I haven't liked a Sonic game this much since Sonic Adventure 2. I think the new Knight one, while story is again insanely Mickey Mousish, looks promising as well. SEGA would be better not explaining why Sonic is somewhere and just allow us to play the game and make-up our own story. Then Sonic could fight the Giant Squid from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, or The Witch from Hanzel And Gretel.

As a long SEGA system owner, if Sonic was gonna get a Sword, SEGA should have combined Sonic with the SEGA series "Monster World." Monster World combines Midevil and Mechs which would work well with Sonic. Unfortunately, not a lot of Gamers are familuar with the MW Series.

IMO the real world elements of Sonic are generally a good influence. The classic Sonics have a few brilliant stages but these tend to be the less kooky ones, or just happen to have the best music.

You end this review with a clip dramatizing the game. The appeal is all aesthetic, the light road, corkscrews, lighting, music, epicness etc. Therein why I don't like this game, among other reasons because of Shahra, the framerate, and Sonic's action-figure-like animation and overall jitteryness.

zero has a REALLY good point. the boss fights sucked, the whole genie thing sucked, and the moving backward sucked. heck, i could barely move back, the flying pots were hell, the laucher things took forever to correct, and you had to retry WAY TOO MANY TIMES because of parts wehre you were going from enemy to enemy with a homing attack.

What about Sonic Adventure? In my eyes, that was the perfect 3D Sonic game. It was fast, entertaining and it said fuck you to everyone. It was also the most beautiful game ever made at that point. Jaws dropped and pants were shat around the world when they saw how great it looked.

The game is pretty good, the first 3 levels sucked and were really boring but then later the game got better when progressing though the game. The controls were pretty good but felt awkward in some points, they should of worked on it a bit. The graphics are great and the voice cast are so/so. I love this game! Maybe that's because I've never played any other Sonic game so I don't know what Sonic's supposed to be, but oh, well. I still love it! The gameplay is so awesome, and sprinting through the levels, crashing into enemies, and flying through the air at hyper speed is very fun. Although the story is cheesy, it's still a good game.

"SPEED BREAK!" Those are so great! It's such a rush when Sonic goes even faster than usual.

Like Aragorio, I also hated this game.

The controls were terrible, and with the add ons to your ring to make the controls a little more bareable was unacceptable. The controls should work as best as they can right from the beginning of the game. All turns were delayed (awful for a game thats meant to have fast action), and the game has trouble registering any sharp turns.

Also, the fixed path made me feel that the game was playing itself. =/

This is a pretty good game, although the tutorial's a drag & until you get the controls figured out it can seem pretty slow.

After a bit of practice you'll be flogging through levels at a ridiculous speed, just like the 16 bit games.

Oh, and you forgot to mention the multiplayer - it's Mario Party style, and although not great it'll keep you occupied for a few sessions.

Unfortunately, I have my doubts on that. I just get the dark feeling the were-hedgehog mode is going to put gum on Sonic's ever swift shoes, much like the Tails/Eggman/75% Knuckels/75% Rouge levels did for Sonic Adventure 2.

It's probably just paranoia from an old Sonic Fan, since I get the same feeling whenever somebody mentions a new Shining Force game. Still, I think I'll wait for a little before I pick it up.

To be honest, I don't think the story really matters in this kind of game. The mario games for example are some of the most fun games I have played to date yet their stories are far from decent. If I want a good story I play an RPG, I turn to sonic and mario and mario kart and super monkey ball and all that what not for one reason... A bullshit story and some decent gameplay.
