  • GlueBags mind your own Buisness. If its cheaper to club a seal in NF, so be it,

  • Why am i not surprised you are from the US,the world police, the country that never does anytthing wrong.Land of oportunity and freedom.

Clean up in your own fucking problems before you start judging others, just a piece of advice.

  • @seawolf1451 The vast majority of our work relates to US trade policy. We are addressing this issue because without US participation in the WTO, the WTO would collapse. The US has supported anti-environmental and anti-animal rights in the WTO. At this event, we circulated two petitions -- one to the presidents of Norway and Canada and one to US officials asking them to support a WTO pullout.

  • @AdamWeissman Well we are still hunting seals in Norway no matter what, this is to control the large amount of seals that has caused havoc to the ecosystems in the North sea in the the past few years, and i dont think it matters if you club them or shoot them, they still have to be controlled so they dont take completely over.

  • Right. Here's the food chain. Seal eat fish. Fish eat smaller fish. Wipe out the seals and you destroy the ecosystem.

  • Some people will never understand the food chain.

  • Please go home, bourgeoisie morons. Scandinavia does not care for your urban hipster sentimentality. Our hunt for seal and whale is based on a holistic approach to wildlife preservation. Do you have any idea how much these species tax their eco-systems? Yeah, human beings messed them up in the first place, but without intervention now, everything will just collapse.

  • @emilhenry

Your "holistic approach to wildlife preservation" amounts to pandering for votes from bored fishermen. Greenpeace's report "The Canadian Seal Hunt: No Management and No Plan", documents how the seal hunt has NOTHING to do with science-based management and is an unmitigated ecological disaster. Once you've done this, feel free to comment again.

  • @emilhenry - There's not a shred of science to support the notion that humans killing seals is stabilizing ecosystems. Talk is cheap. Let's see some data.

  • That's right we are strong and free, free to make our own natural resource management policies.

Back in 1978, Jacques Cousteau said about Canada's seal hunt:

"We have to be logical. We have to aim our activity first to the endangered species."

How many species are actually on the brink of extinction from habitat loss and don't get any support from the EU. At this point, sealing remains to be a sustainable hunt.

  • LMAO while eating a honking giant Big Mac. Dont those GlueBags look stupid??????

  • @TheJohhnnnnn

I've been a vegan since I was 12 years old. Nice try, though.

  • your choosing to protect the cute animals? why not the wrinkled frog, aruba rattlesnake, or the Asian wild ass???

  • Nifacey: Our organization focuses on opposing the use of free trade agreements to undermine animal and environmental protection. We are involved in this issue because of the WTO challenge brought by Canada and Norway against the EU seal product ban. If the WTO challenge related to a ban on the importation of products from a non-charismatic species, we'd be equally engaged.

  • @AdamWeissman What does a Canadian seal hunt have to do with environmental protection? The seal hunt doesn't damage the environment. Get your arguments in order before you step on your soapbox.

  • @ScooterMcBean

You should really do your homework before commenting:

I suggest reading Greenpeace's report "The Canadian Seal Hunt: No Management and No Plan", which documents how the seal hunt has NOTHING to do with science-based management and is an unmitigated ecological disaster. Once you've done this, feel free to comment again.

  • @AdamWeissman Greenpiece used the same baby seal images to raise funds from me when I was a teen in the early '70s. The Canadian seals are just as numerous as they've ever been so I suggest you put a bit more life experience under your belt before you try preaching to this choir.

  • @ScooterMcBean ps. that wasn't a typo

  • @ScooterMcBean

Talk is cheap. Where are your facts? Back your point with evidence, not rhetoric, or admit you are grasping at straws.

  • @AdamWeissman I'm not wasting my effort arguing the merits of a sustainable hunting practice with someone who is convinced that all hunting is inherently evil. On the other hand, if I knew that a very large seal population would help eliminate the problem of invasive species in the Great Lakes I might consider jumping on board. I'm only interested in supporting genuine ecological issues.

  • @nifacey

Our group works on any and all animal issues related to trade. In our slide presentation, we address the use of the cochineal beetle for dyes -- hardly charismatic megafauna.

  • @nifacey Haven't you noticed no one feels sorry for the cockroach? THese animal rights people have issues. THey only like "cute" animals. Bigots I tell ya!

  • @jm04206 -

We're addressing this issue because of the WTO case. Our organization deals with animal and environmental issues impacted by free trade agreements. We don't pick the species WTO cases address. We do plenty of work around animals that aren't traditionally considered "cute."

  • Canadá-Norwey ... FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just plain simple stupid.

  • Gee, that's deep. You've convinced me with your astute observations! Hell with this -- dolphin burgers and seal stew for everyone on me!

  • Thank you for your public education! Worldwide Fur Free Friday was a great success!

  • ...i know this dude. he's da only 'real' thing ; --> peru [/watch?v=34kuyuLrvUY ]
