This is a demonstration of Fingerspitzengefühl that only the great players have. Vidar Busk is operating in the Guitarist's Champions League for blues, bluesballads, rockabilly etc. His playing in this clip really suits the sound from his gear. He uses the clarity, whistles and bells from single coiled strat and fender amp with reverb in a good way. I hope Vidar Busk breaks through more on the international scene with his music.
Vidar Busk is a undiscovered gem, he does many things I`ve never hear other guitarists do, and that's quite unusual with blues oriented players. Only other young guitar blues guitar player i know of that got his own distinctive style is derek trucks.
It's amazing what you can do with some nice side burns and an old strat but doesn't a talent like that at least deserve a better singer if not a better band?
AH! So glad I found this!! This guy's amazin!Got his own style goin an everythin, tho you can hear some SRV and Jazz influence in there I think... And I don't see a problem with him playing "too many notes" when he retains the feeling. He's not like one of these cockbag shredders who wang out a hundred menaingless notes with no feeling inside half a second or whatever, this guy's got the feeling which overrules anything else...v=VIDAR!!
i've never heard anything like this! have tried to jam on the song a dozen of times and i'm finally getting the style. Couldn't disagree more on all the too-many-notes-complaints.
Not to be confrontational but of all of you who seem to think that his playing is too cluttered, how many of you have toured Russia? Raise your hands. Uh huh...I thought so. Ok, how many of you are internationally known blues players? Raise your hands. Uh Huh...I thought so.

You can google me, Little Ray, Ive toured europe and played on more notable cds than this cat, I am not knockin him just dont care for that style . I played 5 years with the late great Ervin Charles and he would always tell me Little Ray take your time those women aint goin nowhere.
The whole line of criticism--playing too many notes--is BS. If that makes sense, then I spose we can criticize others for "not playing enough notes", yes? IMO, you either play for the music or against it.
He doesn't rely on only playing zillion-note a minute riffs. Nor is he limited by simple, cliched pentatonic riffing. He's playing to the song, and he's playing with feeling, IMO. Great feeling, great chops and great musical ideas. Right on!

His guitar looks just like John Mayers relic strat. But this guy sounds is incredible! He sounds like a mix between SRV/Clapton and Santana

Great tone on the Strat...would like to see what amp he was using.
Blkojo 3 years ago
He was using an old Fender Blues Deluxe.
They don't even make them anymore tho.
The ones they call blues deluxe now, are crap.
JilaX 3 years ago
Actually, it was a Deluxe Reverb. Sorry for the mix up
JilaX 3 years ago
vidar usualy uses a fender bassman when he plays live...
welfaremothers 3 years ago
I've seen him live.
He used a Twin Reverb that time.
And on another video from this concert. The guy who filmed it tells some guy asking, that Vidar borrowed his Deluxe Reverb for the night.
JilaX 3 years ago
yeah, you're right. he uses all kinds of amps. BUT i've read somwhere that his favorite live amp is a fender bassman head + cab
welfaremothers 3 years ago
That's probably true, I wouldn't know.
Just saying, in this one he's using the Deluxe Reverb. :)
