Thanks for posting this. Finally a movie I can believe in and enjoy. Good acting and very realistic. It's so true that innocence is quickly lost in the gay world. It's all about sex...There are exceptions of course. I'm speaking from my own experience and from the general trend of gay encounters.
I see there is a lot of stereotypical gays in this movie, notsaying that it's bad, but where are the more less feminine or sex hounding gays? Either way, I love this movie.
Thanks for putting this up. Great film. A few other films dealing with the trauma and pain of coming out, are the excellent Shelter, also Latter Days, and the German film Summer Storm. All top quality movies. One other thing: It seems strange to me that some of the comments below are from people who are so obviously threatened by homosexuality. Well, I just finished watching the movie and it certainly wasn't bad in its sort and the added 80s thing made it better. I thought there were a few weak points, especially in the depth of characters and for instance about 1 hour into the film, when Eric finally comes out to the girlfriend I was really surprised: WHAT?! Wasn't it clear all along? Wasn't it already a clear issue between them?
I think if you're honest you'll have to agree with me that the ENTIRE way...

Let's hope that Maggie can forgive him for using her in his brief attempt to "go straight." It was understandable that he would do that but still insensitive.
This movie is in alot of guys top 10 Gay movie lists and so I was looking forward to seeing it...but I am now disappointed in it. I could not warm to Eric at all. Yes he was confused and all the other things most young gay kids go through but he just seemed way too naive and maybe even a little slow & abit stupid. And they way he looked at the guy at the end...was just silly Eric again. A way better movie is C.R.A.Z.Y...a mich more likeable main character.

Thanks for putting this up. Great film. A few other films dealing with the trauma and pain of coming out, are the excellent Shelter, also Latter Days, and the German film Summer Storm. All top quality movies. One other thing: It seems strange to me that some of the comments below are from people who are so obviously threatened by homosexuality. My question is: Why do you watch these films if your minds are already made up ? Strange.

Well, I just finished watching the movie and it certainly wasn't bad in its sort and the added 80s thing made it better. I thought there were a few weak points, especially in the depth of characters and for instance about 1 hour into the film, when Eric finally comes out to the girlfriend I was really surprised: WHAT?! Wasn't it clear all along? Wasn't it already a clear issue between them?

Very sympathetic central character in this one, you really feel for him. He wants love and care and discovers how shallow so much of the gay scene is. I remember exactly what he went through.

@Crystalhearts10 Of course Eric & Maggie do not end up together. That would contradict the whole movie. He's gay, and she's straight. The movie is about his coming out. Let's hope that Maggie can forgive him for using her in his brief attempt to "go straight." It was understandable that he would do that but still insensitive.

This movie is in alot of guys top 10 Gay movie lists and so I was looking forward to seeing it...but I am now disappointed in it. I could not warm to Eric at all. Yes he was confused and all the other things most young gay kids go through but he just seemed way too naive and maybe even a little slow & abit stupid. And they way he looked at the guy at the end...was just silly Eric again. A way better movie is C.R.A.Z.Y...a mich more likeable main character.
