your exterminator was misinformed. Great video, though! AHB are more defensive of the nest. If that was an AHB swarm they would have chased you. 50 feet away they will come after you and will chase you for up to 1/4 mile! I have caught many swarms of EHB and they come in all shapes and sizes But better safe than sorry. Call a beekeeper and they can come identify and remove//destroy it depending.
But it wasn't a nest, it was just a swarm of bees huddling around a queen bee! It disappeared in a matter of minutes!
It's true that they weren't agressive, but the bee guy that I called said that if there wasn't a nest to defend, they wouldn't become agressive... The swarm disappeared before the bee guy showed up. He said that it probably would and asked that I call him if it did so that he could save the trip, so I guess we'll never really know.
