  • is the title of this song from a UCB sketch?

  • First one of these I saw was played by Robert Taylor. Seems they're catching on. Please don't make me buy one. I have enough trouble playing the regular ones I have.

Looks like something out of Alice in Wonderland...

  • I MISS THE OLD TOP COMMENT

  • Anybody know what guitar this is ?

  • @eightstringguitarftw 7 string beneteau. I had the privilege of playing it myself, it's an incredible instrument!

  • @eightstringguitarftw It's an Bender 7 String, maybe a some spezial edition, cause i couldn't find it on the website ^^

  • I want that guitar.

  • This new video style really works with Craig's music.

  • tuning??

  • 1:59 to 2:23 is heavenly

  • Uhhh.... why is a breastfeeding video in the related videos?

  • @Jammcconnell cause it's a trick. xP

  • ... I just noticed this guitar has seven strings. I've been listening to this song for many months now... how did i miss that?

  • Putting a camera on some kind of drug seems very interesting...not that i am on drugs either.

  • what's gauge 7 strings?

  • Comment removed

  • @MrMinhtien I'm guessing the low B will be around 0.064" or so.

  • @DuskY1991 yeah thks ,i also have a 7 string fan fret 0.064 0.012

  • did u see the dislike bar?no.

  • this camera guy fucking sucks.

  • @volpericky How?

  • @TomDodsonMusic it's too shaky.

  • @volpericky Thats was the intention i think. there is a stationary camera, and a hand held camera. A hand held camera is never going to be perfectly still. But i see where you are coming from, but personally i quite like the way the video was shot :)

  • Does anyone know if there is an arrangement of this for a six string acoustic anywhere?

  • @Satelite93mrm checkout the candyrat web store if you haven't, they should have it

  • I was on Marc Benetau's website fappi- I mean, fawning over guitars, specifically this one. Who's have thought I would see it in action?

  • @SafetyMan911 haha, I took some lessons with craig and he was kind enough to let me play each of his guitars to try them out. they sound like pianos! it's ridiculous

  • @SafetyMan911 I would do stupid things for any of his guitars.

  • oh yes.

  • @lusapeiro Don't worry, you're not the only teen that listens to Craig. I'm seventeen and I absolutely adore his music. As we go is my favourite. :)

  • @Rossfisher123 it's not only "listen to craig"..it's listen to a classical guitar, or anything like that..i'm from brazil, and, here, i see people listen pretty much pop music (lady gaga, justin bieber, that crap), some local musics (axe, samba), and rock, or anything that has a eletric guitar (some bands are as "cool" as jonas brothers - even worse anda gayer)..i don't know a person that knows who is craig d'andrea..it's sad, but it's true :)

  • so cool

  • I been drinkin' hard for three damn days -- how many strings does that guitar have...?

  • @McGrottomaster seven...

  • @lusapeiro :).... yeah, my head's clearin' a bit now....

  • @McGrottomaster haha, at the beginning i didn't realize it either, i was trying to learn it by ear and noticed that something was weird..looking at the coments i saw someone saying that was seven...anyway :b

  • @lusapeiro Igor Presnyakov plays the (rare) Russian 7-string guitar but I don't know that it's configured or tuned the same as this modern one. Do you ever listen to Igor? He's pretty amazing! I've played guitar for 35 years but I've never heard anything like that!

  • @McGrottomaster wth? 35 years? i've been playing for 7 :D (i'm only 19 o/)

i've never heard of him :/

  • @lusapeiro Well, hey, mon ami -- type him in here on You Tube and you will be mightily impressed. He plays acoustic covers on all manner of songs [wrires his own stuff too] so just pick one that you like. I have his best on a songlist accessible thru my profile so you could go there too... you won't regret having done so. If you're a guitar player then you'll be an instant Igor fan. If you go thru my profile, check out *Maxim's* best songs too -- he's a wonder.

    best regards,

    pat

  • @McGrottomaster haha, thks, i was just listenning some covers of him..

    hell of a guitarist o.O

hahaha, sorry 'bout the "wth 35 years"..i'm not used to be listenning the same as people too much older than me

i think it's just that craig's songs are not the thing that many 20's years old people use to listen :P

  • @lusapeiro Well, I listen to pretty much all music, rap excepted. My favorite is Classical [mostly Modern Period, Stravinsky, Schoenberg, Berg, Villa-Lobos, Webern, etc.] but I still play Classic Rock around the campfire. That Igor got me re-interested in my acoustic guitar a few months back. You didn't offend me at all. That's impossible to do anyway -- I'm a retired Law Enforcement officer so I've been cursed by the best and drenched in piss and puke too. All one can do is laugh about it.

  • LIKE A BOSS!

  • What I want to know is, who's Chris and how did he get a song by this legend devoted to him? ):

  • @TheHarpernator95 I think Chris is his brother, not sure :)

  • this song is ridiculously awesome

  • is it me or there's a bad chord at 2:28? sounds strange to me

  • @nelsonfnduarte It sounds a bit funny I know but I do believe that it is correct. but I don't have the music for this. It's kind of hard to tell.

  • @nelsonfnduarte it^s named tone change

  • @nelsonfnduarte Yeah, he definitely messed that up (but it's totally okay because pros have a right to make mistakes, even though they are more than human =D). You can tell because he gets it right when he repeats that little theme. And it's got nothing to do with tone change...

  • @nelsonfnduarte

in the moment you think he's playing "wrong" you actually can see his fingers and his face. both don't seem to want it another way!

Or maybe the song is pre-recorded.this would match up even better, cause he plays the same.

If you want to be convinced that this is the right note, try to feel the music in this special moment. Try to hear the story he tells and what this note (it's not a chord just one note with its octave) brings into it.

Notice the repitition is in tune again!

  • Okay I'm doing grade six classical in a few months. I know I can't write stuff like this after just reading an internet guide but does anyone know a good way to get started learning how?

  • @cardboarddalek Maybe you could learn songs like these from Andy Mckee, Don Ross or this guy. Get some influence from them and get a grasp of their techniques.

  • This is possibly my favorite acoustic guitar song ever...

  • @JoeSlinkard same here

  • yes i do like tricks

  • Comment removed

  • What the heck is up with the neck? is like twisted hardcore..

  • @cwhite037 they're called fanned frets...they're used to keep the guitar in tone and also that each note will stay in tune..kind of like a piano...what's also unique of his playing is that he's playing a 7-stringed guitar

  • @cwhite037 Helps intonation. Also some players find it easier to play music like this on. There are varying degrees of how much frets are like this. It also helps with drop tuning.

  • @cwhite037 its a fanned fret board

  • what brand of guitar is this?

  • @pandabiscuts123 It's a Beneteau guitar, famous luthier.

  • at 00:27 i though he breakes into Man made god by In flames

  • Beautiful

  • it seems like the fanned fret guitar is gaining popularity... I may have to make a new investment..

  • @TheLegendaryLoboSolo I wish i had the money to make that investment :(

  • wouldnt know what to do with so many strings i can barely handle six

  • Andy Mckee points to his guitar: YOU .. GUITAR MAKE MUSIC NOW....!!!

  • oh my god. it´s a 7-string. i needed 2 minutes to see that because i only saw on his fingers :D

    it´s f**kin´ great. love it!

  • Comment removed

  • Is this the same one as Andy Mckee has??

I mean the exact same one?

  • @Kryptonic678 No, as i remember, Andy's one is a cutaway

  • @MySnowfox Hey you're right. Also this one has 7 strings as I notice now...

  • @Kryptonic678 and Andy Mckee uses Greenfield guitars, and Craig playes on Beneteau :)

  • @Kryptonic678 Yeah, and Andy's guitar has only 6 strings.

  • @Kryptonic678 I don't think so. First Andy has a 6 strings guitar and Craig has 7 strings. And Andy's guitar is a unique guitar crafted by Greenfield. But I thought the same the first time I saw this video :D

(Excuse my english dude =) )

  • What brand of guitar is it? And why is it seven-stringed o_o This is too much for me >mindblown<

  • ლ(゚д゚ლ) y u no play like this? *points at me*

  • I am Chris. I like Tricks.

  • yeah so who is Chris?

  • Good play and wonderful guitar!

  • Love the fanfret guitar...id have to prolly turn some tricks to afford one though..

  • Chris....come to the dark side..we have cookies you can chuck at people.

  • 6 Chrises lost their parents to a freak magic-related accident.

  • @TheVampireSteve that's not funny at all.

  • @chicken6111 Hes just doing that so he can get likes. You see them everywhere. There almost as bad as trolls. They are 'like' whores.

  • At this rate I'm going to have to quit my job if I want to learn all my favorites from Candyrat guys

  • The other day I went to the store, and I had to wear a hat! PRESTO BITCH

  • Can't take my eyes out of this guitar...

  • HO, I like that one alot!!! I'm shareing with FB...

  • I still don't what i like best with this guy, his music or his songs titles

  • Comment removed

  • I love the rhythm and tempo of the music. Great sound

  • How about a tutorial of playing this? ^^

It's good to share your tricks

  • @julian830 i see what you did there . . .

  • I want one! :)

  • I don't know about Chris, but I like tricks like that:D

  • This guitar broke my eyes.

  • oh craig. you and your retarded song titles. you're undoubtedly sick wit it though.

  • can someone tell me the standard tuning of a 7 string acoustic?

  • @JoshuaRowGuitarist BEADGBE

  • amaziinnz stuuff

  • Great stuff ! love the style especially the slower segments :) are you coming to quebec city anytime ?you should there is a pretty decent acoustic guitar fanbase here always eager to find new artists.

  • why is the neck bent? Is it cuz´ it´s a 7-string acoustic?

  • @ickerolig Yes, read the comments below and it will help you understand it more

  • @ickerolig not bent, multi scaled, its to keep the low b in tension. anyone know the model of guitar?

  • @robostomo1

Some sort of Beneteau baritone fanned fret 7 string version.

Kind of looks the the M-Model to me but I can't be sure.

  • 6 dislikes ? WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE

  • The FretBoard is kinda fuzzy . . . or im just blind . . . ? o_O

  • @Ev1on It's a fanned fret so that's the right fretboard

  • Each string has its own scale length to improve intonation is correct.

  • What does a fanned fret do?

  • @ShinSUREYOUCAN it makes the finger positioning more natural and comfortable

  • @Herfer Actually, the real purpose of having fanned frets is to have the strings all at a different scale sort of like a piano, keeping it in tune as you go up the guitar neck.

  • @Herfer I am pretty sure that is what they do, correct me if I am wrong.

  • sick song. this guy's come a long way. although 2:29 sounded like a booboo.

  • i like the music symbol on the 12 fret!!

  • cool music!

  • will tabs be available? this is probably my favorite track on the album...

  • @joohj1187 I'm not doing tabs because not many people own 7 string guitars. If you really want them I can do them.

  • @craigd19 ah, makes sense. Tab it if you have the time, otherwise, I still have every other tab of yours to learn. But would love to see a video of "Crazy is Catching" that's a great piece that I haven't seen anywhere else aside from the album (nothing on youtube!)

  • Amazing work...does anyone know how his guitar is tuned?

  • @closeupeyes from here, it looks like it's in standard with the seventh string, which would be BEADGBe

  • @ChasHolling All of the tunings are on my website. This one is: BEBDF#AD You can get most of it to sound alright on a standard guitar...just leave out the low 'B'

  • keep the damn camera still!!!!!! im studying some tricks here.

  • Awesome instrument, melody and corresponding harmonies.

  • really nice song but whats the point behind the way the frets are put?

  • @Deusex63 Fanned frets can help with intonation because of the different scale lengths.

  • @Deusex63 Basically: Bass strings should have a longer scale length than treble strings, so as opposed to a standard fretted instruments, on a fanned-fret instrument, the nut and the saddle are set at an angle which satisfies the ideal scale length for the strings. Because of this, each string will have its own scale length, therefore the frets will be in different places. Obviously having seperate frets on each string is ridiculous, so the frets are slanted along the fretboard instead. :)

  • Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids

  • @WillieWallace92 hahaha

  • @WillieWallace92 Silly Craig, tricks are for Chris.

  • its just so awsome

  • beautiful!

  • am i the only one who dont realize that the guitar is 7 strings?maybe yes.

    what a piece!bravo!

  • Excellent guitar work sir!

  • Amazing!

  • Yes I do!

  • Wow! It has been forever! Good to have you back, Craig. ;)

  • Super playing Craig! Love the show in CIncinnati, Ohio.

  • wow, great job!

  • Love that bend.

  • for the numbskulls who are web-navigation deficient:

    Beneteau Guitars

  • @Spyder8477 ive always asked myself why people ask the question...loll

  • Please someone tell me the brand of acoustic!!!

  • @RockerRocco1 i think its a fender....

  • @ehhyoBillbO lmao

  • @RockerRocco1 :D its a beneteau

  • @ehhyoBillbO It's a breedlove...

  • @TimAndGuitar pretty sure its a beneteau my friend.

  • @TimAndGuitar Except it's a Beneteau.

  • love how all his guitars have that pretty little music note on the 12th fret

  • *obligatory yotube comment attmepting to say something witty about the people who disliked this video*

  • @HT3R21 Not that I know Craig well, but my impression of him from seeing him live is that many of his songs & titles are directed at friends or former friends - based on experiences or encounters that stood out to him during that relationship. This can make his song titles not as "obvious" as similar artists (i.e. Hedges' "Dirge" sounds like a dirge). Instead, his are much more personal.

I also tend to over-analyze things, so I could be way off base... but I don't think I am.

  • all you guys have it wrong. its just a really wide guitar at an angle!

  • awesome music craig.

  • first time I really like a Craig D'Andrea tune

  • oh my..... that is a beautiful guitar. sick playing too!

  • FINALLY a video where no one bothered to fuckabout with the guy saying IM FIRST! :D

  • @skate4lifebit it's a first!

  • 0:58 - 1:00 ! crazycrazy

  • My name may not be chris but i am now a fan of tricks. especially when the magic is being performed by candyrat musicians

  • Love this song it has the faint sound of ebon coast :)

  • Yes, I love tricks Craig

  • This is a melody I could hear at repeat for hours... Damn Craig... You a wonderful with a guitar! :D

  • I love your song! I like the 7 strings guitar! +10!!

  • I wish I could like this more than once.

  • I feel dizzy when I look at that guitar... Great song though.

  • If this is what you mean by tricks, then yes, I like them.

  • freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekin sic.

  • wow, great video, but always when I watch the fretboard I think that I´m stoned.

  • are you a son of Igor Presnyakov or he is a son of yours?
