  • This is a demonstration of Fingerspitzengefühl that only the great players have. Vidar Busk is operating in the Guitarist's Champions League for blues, bluesballads, rockabilly etc. His playing in this clip really suits the sound from his gear. He uses the clarity, whistles and bells from single coiled strat and fender amp with reverb in a good way. I hope Vidar Busk breaks through more on the international scene with his music.

  • Maybe the best guitar player ever, in this genre!

  • If there is such thing as reencarnation, then SRV, GARY MOORE and Manolis Hiotis must be argueing for this body!!!

  • Listening to this clip a thought keeps coming back............stop singing you idiot, youre messing up for the insanely good guitar.

  • guitar wow

  • You are my Number one Vidar!

  • ive listened to this so many times now i can actually play it xD

  • Wwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.......WHAT a play! What a pity that I don't live in Norway to listen him live:(

  • I can't pick up my jaw from the floor...

  • Vidar Busk is a undiscovered gem, he does many things I`ve never hear other guitarists do, and that's quite unusual with blues oriented players. Only other young guitar blues guitar player i know of that got his own distinctive style is derek trucks.

  • His guitar looks just like John Mayers relic strat. But this guy sounds is incredible! He sounds like a mix between SRV/Clapton and Santana

  • @davidcarr90

    + reinhardt

  • i dig that kats style (guitarist)

  • This is great!!! Reminds me Ronnie Earl a little bit.

  • What a gutiar!!! REALLY great! Thank you for sharing:)

  • He has been in our house maybe 4 times or more. :)

  • my aunt is his girlfriend :D:D

  • What's the title of that song?

  • "You hurt me" like he said in the introdudtion, and every time in the chorus:P

  • Little Willie John - You Hurt Me

  • Great!

  • he is from my hometown in Norway I played a bit with him just for fun. Met him in a guitar shop

  • Singer is shit. guitar is fantastic

  • @slyker5 I thought the same BUT after listening this many, many times I have to say, that's singer suits here very well:) I like him:)

  • what a man! this is maybe the most beutiful peace of music i have ever heard!

  • except from the vocals I presume..?:P

  • i was probably wasted when writing that comment, cant fucking remember even doing so! :D

  • Tror det var jeg som gjorde det en gang jeg var hos deg og kubbet. for lenge siden.. hilsen Jul:-D

  • loljuggizz:(

  • yeah, he sucks but what a guitar

  • @64fairlane305 Vidar Busk...the true son of Langesund, Norway

  • It's amazing what you can do with some nice side burns and an old strat but doesn't a talent like that at least deserve a better singer if not a better band?

    Really nice work

  • god jul

  • god jul

  • AH! So glad I found this!! This guy's amazin!Got his own style goin an everythin, tho you can hear some SRV and Jazz influence in there I think... And I don't see a problem with him playing "too many notes" when he retains the feeling. He's not like one of these cockbag shredders who wang out a hundred menaingless notes with no feeling inside half a second or whatever, this guy's got the feeling which overrules anything else...v=VIDAR!!

  • soothing guitar blues sound...anyone know what year strat he uses???

  • very cool! nice work!

  • Go vidar!

  • Iv'e seen him live! i got hes autograf too!

  • My favourite clip on Youtube!

  • This guitarist should get his ass over to Chicago and play the scene there (Toronto 7 New York too,of course)

  • Woah....it's Will Sasso.

  • Nice guitar action, 5 stars baby!!!

  • You like it...or you don't...(I do)...but, you don't ever tear a player down. Move on and listen to something else.

  • Nice words gpower, agree

  • Great tone on the Strat...would like to see what amp he was using.

  • He was using an old Fender Blues Deluxe.

They don't even make them anymore tho.

The ones they call blues deluxe now, are crap.

  • Actually, it was a Deluxe Reverb. Sorry for the mix up

  • vidar usualy uses a fender bassman when he plays live...

  • I've seen him live.

He used a Twin Reverb that time.

And on another video from this concert. The guy who filmed it tells some guy asking, that Vidar borrowed his Deluxe Reverb for the night.

  • yeah, you're right. he uses all kinds of amps. BUT i've read somwhere that his favorite live amp is a fender bassman head + cab

  • That's probably true, I wouldn't know.

Just saying, in this one he's using the Deluxe Reverb. :)

  • Thanks for posting this.

    TF

  • i've never heard anything like this! have tried to jam on the song a dozen of times and i'm finally getting the style. Couldn't disagree more on all the too-many-notes-complaints.

  • You hurt me. Good song

  • whats the name of the song?

  • So many stupid comments on great music, as usual on Youbtuse...

  • Not to be confrontational but of all of you who seem to think that his playing is too cluttered, how many of you have toured Russia? Raise your hands. Uh huh...I thought so. Ok, how many of you are internationally known blues players? Raise your hands. Uh Huh...I thought so.

  • The whole line of criticism--playing too many notes--is BS. If that makes sense, then I spose we can criticize others for "not playing enough notes", yes? IMO, you either play for the music or against it.

He doesn't rely on only playing zillion-note a minute riffs. Nor is he limited by simple, cliched pentatonic riffing. He's playing to the song, and he's playing with feeling, IMO. Great feeling, great chops and great musical ideas. Right on!

  • Boosh!

  • AWESOME:)

    Hilde

  • Fuck yeah.

Mother fucker got the hell sweet chops, make a black man cry mmmm-mmmm.

  • Yeah, nice playing. A lot of soul in it

  • Junior Watson told me about this guy... cool...

  • yes he is the man..great stuff..

  • Who made this song? Can't catch the name, jones something?

  • Little Willie John.

  • Oh man thats nice playin'

  • Now thats some Bad Ass blues !! Great style !

  • Vidar Busk rules big time (blueslover)

  • I love Vidar Busk! (as a musician :P)

  • Great playing. I want to make a guitarpro-tab for this.. is the key 6/4 or something? :P

  • I mean 6/8

  • WOW! Ikke hørt noe av Busk før, men dette er jo fenomanalt. Synes faenmeg fyren er bedre enn SRV!

  • New fan from Alaska!

  • Really sounds like the opening bars of 'Summertime' by Joplin and Big Brother Holding Company circa 1968-69

  • Thats true, he has also something from Rory Gallagher in A Million Miles Away

  • very nice guitar my friend....smooth as glass.

  • wow really nice playing.

  • Great stuff...some of the better blues I've heard on you tube. Sweet vibe! Come on down to St Louis one day.

  • Guys, that man is great, try to find a song of him called "lovestruck" , i love that song.

  • This Vidar cat plays the blues and then some. You have a new fan from down Texas way.

  • and an new fan from holland, great playing!

  • and a second one :P

I love his way of playing

  • whoa... he's good. Hadn't heard of Busk before.

  • nice work altogether!! Keep it goin'...

  • Holy Mother of God! This sounds so much like Big Brother & The Holding Company it's scary. I'd be afraid of copyright infringement on the opening!

  • I don't think there can be a copyright on improvised music performed live....
