Lord! When he passed where was former lead singer Clyde Brown? I believe he's still alive somewhere in Cincinnati, Ohio. 10 yrs now i've been looking for this complation that James Cleveland was singing in that goes like this. Storm clouds passin. I want to go home....ooooh... Storm clouds passin... take me home....chior(i see the lightning Flashing and i heard the thunder roll...) Storm clouds passin... i want a go home. Now through these lyrics the sounds of a thunder storm is in the background of this very song. this song might be under a chior fcting James Cleveland. if u knw the sng plz get at me. Thnx
@OneTrillNigga07 Whoooooo... you ain't lying about that. I was done with Elder Timothy Wright crossing over. He was such a huge influence on me. I'm still very hurt about him leaving.
Albertina will forever be missed. She has made a impact on gospel like no other. Now to Pasor Shirley Caesar comment..she loves Albertina much. Just because she did not record o Paved the Way cd does not mean she did not love her. She is very saught after and travel frequently..not to mention she is a Pasot and a wife. Lets the love of god show SAINTS
I wonda wha dat choir sound like? dey got Albertina Walker, Walter Hawkins, James Cleveland, Timothy Wright, Clara Ward, Mahalia Jackson, Joe May, Rosetta Tharp, the O'niel Twins, Julious Cheeks, Edna Gallmon Cooke...i kno whn its my time, i gonna see Jesus 1st, thn my brothers, thn i'll ask Charles Nix if i can get on da keys & play fo da choir a lil while...

I was always touched when I would watch this video..But watching now really does something to me! Gospel Music has lost TRULY one of the last Pioneers!! I could say so much but what I will say. RIP Queen of Gospel Albertina Walker. I know that Rev. Cleveland is welcoming her in at this very moment. God Bless you for your work down here. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord
You are and will always be Gospel Music's Queen. We thank and magnify GOD for sharing you with us and placing His Spirit in you. We love you. Praying for your entire family's strength.

@yamaho5 With all due respect, you must not attend black churches nor hear gospel music live a lot. The pianist's playing is quite appropriate. Gospel, jazz and the blues have always been related. ***Yes Aretha did love James Cleveland, but Aretha will not fly. She rarely appears on the west coast because of that. She had a bad experience on a flight once and vowed to never fly again. She did however release a statement on her lifelong friendhip with Rev. Cleveland.

the Queen of gospel did dat....... I feel every word thatz coming out of her mouth.. Look @ dat raw emotion, the holy ghost was runnin thru her.......
Albertina gon' repeat an ad-lib til HEAVEN gets the news! LOL! "I got another building....I got....another building.....I got another building" Now if you don't get the message after that, you are slow! LOL! WE ARE LIVING THIS LIFE TO LIVE AGAIN!!!!
529068, thanks for all these postings. Now that gospel has gone worldwide, it helps gospel fans in other countries (as well as the "digital age" of young people in the U.S.) to be able to see where gospel music actually came from.
These are the roots!
And yes, mrtyroneb, whoever is on that piano is killin'! (I wonder if it's Joey Jones?)
she was very heavy hearted when she sung that...that was hard for her because she was close to him...but the Lord really used her and the way she sings it from her heart and soul and her love of God that's why you feel it
All I have to say is THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!! AND ALBERTINA, SANG IT!!!!!!!!!! THAT WOMAN OF GOD MADE ME CRY, ESPECIALLY AT THE END WHEN SHE COULDN'T SANG ANYMORE. THE LORD WAS ALREADY MOVING HER SPIRIT BEFORE SHE SANG THAT SONG, BUT WHEN SHE STARTED SANGING, THE SPIRIT MOVED HER.
Thank you for posting this video. Mr. Cleveland was such an inspiration for gospel music. We were blessed to have him for as long as God allowed him to grace this earth.
Hey 529068 Do you know why Aretha Franklin didn't go to Rev. James Cleveland's wake and funeral? I learned he tought her how to play the piano and was good friends with her father the late Rev. C.L. Franklin.
I don't know for sure, but I do know that Aretha does not fly so that could be the reason. However she did release a statement paying tribute to Rev. Cleveland.
Thanks for filling me in. I wonder how did Aretha take it when she found out Rev. James Cleveland died. I learned they were close and they had like a brother and sister type of friendship.
awww, her heart was soooooooooo heavy...RIP James Cleveland and Albertina Walker

I want to know who that is KILLING that piano!!!! My God!!!

I thought she was going to shout at the end.

Oh, I'm sure she got her shout on! As she was going to her seat, the spirit(and the ushers..lol) are asisting her.

I have a question, do you have the part where the Caravans sang at the funeral?
churchboy1984 3 years ago
Yes. My mother told me that he recorded his own eulogy.

No, Rev. E.V. Hill preached the eulogy...I'm gonna post it soon.

Thank you for posting this video. Mr. Cleveland was such an inspiration for gospel music. We were blessed to have him for as long as God allowed him to grace this earth.
Bless him and Bernie Mac, Luther and Issac Hayes.

529068,
Did Aretha Franklin pay tribute? Do you have it if she did?
sibun7 3 years ago
Aretha did not attend.
529068 3 years ago
Hey 529068 Do you know why Aretha Franklin didn't go to Rev. James Cleveland's wake and funeral? I learned he tought her how to play the piano and was good friends with her father the late Rev. C.L. Franklin.
cleverboy07 3 years ago
I don't know for sure, but I do know that Aretha does not fly so that could be the reason. However she did release a statement paying tribute to Rev. Cleveland.

Thanks for filling me in. I wonder how did Aretha take it when she found out Rev. James Cleveland died. I learned they were close and they had like a brother and sister type of friendship.
