I've listened to the original. Personally, I find it to be nothing special. It didn't give me goosebumps or really make me feeling anything at all. Adam's voice has the ability to cause shivers up and down my spine no matter what he is singing. All in all, I prefer Adam's cover. Just saying...
Ok cool it was a great performance. The guy has a voice but it's still not Plant. Don't get me wrong I loved this cover of the song, but I can't stand the superlatives from the judges. "You are a rock GOD" what the hell was that all about? Furthermore YOU CANNOT IMPROVE a Led Zeppelin song IT IS ALREADY PERFECT.

You can probably blame me for Adam losing too. I voted thousands of times for Kris Allen. For one, Kris was my favorite that season, and for two, like Kara said, Adam's a rock god, and they would've made him their slave and there's something about enslaving a rock god that just doesn't work. Kinda a shame that he does more pop than rock, but even then he transcends most pop voices today. S8 produced my favorite winner AND my favorite runner-up (along with Scotty from S10 and Crystal from S9).
After Idol Adam turned out to be more popular, a LOT more popular than the other idols. Notice how the idols on Twitter talk to each other still except NOBODY talks to Adam anymore.(Allison still does, though..thank heaven!) Notice any jealousy? :)

Adam lost because majority of Americans hold conservative views towards gay people. I won't go as far as to say that Kris Allen is not worthy, he is very talented in the type of music he makes. Please don't take anything away from him. I'm a huge fan of Adam and like Adam said, 1st or 2nd doesn't matter, all he wanted was a platform to showcase his talents and a recording contract and he got them and look at where he is now, proving that he's not to be taken lightly.
Great performance with the blessing & permission of Led Zeppelin, 1st time they gave permission on Idol. Adam is Adam, his voice is uniquely his and supremely beautiful, whether singing songs from Brigadoon or Smokey Robinson or Tears for Fears, or songs from his own album from Muse or Gaga or Max Martin/Pink or his OWN songs Broken Open or Down the Rabbit Hole. His showmanship has been compared to others but his voice is unique.Gives goosebumps live-better than recorded (I've seen him 5 times).

@sirMerwinmom Don't give up! His tour in 2010 went all over the US, so if he tours with his new album Trespassing (coming out March 20th) we hope he'll do the same. Some of us had to drive a few hours, but he covered a LOT of the country -73 cities, with 2 nights in some of them. Worth the drive, for sure! And, yes, NASHVILLE too, at the Ryman on 7/7/10.

Great rock cred from Slash as well as judges. Queen also sees Adam's natural authenticity. He has no limitations. Adam is in a class by himself. He never should be put in a box and labeled. He's uniquely gifted in all genres with his stratospheric range, power and flawless professional training at his disposal. Artists nowadays make more money off of touring and he was first idol to headline a world tour on his first album. Something like 116 venues, 99% sold out. @hancar I hate that stereotype about the US. It's a HUGE country, some cities and states are very pro-gay, and some people who aren't in favor of gay marriage are not anti-gay, so please don't make blanket statements like that. The reason he didn't win is because pre-teen girls and 40+ women make up a huge voting demographic, and they always vote for the cutest (straight) guy. The past 4 winners have all been men who in my opinion weren't very good.

I voted for Kris Allen to win because Adam was already an Idol and Kris didn't have a chance of making it without the win. Kris hasn't been nearly as successful as Adam since then.

For those of you disappointed Adam didn't go all rock, I highly suggest you see him live because he puts a rock spin on some of his songs (rock wails, guitar), and does 1-2 rock covers. His voice fills the entire venue and his stage presence is amazing. He played at one of the biggest rock festivals in Moscow, alongside Korn. YT "Adam Lambert Sleepwalker Moscow" and "Adam Lambert Whole Lotta Love Moscow". And just to see his guy's versatility, YT "Adam Lambert Whole Lotta Love Fantasy Springs".
@TheLambertLover yeah wll on fantasy springs is the best I have seen anyone sing, I know people love the idol classic rock side of adam, but personally I actually prefer his pop stuff, its upbeat, it still has a scent of rock involved ala music again. And I just prefer it when he sings stripped down, then running around the stage, I think people need to get over this notion classic rock is the holy grail of music, because pop music is great and just as good.
@3ku1 Agree with you about everything. In fact, I have read in many places that pop is not a genre because it encompasses a lot of different genres. His album is so eclectic, it actually has what could be considered rock, especially if you go by who wrote these songs (Justin Hawkins, Muse, Weezer). Aftermath and Can't Let You Go are definitely rock. Anyway, have you seen him live yet? I went to 13 shows. I saw WLL Fantasy Springs live. Afterwards, we were all just in a daze. Unbelievable.

I think when casual fans see adams cover, hear his music they think oh he is the guy who wails, or sold out etc. And combined with his glam, campy image he hasent been taken seriousley. I've listened to the original. Personally, I find it to be nothing special. It didn't give me goosebumps or really make me feeling anything at all. Adam's voice has the ability to cause shivers up and down my spine no matter what he is singing. All in all, I prefer Adam's cover. Just saying...

You can probably blame me for Adam losing too. I voted thousands of times for Kris Allen. For one, Kris was my favorite that season, and for two, like Kara said, Adam's a rock god, and they would've made him their slave and there's something about enslaving a rock god that just doesn't work. Kinda a shame that he does more pop than rock, but even then he transcends most pop voices today. S8 produced my favorite winner AND my favorite runner-up (along with Scotty from S10 and Crystal from S9).

Adam lost because majority of Americans hold conservative views towards gay people. I won't go as far as to say that Kris Allen is not worthy, he is very talented in the type of music he makes. Please don't take anything away from him. Great performance with the blessing & permission of Led Zeppelin, 1st time they gave permission on Idol. Adam is Adam, his voice is uniquely his and supremely beautiful, whether singing songs from Brigadoon or Smokey Robinson or Tears for Fears, or songs from his own album from Muse or Gaga or Max Martin/Pink or his OWN songs Broken Open or Down the Rabbit Hole. His showmanship has been compared to others but his voice is unique.Gives goosebumps live-better than recorded (I've seen him 5 times).

@sirMerwinmom Don't give up! His tour in 2010 went all over the US, so if he tours with his new album Trespassing (coming out March 20th) we hope he'll do the same. Some of us had to drive a few hours, but he covered a LOT of the country -73 cities, with 2 nights in some of them. Worth the drive, for sure! And, yes, NASHVILLE too, at the Ryman on 7/7/10.

@hancar I hate that stereotype about the US. It's a HUGE country, some cities and states are very pro-gay, and some people who aren't in favor of gay marriage are not anti-gay, so please don't make blanket statements like that. The reason he didn't win is because pre-teen girls and 40+ women make up a huge voting demographic, and they always vote for the cutest (straight) guy. The past 4 winners have all been men who in my opinion weren't very good.

oh by the way his performance with queen imo was the vocal performance of the decade, im not going to go into the specefic too much vibarto too little, over sang their, was sharp their bla bla bla haha. His vocals were huge, it literally filled the arena, what he did their was proved he is the next michael jackson combined with elvis and freddie. But I think ppl always limit him to other artists, he needs to be himself. His stage presense is unprecedented in this modern era.

@hancar It doesn't matter that he didn't win. He was always meant to be a star because he has raw, natural talent. I voted for Adam the entire season until the finale. I voted for Kris Allen to win because Adam was already an Idol and Kris didn't have a chance of making it without the win. Kris hasn't been nearly as successful as Adam since then.

@hancar exactly!!! It's amazing how they can judge someone based on their sexuality when it is SO obvious he was the real winner, like from day 1. I'm from Denmark and I think it was last year a lesbian girl won x-factor :) and no one was judging her based on anything other than her vocal abilities and performing. For those of you disappointed Adam didn't go all rock, I highly suggest you see him live because he puts a rock spin on some of his songs (rock wails, guitar), and does 1-2 rock covers. His voice fills the entire venue and his stage presence is amazing. He played at one of the biggest rock festivals in Moscow, alongside Korn. YT "Adam Lambert Sleepwalker Moscow" and "Adam Lambert Whole Lotta Love Moscow". And just to see his guy's versatility, YT "Adam Lambert Whole Lotta Love Fantasy Springs".

@TheLambertLover yeah wll on fantasy springs is the best I have seen anyone sing, I know people love the idol classic rock side of adam, but personally I actually prefer his pop stuff, its upbeat, it still has a scent of rock involved ala music again. And I just prefer it when he sings stripped down, then running around the stage, I think people need to get over this notion classic rock is the holy grail of music, because pop music is great and just as good.

@3ku1 Agree with you about everything. In fact, I have read in many places that pop is not a genre because it encompasses a lot of different genres. His album is so eclectic, it actually has what could be considered rock, especially if you go by who wrote these songs (Justin Hawkins, Muse, Weezer). Aftermath and Can't Let You Go are definitely rock. Anyway, have you seen him live yet? I went to 13 shows. I saw WLL Fantasy Springs live. Afterwards, we were all just in a daze. Unbelievable.

@TheLambertLover Yeah I agree I think I saw an interveiw where adam said pop fusion is the future, or along those lines. I think when casual fans see adams cover, hear his music they think oh he is the guy who wails, or sold out etc. And combined with his glam, campy image he hasent been taken seriousley. Image is just as important as talent, and I think his toned down look he is going to get much more recogntion. I think people inside and outside the idol bubble, are just getting used to him.

@yamanpaks Actually, the only reason Slash went on Idol was because of Adam. He thought Adam was the only standout artist he had ever seen/heard on American Idol, and contacted a friend who worked at Idol to ask if he could come and watch Adam. That is when they asked him to be a mentor. YouTube "Slash talks about Adam Lambert 5-20-10" to hear the entire story. Meatloaf also is a huge fan, saying that he hasn't been awestruck by another singer since Janis Joplin.
