For lack of a better phrase... this is fucking awesome. Every aspect of it; the beat, the oOooOOOoooo in the back, the poem. Buddy Wakefield is a beast.
@hereandnowboys I was raised catholic and went to St. Anne's Academy, a private catholic school my whole life. I've studied the bible the bible, torah, koran and many eastern and african religions, as well as word history. Don't even start to give me that shit. Men's base desire is not religion. YOU might believe in this but, that doesn't factor into wether or not the war was fought directly for religious purpose or with religious agenda.
@DPleskin You are correct that not all wars are started for religious purposes.Recently.Religion is no longer the channel through which the masses focus their will. Politics have become the channel.Wars are started because of a countrys moral compass, or lack thereof.Regardless of what form the group that executes our will takes.Popes or presidents. The history of our morals is set down in religion. If a peoples compass is strong and true they will not be warlike.
i haven't listend to the poem and i am hard pressed to say wheter or not most wars where directly related to religon but i would say that it played a large factor in most of them
really? religion started almost all wars, eh? what about pride, arrogance, territory, resources, freedom, politics and investment interests? I think you should read up a little on world history.
@DPleskin I appreciate yer stance on awareness, however, I feel the scope of this piece might be just a little bigger than religion as a firestarter for all wars
@BobbyDigitalinatti I agree but it was still a large theme in the poem, besides my comment was directed at other posters.(I believe, it was a year ago since i wrote it after all)
@DPleskin what about most main, well known wars?? Holocaust, the terrorists and such. of course most were not started over religion, but those that are, are bad, possibly the worst.
@TheFactoryReject actually WW2 was started over territorial expansion and resource interests, the holocaust was a side note as part of hitlers personal agenda against the jews. Most major wars were started over territorial expansion just look at european, and asian history where most wars were fought by people with the same religion.
@DPleskin I never said that WW2 was cause of religion. I don't mean to be a douche and start a big internet thing, but the holocaust may not have been like a massive war outside of the nazi regime, but it was without a doubt one of the worst and definately was a war in and of itself. but I do agree with you, human greed and need beats religion as the cause of wars, but religion is still up there.
@DPleskin What about lust, envy, sloth, greed, gluttony, wrath and pride. Ooops was that religious? I think you might want to read up on your religion. All wars are born of our base desires. Our history is steeped in religon. Keep looking and you might find out why. : )
@DPleskin religion is responsible for a lot of wars ... and a lot of rape death discrimination it goes on and on , so you can say that and of course war has a lot of variables but dont deny the truth by pointing out a flaw in someones argument of course its not responsible for almost all wars ...
@DPleskin I'd say, on the whole, people start more wars than anyone else, they are known for it. It's quite annoying as you always get pulled at immigration on any inter-dimensional flight, they do a full check on you, cavity, the lot. People are no.1 on the trouble maker list- basically, if you are a human being trying to holiday around the universe you get treated like an Iranian trying to get into America. It's a sad stigma and we all suffer because of species profiling. Toast!
@DPleskin Need to relax and take it for what it is. Another persons point of view, so maybe you should stop commenting on things that are clearly not presented as facts but as a freaking poem.
@DPleskin everyone's ideals come from their religion. That's what makes the proud, arrogant, and how they believe their freedom and politics should go. Maybe you should read up a little bit more on world history.
i absolutely love this piece, im a poet and i look forward to going to national poetry competition next year just to meet some of these wonderful folks. (even if i dont compete)
This is the first time I've seen this guy and I'm already in love, you can tell he's full of life, 1 out of 20 people would actually notice that they ran into someone earlier. I loved hearing Sarah sing too, her voice is so atmospheric.
in response to some of the comments made about a comment i posted i would like to apologize to those who truly were offended. i was simply explaining my faith in christ to offset the misrepresentation of my faith in some parts of the poem. once again i apologizes to all that think im being rude.
Yeah, I can't really help but be distracted by this in the poem. Buddy misuses the name of God, which is pretty dangerous. I don't think you need to apologize.
That was in reference to GreatExpectationz. I guess he doesn't really misuse the name of God. But he tries to give an image to an imageless being and makes a derogatory comment. It's hard not to be distracted by it in the poem.
nice poem but i believe we choose our own destiny.Jesus simply offers A redemptive opportunity to every man woman and child. see jesus comes to give life in aboundance the enemy comes to steal kill and lie to all of humanity. jesus explains who we are and what we are to do with our lives, which is to follow him do as he did which is fulfill Gods will. For it was Gods will for jesus to sacrafice his life as atonment for the sins of all humanity so he could reconnect with us.i thank god 4 his mercy
You are rationalizing a concept that is inherently baseless to begin with. People understand the concept. It's ignorant and rude to manipulate a forum that is meant to discuss a video of a great poem, for religious zeal.
This is a phenomenal version of this poem. My favourite. :)
wow the intro got drawn out quite a bit on this one...great poem tho, i love how he adds the beat box and the singing unlike the CD version which has just buddy...good shit
