Yeah. Steve Saleen takes the mustang and strips it down a bit (not completely). Adds on SMS parts (body, engine, and interior mods). The best way to look at Saleen or SMS is "before market". Whereas Roush is considered "aftermarket". Therefore, SMS is recognized as a manufacturer, not just a tuner. This also helps with resale value however, this economy is not reflecting the true values of the limited number Saleens or even the mass produced GT500's.
No, Ford does not have any association with Saleen due to the fact that Saleen is an Independant Company and is NOT owned by Ford, let alone Saleen is a Manufcture NOT Tuner.
There's enough changes to the cars(Mustangs) that merit the vehicles as Saleens OWN creation which makes the cars not to be called a Mustang.
Just like the German Manufacture Ruf is with Porches, which the Porches are no longer Porches after ALL the changes are done by Ruf.
Also, didn't you know that a FORD dealership cannot market, order, take delivery, sell, repair or perform scheduled maintenance on a Saleen product unless Saleen "certifies" the dealership first. A Ford dealership that wants to market, sell, etc. a Saleen product must

Im not familar with Saleen brand. So, Steve Saleen used to be a race car driver and later decides to make a company called Saleen Autosport. So is his company some how affiliated with FORD? Does Saleen take a stock mustang and basically modify it? Or do they build Saleen Mustangs from scratch? Does FORD get anything out of this? Why only FORDs?

saleens were always nice up untill 2004 and from then it just went straight to sh.. t when they started putting 20 inch rims and huge decklid spoilers on the 05 and up mustangs in my opinion. I mean they do have some cool features like nice seats and stuff but they just dont know what to do with the design of the front and rear bumpers so they just make holes in them without looking at the way its gonna look on the car.. , again just my .02
People give Carole Shelby WAY to much credit. Sure he was a pioneer back in the day, but now a days he's an old man. He signs his name off of any product from Ford labeling it "Shelby"...BIG DEAL! The economy is the reason for people selling to cheap. No car will hold 100% value, but Saleens and Roushs hold good value even when they are old. Look at the mid-90's Saleens and compare them to mid-90's Gt's. I love my Saleen so much that I won't be selling it anytime soon. Saleens and Roushs are also a lot more rare and numbered which helps hold the value over a heavily modded GT.
That's not correct. The VIN number gives you a discount on insurance because they run it as a GT, but resale on Saleen, Roush, and Shelby are way better then a GT.

Also, didn't you know that a FORD dealership cannot market, order, take delivery, sell, repair or perform scheduled maintenance on a Saleen product unless Saleen "certifies" the dealership first. A Ford dealership that wants to market, sell, etc. a Saleen product must
contact Saleen directly to begin the Certification process. It should be noted that Certification is not easy, it is very demanding for a dealership.
Not all Ford dealerships get certified.

Now I have to see who's suspension is better... I see no shame in dropping a Steeda engine for the horse', on a Roush suspension for the handling... maybe be even more cheeky and slap a Kenne Bell 'charger on it, ha ha.

i love my pinto, hear that lil 4 cylinder purrr damn baby,...it`ll do 0-60 in just under 16 sec. and will reach its top speed in 17 sec. awsome it wont even spin it just launches off like a fart in the wind. no need for an oil change we just packed it with axel grease to make it run quieter here at calhoon motorsports we take pride in what we build!

Im not familar with Saleen brand. So, Steve Saleen used to be a race car driver and later decides to make a company called Saleen Autosport. So is his company some how affiliated with FORD? Does Saleen take a stock mustang and basically modify it? Or do they build Saleen Mustangs from scratch? Does FORD get anything out of this? Why only FORDs?

Good point souj.... The death of saleen would be great, since thay decided to sell out by selling body kits and stickers so that stupid ass kids can put them on V6's and riced out GT's. Guys who have real Saleens must be pissed. I was sitting in my Cobra the other day and saw a rusted out 6 banger sitting at the light with snakes on the fenders and COBRA across the back bumper. saleens were always nice up untill 2004 and from then it just went straight to sh.. t when they started putting 20 inch rims and huge decklid spoilers on the 05 and up mustangs in my opinion. I mean they do have some cool features like nice seats and stuff but they just dont know what to do with the design of the front and rear bumpers so they just make holes in them without looking at the way its gonna look on the car.. , again just my .02

This car won't be built. Visit there website to check out what cars they have available for sale. I'd buy sooner than later, since Mr. Saleen left Saleen Inc. last year, I fear the company will turn to shit. But that's only my opinion, though I hope they continue to build nice Mustangs, because the 4,100lb Shelby's are pissing me off. Carroll Shelby knows more about racing than anyone, yet he allowed a 2 ton car to be produced in his name, 500+hp or not, 2 tons is sad, with a live axle yet..

Um, Obama just praised Ford, and his relationship with them, because Ford sold more cars to the government than GM and Crysler, and for less money.
Don't be surprised to see AWD, 3.7 liter twin turbo Fords as police cars in the next 5-7 years. Police need power, but economy as well, Fords ecoboost is the only answer, 365HP, 360 torque, and that's not even a amped up police model. So much for car chases, who will run from an AWD, ,3100lb TT car? Not even I, in my KB Cobra.

The economy is the reason for people selling to cheap. No car will hold 100% value, but Saleens and Roushs hold good value even when they are old. Look at the mid-90's Saleens and compare them to mid-90's Gt's. I love my Saleen so much that I won't be selling it anytime soon. Saleens and Roushs are also a lot more rare and numbered which helps hold the value over a heavily modded GT.

That's not correct. The VIN number gives you a discount on insurance because they run it as a GT, but resale on Saleen, Roush, and Shelby are way better then a GT.
