I have a 33rp lp album titled "1900 in Stereo" , The various selections were played on a laser-using phonograph with electrical amplifier. The output was scratch-filtered and even re-routed as stereo. There may even be some tampering with fidelity. The music is quite good, but doesn't really compare to the authentic flavor of these old hulks of machinery.
Wow! The sound is incredible! I have gotten quite used to the sound of my Edison B Standard from 1905, so this surprised me. This trumps every machine I've ever heard! (Which isn't very many, but...) Thanks for posting! Best,
That machine sounds awesome, I have never seen an Excelsior in action. That is a treat. I love Edison Band cylinders. This excelsior really has power and can pump out some great volume at a very even speed.
I record new and period music onto cylinders , and sell blanks, It is a hobby so, I sell only what I make, I do not accept additional orders. you can go to my Youtube and see how the blanks are processed. I made a few thousand cylinders for collectors from 2000 to now.
Most cylinders were recorded using only the direct energy from the sound waves from the singer/performers voice onto a master cylinder, which was then molded into a supply of black wax cylinders.

The last part of the song is the music of "The preacher and the bear". That song was very popular sung by Collins

Very nice! I have that record but I can't play it because, sadly it's been eaten up by mold.

Don't worry, mine has a hairline crack, not audible but it's there and rendering the cylinder worthless. :(

They still make them? Wow! What do they use them for now? Converting music from worn out cylinders to knew ones?
