I just left the Mormon Church after having been an always active, life long member of 30 years +. I wanted to belive it was true also. I have a full testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I lost all of my friends this year, God kicked all of my old friends out of my life, because they were not good friends, God did this because he loves me, and I am somewhat friendless now, but i am not alone, God walks with me. you say I am wrong, but by what authority do you make this claim, and what is your Biblical defense for the idea that what I say is wrong? Tell me why I am wrong, not just that I am wrong, and explain your position that I am not born again, using the BIBLE. The Bible states in John 5:24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life" I believe (trust) in Jesus so I am born again.
BTW, Matthew 7 does not mention being born again, but it does mention false prophets in sheep's clothing (white shirts, ties, name badges....) and it mentions people claiming to know Jesus because of the "Mighty works" they did in His name.. sounds a lot like the LDS church to me! if the grace of God is not sufficient, then it is not grace. You don't even know what grace means. Galatians 1:8-9 could apply to the countless in churches who left the Catholic one but read it in context ( ie having a general understanding of Acts, Galatians chapters 2 and 3 also then you may know why Paul wrote this point of fact comment to the church in Galatia since it was directed towards them and had nothing to do with the validity or visitations of Angels before, during and after the time that Paul and Peter had also been seeing angels but that's another story)

If you love Christ as your name implies, would you not seek to act as he would act? I find it difficult to believe that Jesus would call any man an "old geezer." So who really then has the truth, if they are both claiming the Sprit has told them through their "feelings" so how is one to discern? "Feelings" alone are not the fruits of the spirit. The problem is that you can't trust your feelings. I know people who have been members of the church more than 60 years who can't distinguish the feeling they get at church from the feeling of hearing the national anthem at the Olympics. If a fact "truth in the mind" contradicts the feelings what do you do? Most members go with the feelings instead of the facts and commit intellectual dishonesty to retain the illusion of "truth."
I know the testimonies of these men are true. I know they are Apostles called by God to preach His Truth. I invite all to put their words to the test and you will know it too.
Then what is it you have if you have more than "feelings" (aka the Holy Ghost). The missionaries only teach that you should read the BoM and pray about it to "know" the church is "true". Is there something else that makes you "know."
First, you have to be honest and sincere and really have a desire to know. Many say they do, but they don't actually believe they might receive a response. You have to believe God can answer.
Ok, so I've done all that and I still don't get that "feeling" of truth, then what? You also haven't said what other things testify to you other than feelings. I'm really curious to know what else there is.
I don't want to share sacred experiences, especially on here. Many receive the truth without actually knowing it. I can't really tell you how you will know, but if you follow it you will know.
Ah yes the LDS preoccupation of things being sacred once it starts getting personal. A big difference between Mormonism and Christianity there. There are some logical problems there saying well you can't know its true until you accept it and do it. That's actually faith on speculation that it's true, not that it actually is. But that's not what the church claims. So are you saying you have nothing else to go on other then the feeling of it being true?
That's actually not what Christ was saying. A little out of context here. What it appears you are saying is you can't really "know" you just do it and believe you're doing the right thing. You have to have faith that it is true.
Christ was essentially talking to his disciples who were worried about being rejected in their teachings. His point was that if the disciples were doing what they were supposed to the people would know what Jesus taught was of God and not man. Has nothing to do with following in blind faith.
But Christ will save you with out you buying his gift of salvation, don't you agree?
I disagree with your interpretation of this passage. I re-read it and I don't see that at all. Also, we don't follow in blind faith. We are saved by grace, but we are required to be obedient.

But we must all stand to defend the truth and prove to world that there is a living breathing communicating God by proving that he's not going to whisper a single utterance directly to us in our unique day about our unique needs. God has used many children to do His work, but J.S. was not a child when he wrote the B.O.M. he was a full grown man, and his so called "first vision" story could not be confirmed by anyone but him, and only in his writings and musings. Face it, he made up your religion to feel powerful and to gain wealth and acclaim.

BTW, Matthew 7 does not mention being born again, but it does mention false prophets in sheep's clothing (white shirts, ties, name badges....) and it mentions people claiming to know Jesus because of the "Mighty works" they did in His name.. sounds a lot like the LDS church to me! yes, whenever you see a prophesy of coming false prophets, you can interject Joseph into that with little need for apprehension We know that Joseph, as well as Charles Russel, Sun Yeung Moon and many others are false prophets because they teach things which directly contradict the Bible. How else would we be able to know the difference between what is true and false, had it not been given us in the Bible? If God's word is not your standard of truth, then you risk falling for any lie.

It's nothing more then conditioned responses that get equated to truth. Jehovah's Witness's experience similar things in their meetings and, on occasion, say they "know their faith is true." So who really then has the truth, if they are both claiming the Sprit has told them through their "feelings" so how is one to discern? "Feelings" alone are not the fruits of the spirit. The problem is that you can't trust your feelings. I know people who have been members of the church more than 60 years who can't distinguish the feeling they get at church from the feeling of hearing the national anthem at the Olympics. If a fact "truth in the mind" contradicts the feelings what do you do? Most members go with the feelings instead of the facts and commit intellectual dishonesty to retain the illusion of "truth."

There are some logical problems there saying well you can't know its true until you accept it and do it. That's actually faith on speculation that it's true, not that it actually is. But that's not what the church claims. So are you saying you have nothing else to go on other then the feeling of it being true?

Christ was essentially talking to his disciples who were worried about being rejected in their teachings. His point was that if the disciples were doing what they were supposed to the people would know what Jesus taught was of God and not man. Has nothing to do with following in blind faith.
But Christ will save you with out you buying his gift of salvation, don't you agree?

I disagree with your interpretation of this passage. I re-read it and I don't see that at all. Also, we don't follow in blind faith. We are saved by grace, but we are required to be obedient.
