Nice Review. I am a three year old mac and it has some nice programs when they choose to work. It definitely does not live up to its hype. I have the white case macbook with pull out battery. It has been freezing up a lot. So to me it is just like a regular computer when it comes to software usage.

Most of the time, one of the above could cause stability issues, if you are not updating 'em frequently.

Also try Windows update to get fixes for IE.

Consider other browsers and browser versions of firefox too.

well the mac at your school is one prob very outdated and they also load al kinds of crap on them to moniter what you do and block certain sites programs and other such things. no matter what a school uses mac or pc they are super slow. my school uses pc and they take from 3-8 minutes to booty up on normal somtimes they take 15 or more minutes its just all the surveilence crap on there otherwise it would boot in abot 1-2 minutes.

Go to an apple store and check out the macs there and play around with them. i don't regret switching to the mac its great very easy to use although it takes a few days to get use to. I've had mine for almost a year now and not once has it crashed or frozen. When your in the apple store the people there will help you and sit down with you to show you how the computer works for free. So good luck and enjoy your new machine.

I had a Dell desktop running XP for 7 years. It was nothing but trouble. I got a MacBook 1 1/2 years ago and love it. It just does what you ask it to-unlike Windows, that does and doesn't do whatever it wants. Great video, you'll grow to love that MacBook and will probably get rid of that desktop... :-)

great review. Loved it when you said the first thing you installed was Firefox just to have something you were used to....I did exactly the same thing!!! But I bought my first MacBook in 2007 - since then I've stopped using PCs altogether and just use MacBook and Mac Mini. They're just too simple.

...and I use NeoOffice instead MS Office for Mac, even though my new MacBook came with it.

GUYS think logically , when u buy a pc with a microsoft operating system as in windows xp or watvr , u never consider the price of the upgrades , or the bugs that ull have to fix , and all that shit.

besides the Apple laptop hardware ,operating system , and software are all FROM APPLE ITSELF so theres almost no chance of crashing or freezing while on the other hand pc is all combined from different companies and shops.

I made the switch to a mac 9 months ago and it was the best decision ever made. Macs are so easy to use, easier to organize your files, etc... Love how light they are and how fast it boots up. I'm getting the same one 2.4GHz macbook, and right now I own a previous version of the Macbook Pro, but I want something lighter and glossy. If you have a pc and want to switch to a Mac, then do it and you will love it. Firefox works great here too.

You know I started using Mac last year, I installed OSX on my PC, and to my surprise it was so easy to use, btw Im an advanced pc user I built my own, I know how to do a lot with Windows, but you know things on OSX are much more simpler, I always used to say OSX is for kids because its so easy to use =/ But I guess later I realized its actually a good thing, a computer these days should be easy to use. I have the "white" macbook right now (2 GHz Intel) and it's working great. I've actually managed to crash my it 4-5 times when watching YouTube videos on FireFox for some reason. The computer freezes and you can't do anything but hold the power key and restart your laptop.

I think everyone who switched to mac and got the aluminum macbook are very lucky. Though macbooks aren't meant for high graphics gaming, it'd still be nice to play these games (via bootcamp etc.). Mine doesn't work squat!

I've had my mac since it came out and only 1 program has frozen on me (windows messenger)but yea lol I've learned alot from my mac usage and just searching on youtube for w/e it is i have a question on.

i'm just curious as to how iWork is compared to office... i dont have a mac, so i cant try it out - but this is what i know:

- costs about $79

- theres a free 30-day trial on apple's website

- it also supports windows formats...

You might want to look up VMware Fusion 2 or Parallels if you would like to run both operating systems side by side, or to play games on your mac if you happen to be a gamer. You can also go to apple's website, and they have step by step videos to show you how to do anything you could think of.

white macbook-is obviously plastic and flimsier, however compared to the aluminum if it has less chance to get dents since it can flexibly take impact.white macbook has a combo drive built in and aluminum has a super drive.White has firewire and they took it off the aluminum macbook some say to sell more pros.The Screen is very delicate in the Aluminum macbook, and its built into the actually lid of the computer so if u lose the screen the whole things has to be replaced
