Peppervenge makes a lot of sense but the only problem with cutting back on military spending would be all of the Americans coming home with no jobs/income. I do agree we should cut back on military spending but it has to be done in increments. I think every government official with income over 6 figures should get a pay deduction by 5 to 10%. This would lower our national spending without costing jobs.

We have to cut spending and raise taxes. First, understand the current US yearly budget; spending is over $3 trillion, revenue is only about $2 trillion. We need to reverse these numbers. Start by making cuts. Everything must be cut ESPECIALLY the military budget witch is over $600 Billion. The cuts should equal $1 Trillion per yr. Next we have to raise taxes to increase revenue by $1 Trillion. Keep middle class tax the same but increase the rich tax. This way the national debt can be payed off.

If we get rid of the bush tax cut then their tax rate will increase to 45%. Increasing the rich tax will take the burden off of the middle class. Right now the government isn't making enough money and we have a huge debt to pay off so revenue has to exceed surplus by at least $1 trillion. This will better our credit ratting and strengthen our economy.
