One of the first people that died was Ron, the assistant who had a short relation with Edwin. Because of him Edwin got infected too and he did not survive. Although his father was working on a serum, he came too late to save his son..

We had less than a year to enjoy the Ludwin love story; during some of that, Lucas was in a coma. It is impossible to guess why the makers of  "GTST" (Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden) decided to kill off Edwin, a well-loved character. Let's not forget: the writers also concocted a horrific end for Lucas' previous boyfriend, Marco - whom they turned into a psychotic mass-murderer. Sorry, this sort of repeated "bad luck" does not (repeatedly) befall the partners of the straight characters on GTST.

I was totally shocked when I saw Friday's episode and Edwin died. I was totally taken off guard, wow. So this show mimicked the same thing as AWZ when they killed off Roman. Now Deniz (AWZ) and Lucas (GTST) are both w/o a partner, I wonder who the writers are going to get for both guys.

Edwin will be sadly missed.... The actor portraying him did such a wonderful job.... He was the opposite of Lucas, and therefore they made a wonderful couple.... Much of the credit, has to go to Raynor Arkenbout, who made Edwin so likable and so unforgettable.... Good luck to him... I wish him great success in his career, wherever that may lead....

aw, echt mooie video. Ik heb gisteren maar af en toe kunnen kijken (mijn moeder verafschuwt gtst) en ik heb alleen maar de pieptoon gehoord toen Edwin dood ging dus toen was al mijn hoop weg. Jij hebt echt een hele mooie video gemaakt.

Ik heb wel een vraag en misschien weet jij het antwoord, is Edwin er echt uitgeschreven door de schrijvers of wilde Raynor zelf de serie verlaten? Ik heb het al een tijdje afgevraagd en misschien dat jij het antwoord wel weet.

@gotmedancing - Ja dat weet ik, Raynor heeft zelf aangegeven dat ze hem vanwege verhaal-technische redenen uit de serie hebben geschreven. Ws. willen ze het karakter Lucas meer de kans geven om zich te ontplooien, en daar hoort dus Edwin helaas niet bij. I really hate when they say they want to go in another direction. In The US that usually means the character is recast! I know they won't get rid of Ferry, but it makes me wonder what direction they are moving Lucas in. They were only together for a year and had so much drama. It would have been nice to see them happy for more than minute before they ripped it all apart!

@jenn1916 Agree wholeheartedly. I understand Soaps aren't real life but they're not even good drama when the storylines ricochet from one crisis or tragedy to another. No one, not even in these depressingly dark economic times, lives a life that moves from crisis to crisis or tragedy to tragedy. These storylines have such short trajectories that the viewer is never allowed to savor the experience. They're like a cheap value meal at McDonald's: filling, not nourishing, and quick. How sad.

@melinasparta43 - It's not because of that at all, but technical wise/storywise they want to go another direction with Lucas, apparently Edwin does not fit in.

The writers are not homophobic at all, in fact the exec. producer is gay himself, and he knows we all gone miss Edwin, he just wrote it on his twitter. You could also say, they seemed to be not creative finding a good storyline for Edwin. I could have thought about more storylines though...
