Mormontology: the belief that the 'advanced technology' of your magic underwear will protect you, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, and your spaceship from the second coming of Xenu.
Yeah, well there are no good aspects of religion that cannot be achieved by secular means. For example, Unicef and Medecins Sans Frontiers are both secular charity organizations.
While there are many religious charities out there that do genuine charity, a lot of them seem to just sell religion to desperate people (there is a children's home in the Philippines that takes in street children and raises them in accordance with the values of the Gospel). It's kinda sick, really.
Bill maher isn't atheist, nor is he agnostic. He's apatheistic, it's pretty much a form of being agnostic. In fact, he hates atheism as much as religion.
Ignore Razlo he/she is obviously a child "I'm not going to come back here" (except for when im posting this reply mutiple times) See im not ignorant or low functioning, I just mocked you without using religion! Incredible isn't it?
I can't be bothered to keep coming back here & repeating the same damn arguments to willfully ignorant, low functioning atheists who have already made up their minds that any & every "ANYTHING BUT GOD" theory must be true & to hell with all evidence & scientific professionals that insist otherwise.
My time would be much more fruitfully spent furthering the cause of men's rights. If you want the arguments, refer to my previous comments.
this guy is a moron! he has a right to have his own opinion and i can understand that he has to make his points catchy and easy to understand, but i think that is no reason to inform himself that poorly and give into his biased thoughts. i guess he is well aware that the vast majority of his audience does not check the facts after they heard him talk, so it is very careless to first only take the arguments, which fit his side best, and over simplify very complex psychology. lack of intellect...
Bill, ATHEISM does not mean "HERESY" at all. SPIRITUAL-RELIGIONS like Buddhism, Scn, Masonry, Illuminatta, Hinduism, etc, are ATHEIST! Thus, if you are a NON-RELIGIOUS guy you are actually a MATERIALIST. In other words, if I am a SPIRITUALISTIC and you a MATERIALISTIC, we both are ATHEISTS!!! Got it? SPIRITUALISM means that SPIRITS are never created nor destroyed because they´re NOT PHYSICAL ENTITIES, thus they do not require of a god to exist! Let´s define our vocabulary to avoid b.s. & wars!
@Razlo5000: BTW by your standards I can say that Lord Krishna is too far beyond your comprehension. Or Lord Buddha is too far beyond your comprehension. Or Zeus is too far beyond your comprehension. You are letting your immature Christian mindset to take over logic. Even a child knows that the GOD of the Bible doesn't exist before their mind is washed up.
Well, a creator of the Universe & all life within would obviously be FAR beyond the comprehension of imperfect mortal human beings. That includes the Christian God, Lord Krishna, Lord Buddha, Zeus, or whatever.
What, did you think I believe only MY god was incomprehensible?
This is telling of just how low functioning you really are. "immature"?! "Illogical"?! HA, idiot!
Children are ignorant of many things you dumbass. Many top scientists say God obviously exists. What else ya' got?
Well my honest answer to that would be none of the above. Perhaps you're jumping the gun & assuming me to be some bible thumper. This is not the case.
I am Christian, but I do not push Christianity on anyone.
All I am arguing here is creationist theory over atheistic theory from a scientific perspective (which is VERY easy to do). Even if you concede to creationism, who you choose to worship isn't any of my business.
@Razlo5000 Give me your explanation of the tower of Babylon story. Or have u even read the bible cover to cover? 90% of Christians I have met haven't. Those who have either become athiests or appologetic con-mans. So, are u one of the gullibles or one of the cons?
Razlo5000: Give me your explanation of the tower of Babylon story. Or have u even read the bible cover to cover? 90% of Christians I have met haven't. Those who have either become athiests or appologetic con-mans. So, are u one of the gullibles or one of the cons?
@Razlo5000: Oh wait! Why would he want us to prosper in knowledge? Coz otherwise we'd build a tower, reach him in the skies and kick his ass. So, may be he has to confuse our language once more to set the civilization back a thousand years.(Adapted from the Tower of Babylon story) Sounds perfectly plausible to me. Explains the origin of language too although the linguists say language evolved. But they are just lying, Coz what GOD says is always ryt. He's so good and I'm his puppet.
You're letting your shallow, immature atheistic preferences overtake your logic.
God does indeed want us to prosper in knowledge. But to better know his glory & infinite splendor. Not to fashion weak & pathetic arguments against him.
You can't get into God's head. Even if I were to say it would be like an Ant trying to get into Einstein's head it would be a totally insufficient analogy.
The creator of all things, is TOTALLY beyond our comprehension. You're not kicking anybody's ass.
@Razlo5000: Ok. Let's just say that all this was created by a selfish jealous GOD who has no knowledge of the basic laws of Physics( coz if the GOD of the bible created the universe, he'd mention at least one basic universal constant in the book like the gravitational constant) or knowledge of biology(there is no mention of how the living body works. That's why all diseases were thought as GOD's curse). How plausible, ryt?
The bible is not a text book. It has many purposes but helping to further man's imperfect (& pathetic) attempts at understanding how exactly the universe works is not one of them. Our time here on earth is not measured by how well we do on an afterlife science exam. We are judged by our actions & how we serve God. Love thy neighbor & the the golden rule (for example) are infinitely more important lessons than any universal constants.
@mafiaromanian I can see you're smart, but how can you believe that your family and culture didn't influence your religious beliefs? Doesn't that have a central part in what you choose to believe? Since you don't reject any other religions -I take it- does it really matter what you believe? Will you ask yourself why you'd rather believe than not believe, and answer honestly that it's the way you've been enculturated since you first learned to speak? Can you see your religion in the context
@mafiaromanian great answer, I think that's very honest. Several questions. What form of Christianity allows for other deities like Zeus? If there's a place (in heaven) for Muslims and Jews, is there also a place for atheists? Does Christianity give you CORRECT answers? How can you verify?

@mafiaromanian People throughout the ages have felt their own human spirit and have mistaken it for something external and called it god. Then come all the fables. Then comes the insistence that everyone think the same way. Over and over humans have made up god. We can just look at what's actually there. That process is called science. If we deal only with reality, we can all stop fighting. Wake up!
@mafiaromanian Isn't it true that thyou're a Christian is because Christianity is your parents religion. Isn't it true that your family is Christian because it's the predominant religion where you live or were brought up? How naive is that? Mahr and other progressive thinkers ask questions like these and then answer them honestly.
@mafiaromanian. We can all think about how the world was made and how humans were brought about, but the scientific shit is the only stuff that's rational, verifiable and sensible. If you're a Christian, you reject Zeus, Buddah, and golden calfs. Atheists just go one further. I'm an agnostic but I have changed my mind on the matter many times because I'm open to new ideas and interested in learning about my humanity and the universe. Isn't it just possible that people who lived thousands of
@beautyinbreakdowns2 actually i dont reject zeus or buddah i believe they have existed too, and i dont think jewish people or muslims will go to hell either i personally think that there is a place for them too. And yes your right that my parents and everyone around me is christian but they didnt influence me, i believe in what i want to- If you all believe in science thats great i just cant accept that. The bible and christianty just gives me answers, i d rather believe in god than not believe
i cant believe that this guy doesnt believe in anything..how can you not believe in god or jesus...he needs to stop and think about how the world was made and how humans were brought about, and he better not give me scientific shit. Im just a simple christian im not religion crazy but seriously how naive can you be to believe that god or something divine dosent exist??? no a fense to anyone this is just my opinion.
@mafiaromanian it's ok we can't all be resonable, logical well educated human beings some of us have to be dumb sheep, i don't hate you for it, have a nice day ; >
@pimpymcdougall look at everything he sayd he blame religion 4 everything wrong in the world the truth is there should be a balance no religious leader or scientist or poletician should have all the power look at what happen in ww2 Unit 731 Nazi experiments all done on people by scientist with so much power no one question them but all of the sudden science is right and everyone also is wrong A group of atheist filed a law suit to prevent the world Trade Center Cross from being displayed why
it's funny how people forgets that it was science that develop the Nuclear Bomb , biological weapons of mass distruction and pretty much everyother weapon known to human kind.
As for funny - he just ain't got it. Robin Williams, Jim Jefferies, George Carlin: Funny. Maher: A sneering, sarcastic, humourless, egotistical jewish/atheist asshole.
Don't forget cowardly. Its easy to make a living ridiculing & insulting Christians in this PC gone mad western culture. Here this crap is subsidized by cultural marxism which deems any bigotry towards whites, christians, & males to be acceptable. Even praise worthy.
Lets see this weak & pathetic COWARD ridicule & insult Muslims in Islamabad. You could probably count on one hand the seconds it would take for this SPINELESS PUSSY to run to the american embassy.
Damn right it is! I insult, but I'm not calling for the killing or silencing of anybody.
If I had the power to silence or kill my enemies, I wouldn't. Can militant atheists say the same? I wouldn't silence my enemies because I don't fear ANYTHING they say. As you & Bill Maher prove, our enemies are weak & pathetic intellectually inept cowards. They are totally non-argumentative mental midgets. I say, LET THEM COME! When we ride out & meet you, you crumbles like paper tigers. BRING IT!
@Razlo5000 WTF? When have you proved gods exist? As long as theists don't honour their burden of proof, atheism and skepticism is the only rational belief to hold. The rest is wishful thinking.
The proof is on our side. I've sited many scientific experts who have peered into their microscopes & concluded God is clearly in the details. This universe SCREAMS that it was created & fine tuned. The gravitational constant is 1 in a trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion. If it was ONE point larger or smaller, you couldn't have a universe that can support life. Coincidence I guess...
You'd have to have A LOT more faith to believe the universe WASN'T created.
@Razlo5000 You haven't cited nobody, so far. The fact that a scientist looks at a microscope and goes "oh, that must be god" doesn't constitute proof: In fact, it's not even evidence, it's just an opinion. And opinions prove absolutely nothing.
Life is a function of the universe, not the other way around. If the gravitational constant was different, another form of life would evolve that accords to that system and not to ours.
Saying I haven't sited anybody so far is like me saying you don't have a you tube account. Literally. Your statement is THAT DUMB.
The evidence is there you moron. This IS a created universe. Scientists (unbiased ones that is) are simply noticing the obvious; that a watch has a craftsman.
Idiot, if the grav. constant was ONE degree more or less, we wouldn't have ANY LIFE AT ALL. That is from Stephen fucking Hawking.
@Razlo5000 Why are you comparing nature with man-made artifacts? You see a man-made watch, you'll conclude a man made it because you know watches don't form naturally.
You see nature, and you conclude something created it. Why? Why do you make that illogical leap?
Probability? Do you think the gravitational constant was shuffled? And btw, if the constant was different life AS WE KNOW IT couldn't exist. That doesn't mean life couldn't exist.
Because I'm giving you an analogy to ignore along with all the facts & testimonials I've provided.
We see a planet unlike any other in which an infinite number of variables come together w/ incomprehensible precision & accuracy to allow for other incomprehensibly precise elements to exist.
We see the evidence of a creators hand.
You see a unexplainable coincidence in which a creator CANNOT & MUST NOT be the answer. PERIOD. FULL STOP. THATS the illogical leap.
I shuffle some cards. I draw, and get all 4 aces in a row. Does that mean a miracle just ocurred?
You're saying that in a galaxy with 400 billion suns and even more planets... One of them has favourable conditions for life... in some of its surface... some of the time. And you call that a supernatural miracle.
I'm guessing your grasp on probability theory is quite low, also.
We aren't talking about cards here. Even if you drew 4 aces in a row a trillion trillion trillion trillion times in a row (shuffling every time) your analogy would still fail. We cannot even comprehend these variables. You proved my point.
We see the evidence of a creators hand.
You see a unexplainable coincidence in which a creator CANNOT & MUST NOT be the answer. PERIOD. FULL STOP.
Why? Well because that has implications you're not ready or willing to acknowledge.
@Razlo5000 Where do you draw the line between improbability and a miracle? You say we cannot comprehend these variables, yet you assert life must mean a supernatural miracle? You contradict yourself.... as do all theists.
I'm willing to accept a creator if the evidence points to it. But if your best evidence is "well, life seems improbable to me, therefore god" I'm sorry, you've already failed.
BTW, the precursors of ARN form spontaneously and with no human interaction. Oh yeah, it fails LOL
How is that a contradiction? The ancient greeks couldn't comprehend how plasma TVs work, but they would agree that they were obviously created. They wouldn't have to fully comprehend them to draw that conclusion.
The more pressing question is where do YOU draw the line between improbability & a miracle?
Some of most prominent scientists (such as Francis Crick) admit that the origin of life was a miracle. There can be no "miracles" in science.
@Razlo5000 Life can actually be comprehended, and no miracle is required for its origin, as abiogenesis experiments clearly point to. Miracle is a meaningless word: It describes a supernatural event, and so far no such event has been recorded. What Francis Crick says couldn't be more useless to your argument.
Who told you the expansion rate can be "tuned"? Perhaps the value it has depends on the nature of the universe, and we depend on it too, so...
No scientist in the world can create life from nothing. Some can manipulate living cells & fuck with them for different outcomes, but no scientist on this planet can take amino acids, or other "organic compounds", put them into a test tube & create even the most primitive single celled organisms. Even if you put a dead living cell in there (giving you EVERYTHING), life still does not emerge. Even if you concede EVERYTHING & MORE, abiogenesis fails.
@Razlo5000 Riiiiiiight so if 100 years of scientific inquiry can't create life from non-life when nature took 1 billion years, give or take, then abiogenesis never happened.
Aminoacids, life's code basic building block, form spontaneously in prebiotic conditions and without human intervention.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, magical sky-daddy creation sounds much more probable.
Nature didn't create life, God did. That is why we can't create life from nothing & that is why everything we know & continue to learn proves just how ridiculous & absurdly impossible such a concept really is. That is all abiogenesis is. It is not a solution to how life began without god, its only more proof that life COULDN'T have come into creation any other way.
Even if I grant you amino acids & more. MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE, you still can't create life.
@Razlo5000 Your distinction makes no sense. You're saying that because we can't create life from non-life, then abiogenesis never happened. Do black holes and quasars also not exist because we can't create them? Did the big bang never happened because we can't replicate it? It's stupid.
Lifeforms use the most common elements in nature, not specific ones. Cytosine and Uracil, two of the critical bases of ARN, form spontaneously in prebiotic conditions. OH SURE, that doesn't point to abiogenesis.
Abiogenesis is not a valid alternate explanation for the creation of life. It utterly fails. Totally. Abiogenesis suggests that life emerged from amino acids (or organic molecules) which formed.......somehow in primordial earth's atmosphere. MANY flaws & inexplainable aspects of this theory aside (which DESTROY this), you still need to actually create life from amino acids. We don't even know HOW to go from amino acids to even primitive single cell organisms. Its COMPLETELY impossible.
@Razlo5000 Again, the fact that we can't create life from non-life doesn't refute abiogenesis more than our inability to create universes refutes the big bang theory.
Aminoacids spontaneously form in prebiotic conditions. I've said this already, so you saying they formed "somehow" is either misleading or an excercise in willful ignorance.
Aminoacids form spontaneously. Phospholypids, the main structural componente of cell membranes, also forms spontaneously. The evidence points to abiogenesis.
If you make an assertion, you need to PROVE IT before I'm willing to accept it as an alternative to creationism. You don't have these scruples because you (& atheistic scientists) are all too ready & willing to adopt anything that supports the "ANYTHING BUT GOD" narrative.
"Aminoacids form in prebiotic conditions". I'll give you that. I'll give you that & more! MUCH MORE! You still can't create life from nothing & you don't even know how to.
@Razlo5000 Creationism is not an alternative, as it isn't derived from evidence but BEFORE it. A priori claims posited without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
I already explained why the fact that we can't create life doesn't refute abiogenesis, more than the fact that we can't inflate the spacetime fabric refutes the big bang theory.
Precursors for life form spontaneously. That points to abiogenesis.
But keep talking to yourself. That'll surely make reality go away :)
Ergo, we don't comprehend life because we can't create it from nothing. Science has NO explanation for how life originated naturally. That is why the creation of life is deemed to be a "miracle" by scientists like Francis Crick & why quotes like his are so damning to atheism. There CAN'T be miracles, right?
Nobody needs to tell you something is "tuned", you can see the evidence of it. Unless you chop it all up to one WILD ASTRONOMICAL coincidence after another, but I lack the FAITH for that.
Oh really? You saw a documentary that offered alternative theories to the origin of life? What a shocker. Well I guess you got me. Can't argue with that.
WRONG!
Somehow I doubt they brought on credible creationist scientists to counter their assertions & offer explanations of why these 5 different theories fail UTTERLY.
That would be counter to the atheistic agenda which CANNOT BE CHALLENGED. EVER! Because creationism MUST BE WRONG.
Standard. Its the same "ANYTHING BUT GOD" narrative.
@Razlo5000 Yes, there are explanations. What Francis Crick says from within his indoctrination couldn't be less to the point. It's evidence that matters, and there's none for creationism.
Life IS a wild astronomical coincidence. The fact that you're the product of it doesn't mean it's all special and tailored for you: It just means that no matter how improbable, the only scenario in which you can ponder these things is that in which you came to life. You're going into confirmational bias.
What other explanations? Your best ones fail miserably. Aside from being totally unprovable, your atheistic explanations are saturated with straw man's & unknowns. They fail. Utterly.
But of coarse anytime a scientist speaks out for theism, he is speaking from within his indoctrination & whenever a scientist speaks out against theism, he is a credible expert beyond scrutiny. Right?
Like I said, I lack the faith to chop everything up to "wild astronomical coincidences" & atheistic miracles.
@Razlo5000 Oh right, all abiogenesis hypotheses are based on strawmen arguments. Riiiiight, scientists use strawmen to form hypotheses. Makes sense, lol!
If a scientist speaks for theism, of course that's a result from indoctrination. The only case in which this wouldn't be true is in the case theism has any evidence or argument in its favour.
Abiogenesis IS full of strawmen. But even if you concede EVERY one of them it still fails because we still can't create life from nothing. That pathetic hypothesis is the best you got & yet you still wonder why someone would reject your atheism?! Instead of blaming "indoctrination", perhaps you should clue into the reality that we reject atheism because we refuse the "ANYTHING BUT GOD" narrative that you wish to make a part of science.
LOL, I'm not the one rambling on about it, you are.
"I could believe god exists. All I need is a solid argument in its favor."-HA! YEAH RIGHT!
I've just shot abiogenesis theory to shit & yet you still refer to it as a "well-established scientific theory"! That proves right there you believe only what you WANT to believe. Its well established if its "ANYTHING BUT GOD". That stubborn willful ignorance is your problem.
Clearly me refuting Abiogenesis. the Big bang, etc... won't help YOU!
@Razlo5000 Again: You claim god exists: Prove it. Even if all scientific theories ever written to date were wrong, you would still be on square one: Lacking proof for your god.
So, do you have any argument or evidence favouring the existence of your god? Or is it imaginary, as your defensive copouts suggest so far?
A lack of proof is not the issue, it is the atheists stubborn refusal to accept (or even tolerate) the idea of the existence of a God.
The gravitational constant (1 factor of an infinite # of others) is precise to 1 part in a trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion. Creationists (or impartial scientists) observe this & conclude that the universe appears to have been "fine tuned" by a creator.
Atheists (& dogmatic scientists) reject ALL theist theories & call this "a...coincidence".
@Razlo5000 Here we are! At last you have the decency to put up an argument. Wasn't that hard, was it?
How can you claim such constant was tuned? How do you propose the constant is/was a variable... and not a constant? How do you know life couldn't arise with a different constant? How can you say the constant is fine-tuned, if life corresponds to .00000000117% of the mass of the earth?
Look up fine-tuning argument counter-arguments on ironchariots. It's not sound.
@Razlo5000 Oh sure. The first time you post an argument and I refute it... you suddenly "don't have time" to answer. Riiiiiiiiiight, keep up deluding yourself.
When you got some other evidence or argument in favour of your assertion, let me know. Until then, you're just blindly asserting you're right just because you say so. Who's made up their mind here?
I can't be bothered to keep coming back here & repeating the same damn arguments to willfully ignorant, low functioning atheists who have already made up their minds that any & every "ANYTHING BUT GOD" theory must be true & to hell with all evidence & scientific professionals that insist otherwise.

@Razlo5000 If you present a reaaaally old and already debunked argument such as the fine-tuning one... You're bound to lose.
When I present to you 5 perfectly valid questions that show its inconsistency and invalidity, you run away and claim to "don't want to waste your time".
@Razlo5000 So let me get this straight. You are arguing that Abiogenesis, which in your pathetic explanation is the universe being created from nothing, and simultaneously arguing that your god (who was created out of nothing) is the better answer to the question, how did the universe begin? Look up Abiogenesis, especially the research that looks into what scientists call a "Singularity." Seriously, try and understand what it is you are "refuting."
Abiogenesis is the next "piece" of a puzzle which atheists use to refute any & all notions of the existence of God. You're right in that this IS pathetic, but it isn't MY theory.
Abiogenesis is a failed & utterly ridiculous theory. To date scientists STILL cannot create life from amino acids, nor can they explain how such a thing is even possible. Top scientific minds even liken such a theory to a physicist doing an experiment to dropping a rock & expecting it to fall all the way to the moon.
@Razlo5000 Again, you argue that the universe is too complex to have come from nothing, but God, who is more complex than the universe, came from nothing. What was that you were saying about a glaring contradiction?
I can't be bothered to keep coming back here & repeating the same damn arguments to willfully ignorant, low functioning atheists who have already made up their minds that any & every "ANYTHING BUT GOD" theory must be true & to hell with all evidence & scientific professionals that insist otherwise.

@Razlo5000 so, you have no facts, but blabber a lot to make it seem like you do. good job, you're in good company with all other superstitious morons. By the way, Santa Claus isn't real either.

@Razlo5000 oh my, he entered a loop of dumbfuckery. happens, when you stop using logic and cling to "faith" (faith=believing something without knowing if it exists or is true).

In addition, the "universe from God" theory is a HELL of a lot more credible than the "Universe from nothing theory". I lack the faith for the latter theory in the same way you lack the unbiased open-mindedness to even tolerate the former theory.
If the universe WAS created, this would explain why an infinite # of variables seem "fine tuned".
If God doesn't exist, you must chop up everything to wild, ASTRONOMICAL coincidences & ignore glaring contradictions such as the Cambrian explosion.

Your replies are as tedious and predictable as your arguments.
I feel sorry for the men's rights groups...you will probably argue that man have bigger brains, or something as equally antiquitated as your god reasonings.
Please feel free to fuck yourself, you are an utter gobshite.

"Take the expansion rate of the universe, which is fine tuned to 1 part in a trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion. That is, if it were changed by 1 part in either direction-a little faster, a little slower-we could not have a universe that would be capable of supporting life,"-Stephen C. Meyer,PHD
So, you're telling me this was just a coincidence, right? A miracle?
"Even with all of the components present, you can't make a living cell. There is no point in even trying. It would be like a physicist doing an experiment to see if he can get a rock to fall upwards all the way to the moon. No biologist in his right mind would think you can take a test tube with those molecules and turn them into a living cell."-Jonathan Wells, PHD,PHD
NOT! If that were so it would be FRONT PAGE NEWS- "There is a God!...and its name is Gozumackythakadalmasdertilousyarlygertfusgusshozmathack!- Praise it's Hologramnous name!"
This guy is a cunt. And it's nothing to do with him being an "atheist" coz I agree with him on this BUT he's an ATHEIST JEW and he is obscuring this with his attack on the Christian belief. The jews are all fricking atheists in reality but they're atheism is sick. In fact, it's satanistic and their whole Jew vs Goyim shit where they can use usury against the goyim but never between themselves. Maher is a piece of lying jewish/atheist shit. But then they all are.
We will not achieve world peace or utopia simply by abolishing religion or communism or democracy or fascism or any other ideology people PERCEIVE to be "to blame for many/most/all" wrongs in the world. The things which are to blame are things we cannot control.
So long as imperfections remain inherent to humanity & everybody has an opinion, there will always be conflict. Thats it. Thats all there is to it. Get over it, move on & respect other people's right to their beliefs.
Really ignorant to put all religions together and bring up the terrible shit. Religion is like politics, sometimes there's good and sometimes there's bad
@thrasher90 We can agree on politics because of arguments, logic and evidence. Noone, though, can agree on anything religious by definition. Religion is therefore way more harmful than politics.
@carlosewm Really? But athiesm says there isn't a god and To be agnostic means you don't know if there is or not and that there is no way to ever know. It's like say No, definitely not. Then saying, But I dont know and never will. Thats contraditory isnt it?
There's no "athiesm", I don't know any therm such as "athiesm", it's atheism, and no, atheism isn't the belief that there is no God, it's the absence of a belief on whether there is or not.
It isn't contradictory when you know the correct meaning of the therm.
@carlosewm Yea, that is what I was asking. You didn't have to give off any major attitude for no reason. I was legit just asking for some clarity. I didn't claim to know more than you. Oh and: "Atheism: is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.[1] In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities" Perhaps next time you can try having a normal, polite conversation and not be such a dick. :(
@chmarisco I didn't have any "major attitude", or at least didn't intend to do so.
""Atheism: is, in a broad sense, the .....in a narrower sense....that there are no deities"
Well that is what Wikipedia says, but I don't see that as accurate at all, as it doesn't account the many types of atheism, such as strong atheism, skeptic atheism, atheism 3.0, anti-theism, agnostic atheism...
I'm sorry if I was rude but the misconception just pisses me off, i've seen it so many times.
You sound so epic, I can imagine you sitting on a throne, gesturing lazily with your manicured hands.
The first war was pretty much a great discharge of a very tense situation in Europa. Colonies, revolutions etc., Europe was a huge powder keg, the smallest spark made it explode.
The second world war was more about greed than the first. Germany wanted to annex land so that their race could live better. Hitler was a fanatic.
Religion, just as war/fighting about stuff is human instinct,yes
Assuming 1 theory is the end all be all & ridiculing & ostracizing those objective scientists who don`t play along with making all evidence fit accordingly is not what true science should be about. This is what evolution does.
Creationist scientists do not believe in God by default as many assume.
Creationist scientist are intelligent & objective enough to yield to the vast and stunning proof of God`s existance. They`ve seen the evidence of the craftsman`s mark. God in the details.
"Its becoming clearer & clearer that this is a materialistic philosophy masquerading as an empirical science. The attitude is that life HAD to have developed this way because there's no other materialistic explanation. If you so much as try to invoke another explanation-such as intelligent design-then the evolutionists claim you're not a scientist."-Jonathan Wells, PHD,PHD
Dogmatic Atheist dillusion is what holds us back as a species.
That "dumbass creationists" holds two PHDs you fucking idiot. Who the fuck are you?-Nobody. You're in no position to call anybody a dumbass you clueless numbskull.
You're late to the party. There are literally pages & pages of unanswered arguments your cowardly militant atheists buddies failed to answer.
Either respond intelligently to those arguments or get fucked you intellectual weakling.
@Razlo5000 Yh what subjects does he hold them in mate ohh and I'm guessing your a christian that was a very nice response you have just given me. There are no unanswered arguments go research evolution from credible sources then you'l find out how stupid you are these people only try and misrepresent evolution that's why it looks like there are unanswered questions. How am I cowardly for voicing my opinion? and mate your a creationist you and intelligence don't mix
shit you atheists can be fu*king stupid...i said bread as an example for stupid theory becouse any of your most intelligent people in the world CAN'T exaclly explain everything that religious people BELIEVE in...why do you use facts of their big IQ's to promote your own theorys..if you study some science you'll notice that as much as you go deeper you know much less..and that's the key where religion fitts the best...
bout the crusade!! you have no fcking idea who was in these armys
If you want a stupid theory, you have evolution. You don`t need to make one up.
Same argument for the evolutionary (aetheist) scienists. They can`t explain anything either & as you said, their attempts to do so only create more unansweable questions.
Meanwhile, the evidence of a creator`s touch multiplies exponentially.
Do you honestly think the many leading scientists I mentioned adopted creatinism without first observing substancial amounts of evidence?
"The miller experiment goes hand in hand with " WHAT?? 1st i don't think that simple organic molecules are making us human...you know that plenty of these molecules that are mentioned in this experiment are found in food..like bread or smth...so your point is know that we came FROM BREAD? I mean this is a silly explenation but if you follow this kind of theorys you can easily come to this conclusions...have faith dude..
Idiot, if you're going to say stupid shit.....well I guess you'll blend in perfectly with the other militant atheists on here. Did I say we came from bread?! No, so don't be fucking stupid (if you can help it).
I DON'T believe simple organic molecules make us human, but that was the scientific explanation for how life (all life) emerged naturally. In a nutshell the theory they were (& still are) pushing is:
For a while, RNA was heralded as the great solution to the origins of life but that theory fails as well. As Gerald Joyce (a biochemist at Scripps Research Institute) put it;
"You have to build straw man upon straw man to get to the point where RNA is a viable first biomolecule."
So what do you have to say in response to that you stupid fuck?
I can actually prove how ignorant you are, idiot. If you were really up to snuff on that which you claim to be a great big expert, you would know science abandoned abiogenesis as a theory for the origin of life long ago.
"...The problem of assembling the right parts in the right way at the right time & at the right place, while keeping out the wrong material, is simply insurmountable.
...I'm an experimentalist at heart. I'd want to see some evidence-& its just not there"
"Put a sterile, balanced salt solution in a test tube. Then put in a single living cell and poke a hole in it so that its contents leak into the solution. Now that test tube has all the molecules you would need to create a living cell, right? You would already have accomplished far more than than what the miller experiment ever could-you've got all the components you need for life.
The problem is you can't make a living cell. There's no point in even trying."
Even biochemist & spiritual skeptic Francis Crick, who shared the Nobel Prize for discovering the molecular structure of DNA, cautiously invoked that word when he said:
"An honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us now, could only state that in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle, so many are the conditions which would have had to have been satisfied to get it going."
The countries leading space journalist John Hogan, a self proclaimed "lapsed Catholic", conceded in 2002 that science has no idea how the universe was created or "how inanimate matter on our little planet coalesced into living creatures. Science you might say, has discovered that our existence is infinitely improbable, & hence a miracle"
Tell me dudesonman, how can there be "miracles" in science?
"I think people who believe that life emerged naturalistically need to have a great deal more faith than people who reasonably infer that there's an intelligent designer".
Walter Bradley, former professor at Texas A&M U. & co author of "The Mystery of Life's Origin", not only shares Gregg Easterbrook's view but said: "The mind boggling difficulties in bringing the yawning gap between non-life & life mean that there may very well be no potential of ever finding a theory for how life could have arisen spontaneously."
Thats why he's convinced: "absolutely overwhelming evidence" points towards an intelligence behind life's creation.
"Science doesn't have the slightest idea how life began. No generally accepted theory exists, and the steps leading from a barren primordial world to the fragile chemistry of life seem imponderable"
-Gregg Easterbrook about the origin's of life field
@Razlo5000 Do you even know what the Crusades were about? It was a bunch of christians trying to get their "holy land" back, so don't say religion had nothing to do with it. OR you can continue saying that, and further prove your ignorance:)

i'm an atheist, but you have to admit that Christians are responsible for most of the charity organizations, and the social gospel.
TripleA900 4 months ago
@TripleA900

@Razlo5000: Oh wait! Why would he want us to prosper in knowledge? Coz otherwise we'd build a tower, reach him in the skies and kick his ass. So, may be he has to confuse our language once more to set the civilization back a thousand years.(Adapted from the Tower of Babylon story) Sounds perfectly plausible to me. Explains the origin of language too although the linguists say language evolved. But they are just lying, Coz what GOD says is always ryt. He's so good and I'm his puppet.
Sakib241 6 months ago
@S
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000: Ok. Let's just say that all this was created by a selfish jealous GOD who has no knowledge of the basic laws of Physics( coz if the GOD of the bible created the universe, he'd mention at least one basic universal constant in the book like the gravitational constant) or knowledge of biology(there is no mention of how the living body works. That's why all diseases were thought as GOD's curse). How plausible, ryt?
Sakib241 6 months ago
@S
Not plausible.

@Razlo5000 WTF? When have you proved gods exist? As long as theists don't honour their burden of proof, atheism and skepticism is the only rational belief to hold. The rest is wishful thinking.
Murdulo 7 months ago 2
@M
Razlo5000 7 months ago
@Razlo5000 You haven't cited nobody, so far. The fact that a scientist looks at a microscope and goes "oh, that must be god" doesn't constitute proof: In fact, it's not even evidence, it's just an opinion. And opinions prove absolutely nothing.
Life is a function of the universe, not the other way around. If the gravitational constant was different, another form of life would evolve that accords to that system and not to ours.
Btw... Probabilities to prove god? Laaaaaaaaaame.
Murdulo 7 months ago
@Murdulo
Probability DISPROVES any atheistic theory.
How did life begin?
Razlo5000 7 months ago
@Razlo5000 Why are you comparing nature with man-made artifacts? You see a man-made watch, you'll conclude a man made it because you know watches don't form naturally.
You see nature, and you conclude something created it. Why? Why do you make that illogical leap?
Probability? Do you think the gravitational constant was shuffled? And btw, if the constant was different life AS WE KNOW IT couldn't exist. That doesn't mean life couldn't exist.
Are these your best arguments? Lame.
Murdulo 7 months ago
@Murdulo
How did life begin?
Razlo5000 7 months ago
@Razlo5000 Facts? Testimonials? Wtf?
Abiogenesis. Read about it, you dummy.
Murdulo 7 months ago
@M
Abiogenesis fails, dummy.
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Where do you draw the line between improbability and a miracle? You say we cannot comprehend these variables, yet you assert life must mean a supernatural miracle? You contradict yourself.... as do all theists.
I'm willing to accept a creator if the evidence points to it. But if your best evidence is "well, life seems improbable to me, therefore god" I'm sorry, you've already failed.
BTW, the precursors of ARN form spontaneously and with no human interaction. Oh yeah, it fails LOL
Murdulo 6 months ago
@M
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Life can actually be comprehended, and no miracle is required for its origin, as abiogenesis experiments clearly point to. Miracle is a meaningless word: It describes a supernatural event, and so far no such event has been recorded. What Francis Crick says couldn't be more useless to your argument.
Who told you the expansion rate can be "tuned"? Perhaps the value it has depends on the nature of the universe, and we depend on it too, so...
Wells says it's impossible so it is? Right.
Murdulo 6 months ago
@M
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Riiiiiiight so if 100 years of scientific inquiry can't create life from non-life when nature took 1 billion years, give or take, then abiogenesis never happened.
Aminoacids, life's code basic building block, form spontaneously in prebiotic conditions and without human intervention.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, magical sky-daddy creation sounds much more probable.
Murdulo 6 months ago
@M
"Magical sky-daddy" IS more probable.
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Your distinction makes no sense. You're saying that because we can't create life from non-life, then abiogenesis never happened. Do black holes and quasars also not exist because we can't create them? Did the big bang never happened because we can't replicate it? It's stupid.
Lifeforms use the most common elements in nature, not specific ones. Cytosine and Uracil, two of the critical bases of ARN, form spontaneously in prebiotic conditions. OH SURE, that doesn't point to abiogenesis.
Murdulo 6 months ago
@Murdulo
Razlo5000 6 months ago

Ergo, Abiogenesis fails. Utterly.
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Creationism is not an alternative, as it isn't derived from evidence but BEFORE it. A priori claims posited without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
I already explained why the fact that we can't create life doesn't refute abiogenesis, more than the fact that we can't inflate the spacetime fabric refutes the big bang theory.
Precursors for life form spontaneously. That points to abiogenesis.
But keep talking to yourself. That'll surely make reality go away :)
Murdulo 6 months ago
@M
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Science has NO explanation for how life originated naturally."
Thats strange, I just watch a doco that gave 5 different theories on how life could have originated on Earth all of them backed up by expirements
edanburg 6 months ago
@e
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Yes, there are explanations. What Francis Crick says from within his indoctrination couldn't be less to the point. It's evidence that matters, and there's none for creationism.
Life IS a wild astronomical coincidence. The fact that you're the product of it doesn't mean it's all special and tailored for you: It just means that no matter how improbable, the only scenario in which you can ponder these things is that in which you came to life. You're going into confirmational bias.
Murdulo 6 months ago
@M
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Oh right, all abiogenesis hypotheses are based on strawmen arguments. Riiiiight, scientists use strawmen to form hypotheses. Makes sense, lol!
If a scientist speaks for theism, of course that's a result from indoctrination. The only case in which this wouldn't be true is in the case theism has any evidence or argument in its favour.
Can you provide any of those two?
Murdulo 6 months ago
@M
I've already given evidence.
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Blah, blah, blah. Keep rambling on about abiogenesis.
You can't present absolutely nothing in favour of your imaginary friends, then you attack a well-established scientific theory.
I could believe god exists. All I need is evidence or a solid argument in its favour.
Can you, or can you not provide any of those?
(PROTIP: Refuting abiogenesis, the big bang or gravity won't help you)
Murdulo 6 months ago
@Meathead
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Again: You claim god exists: Prove it. Even if all scientific theories ever written to date were wrong, you would still be on square one: Lacking proof for your god.
So, do you have any argument or evidence favouring the existence of your god? Or is it imaginary, as your defensive copouts suggest so far?
Murdulo 6 months ago
@M
Razlo5000 6 months ago
@Razlo5000 Here we are! At last you have the decency to put up an argument. Wasn't that hard, was it?
How can you claim such constant was tuned? How do you propose the constant is/was a variable... and not a constant? How do you know life couldn't arise with a different constant? How can you say the constant is fine-tuned, if life corresponds to .00000000117% of the mass of the earth?
Look up fine-tuning argument counter-arguments on ironchariots. It's not sound.
Got anything else?

@Razlo5000 So let me get this straight. You are arguing that Abiogenesis, which in your pathetic explanation is the universe being created from nothing, and simultaneously arguing that your god (who was created out of nothing) is the better answer to the question, how did the universe begin? Look up Abiogenesis, especially the research that looks into what scientists call a "Singularity." Seriously, try and understand what it is you are "refuting."
MrY0ufail 6 months ago
@M

@chmarisco "athiesm says there isn't a god"
There's no "athiesm", I don't know any therm such as "athiesm", it's atheism, and no, atheism isn't the belief that there is no God, it's the absence of a belief on whether there is or not.
It isn't contradictory when you know the correct meaning of the therm.
carlosewm 8 months ago 2
@carlosewm Yea, that is what I was asking. You didn't have to give off any major attitude for no reason. I was legit just asking for some clarity. I didn't claim to know more than you. Oh and: "Atheism: is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.[1] In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities" Perhaps next time you can try having a normal, polite conversation and not be such a dick. :(
chmarisco 8 months ago
@chmarisco I didn't have any "major attitude", or at least didn't intend to do so.
""Atheism: is, in a broad sense, the .....in a narrower sense....that there are no deities"
Well that is what Wikipedia says, but I don't see that as accurate at all, as it doesn't account the many types of atheism, such as strong atheism, skeptic atheism, atheism 3.0, anti-theism, agnostic atheism...
I'm sorry if I was rude but the misconception just pisses me off, i've seen it so many times.
