This sport is badass. Never done it but im a track racing cyclist and its very similar to this except switch the bike for skates.

Thats the difference between ice speed skating, and inline speed skating on floor. On ice, your going to slide all over the place, compared to a floor, where you might roll for a little if you fall hard enough.
