part of each one of us. That makes this story quite unique among many games that it not only has a good plot but also a strong central idea.

  • i just played it again.... about to play dig and day of the tent as we speak

  • This was the first PC game what I ever had, so nostalgic but I actually never completed the game

  • This was too my first PC game ^^ It's special

  • I love this game so much. I need to replay it when I have time.

  • i really wish they had made a fate of atlantis movie. if only to see that incredibly designed colossus tower.

  • Yeah, I've said before that the only bad thing about this game is that there was no movie to accompany it.

  • I know, I wish. It is kind of sad there this isn't on the big screen.

  • True.

  • seriously, if they cut off Shortround for a kid named Mutt...thats stupid.

  • Yeah and it looks like the new movie "Journey to the Center of the Earth" is going to take this story and make a movie on it, who knows it may be similar to this.

  • umm.. "Journey to the Center of the Earth" was a book by Jules Verne written in 1864..It's been adapted to stage, film and TV several times already. There's even a theme park ride.. I don't think they got the idea from this video game ;)

  • You need to read carefully next time and see the part that says, "Who knows it may be similar to this." :)

The story is just based on Atlantis, READ, THANKS.

  • oh come on!! I get NEGS for stating my honest opinion?! The new movie did suck.. worst of the four by far. George Lucas is so good at making shit sequels to a classic trilogy. At least Del Toro and Peter Jackson know how to make good movies... and Spielberg put his name on that turd of a movie called "Transformers" ? He's been hanging out with Lucas too lost...

  • Reply to brandon9271:

Well, you said "The new movie sucked", not "I think that the new movie sucked". You stated it as a fact, not as an opinion.

You think that Del Toro is a good director? Thanks for not discriminating him because he's Mexican! :) :) :)

  • Notice how the music is identical to the Shining's. I love this game.

  • where can you download this game for XP and have the sound work too?

  • Use ScummVM to have audio.

  • i never beat day of the tentacle. I got to the part where your back in time with ben franklin.

  • oohhh shit watch out. good memories!!

  • Hello there! Can anyone tell me how to set sound in XP? I have a CD version. Thank you!

  • As said, use DOSBox or ScummVM, both are free and can be found on the internet.

  • Many thanks!

  • this game is absolutely incredible.. even though i can't get the voices to work, it still plays on my computer.. my dad owned it, and he gave it to me, and i've gone through it several times.. i never get tired of playing it though; a true classic

  • lol. that german scientist souds like a chipmunk!

  • You mean "that German scientist sounds like a German".

  • One of the greatest games ever made. I rather play this again then almost anything out today.

You got to love how they made the Mr. Burns like scientist guy sound so obviously German. "Mein Gott, how beautiful!"

  • I so agree with you. This game brings back all sorts of really good memories of my childhood. Where I can I buy this game?

  • Doctor Ubermann must be related to Doctor Fred.

  • You mean the fred videos?

  • No, Doctor Fred from "Maniac Mansion" and "Day of the tentacle"

  • Kerners death is quite creepy.

  • Doctor Ubermann's death is even more creepy...

  • Indiana Jones will bitch-slap Laura Croft!!!!!

  • Yeah even Lara Croft movies copiied indiana jones in many ways, but when i thing about greatest adventure movies Lara Croft is not even there, and Indy is easily first!!!!!

  • subtitles would have been nice, btw I hate the doctor's voice

  • I didn't include the subtitles to make it more cinematic.

  • At 00:29 you can hear the music from Stanley Kubrick's THE SHINING! It's from the opening titles!

  • Actually this tune is all around. It's somehow death-related since everywhere i hear it death is involved (especially in the Necropolis in Heroes of Might and Magic 3). After a long search i found the original tune - some classic, but it had one of those complicated names and i've now forgotten it. Damn sweet 'death' tune though

  • Yes, the original piece comes from Hector Berlioz' symphonie fantastique (5th movement) aka "Songe d'une nuit du Sabbat" and the godMachine cue themes starts +/- from 3:16 until 4:44 or so (with a reprisde starting from 7:50 to 8:20)

  • never heard the voices =))

    thanks a lot =)

  • Thank you man, I played this game about in 2002 or 2003 (I couldn't understand half of dialogues and needed walkthrough), but it was without voice actors and with beeper sounds (I had veeery uncooperative soundcard back then), it is nice to see it again, and with dialogues!

  • I use ScummVM for playing the Lucasarts games

and the WinGroove MIDI program for the best

music by setting ScummVM's sound to use the

Windows MIDI setting and you don't need to

install the game's CD-Rom just tell ScummVM

where the CD-Rom is located and game folder.

  • I just played this a month ago and beat it in 2 weeks. It was fun!

  • There were many endings, really. If you didn't destroy the necklace, Sophia dies (I think). If you don't rescue Sophia, she dies. Then when Kerner and Ubermann do the Orichalcum test, if one doesn't convince Ubermann to do it on himself, Indy is forced into the lava and dies.

  • I found out about the ending where sophia dies just months ago, after giving the game another playthrough. Even after all these years, this game never ceases to surprise me!

  • How were you able to capture the game play in video format?

I would love to capture parts of this great game.

  • I used DOSBox, it has ability to capture video (with sound) of anything that's running within it.

  • Thanks.

    You did a wonderful job.

  • Werent there 3 or so different endings?

  • just 2.

  • I suggest you play all three paths, fist, wits and team. I won't spoil anything but each one has its own quirks that make it worth while. This game was so great, the music, sprite and background detail... i might jsut reinstall it and play through again >: )

Also.. you still have a lot of the items... did you use them and retrieve them [not sure if this is possible] or just never get to use them?

This game.. wow it influenced my mind as a boy so much.

  • Many of those items were retrieved (cup, machine parts, ladder, etc.) - I kinda prefer to have everything available, because you never know when you're gonna need it (actually I knew, but picked everything anyway). I agree about that detail, I still can't believe they've drawn it all by hand. And I will play the two other paths for sure!

  • Great video! Fate of Atlantis is my favorite game of the 1990s, and Lucas Arts' greatest achievement, even topping Sam & Max. Great to see another enthusiast. Were you ever able to beat Arnold in the Crete Labyrinth? That was the one IQ point I could never get.

  • Thanks. I agree the game is among the very best ever made. I actually never took the Fists path. After I finish Masters Degree I might try to complete the game the other two paths.
