  • One of my favorites. Linda makes the background just as exciting as the foreground.

  • Too bad Paul and Linda didnt do more duets. This is very lovely.

  • At 6 o clock in the morning, this is just an orgasm in my drunken ears!

  • Great song, one of my favourite tracks 2nd only to Duncan.

  • J'aime Paul Simon. En fait je l'adore. J'aime aussi Linda. et j'ai été un peu étonné J'admire Myriam Makeba mais n'empêche j'aime la version originale.

"May be I think to much" ? Certainly.

    Who can ? I can't. But I believe.

  • @JettRink50 Actually pretty much every song on Graceland is a masterpiece, as is the album in its whole.

  • give her the wings to fly through harmony

and she wont bother you no more.

Linda Rondstadt. I have indeed heard the voice of an angel

  • The best track from Graceland, hands down. Linda Ronstadt rocks (still).

  • @TheHardcase

I agree. Too bad she ruined a great career by mixing politics into her concerts. I was in Vegas once when she was booed off the stage. People were yelling "shut up and sing, dammit!"

  • It's the best one!!!!!

  • good

  • They harmonize together f***ing PERFECTLY.

  • @minamu8 - I love the way the two sound together. : )

  • Linda Ronstadt is amazing. Her voice never stops giving me chills. She can sing everything and anything and make it gold.

  • I can't stand Linda ever since she blasted Robin Quivers on the Tonight Show. But.... she does make this song what it is.... I love it! Great job Paul and Linda and Miriam Makeba too.

  • Please, could anyone tell me the brand of the guitar at 1:35? the model looks like a Telecaster but I doubt it is made by Fender.

    Thanks a lot in advance

  • @telefive I think that might be a paul reed smith telecaster. Not sure though.

  • I heard him sing this at a concert in Germany with Miriam Makeba. It was great, but can't compare to this version with Linda Ronstadt.

  • who's the background vocal?

  • @Bmgwak12 linda ronstadt

  • this whole album is phenomenal - one of my favorites still after all these years

  • used to walk under the african sky with you Nora, god i remember!!! thi is wht icall musik

  • NORA!! remember me and you walking under the african sky?

  • Graceland is my favorite album ever--I was a Simon and Garfunkel fan and then Paul's musical talent just seemed to explode on this album--love it!

  • @annattitude69 You are so right, I felt just the same. If you would have asked me before I wouldn't have believe this was possible in that way:)

  • paul simon is a miracle!!

  • i think i like born at the right time 1 of my most favs

  • It was this song that made me sit up and take notice of Linda Ronstadt, what a voice !!

  • Awesome Talents !

  • love it

  • Outstanding!! I love the lyrics and harmonizing... My mother loved this song...I can still see her clapping and swaying to this beautiful tune.

  • only Linda can create that magic!!

  • This was one of the first albums I heard as a kid, loved it so much that when I finally found a copy on CD I immediately bought a copy. Still love it

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was one of the first albums I ever had. I used to sit in my backyard by myself just listening to it over and over. 20 years later I still know all the words. I only hope to see him play live before he retires.

  • man is simply a genius

  • @braletoya riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!!

  • This is one of the tapes my dad played in the car on our 12 hour drives to Texas. I love this album, it sure brings back memories. I was the only kid my age that wasn't listening to P Diddy and Biggie. I appreciated Paul Simon and many other classics.

  • i was raised to paul simon and this was always my favorite song :)

  • my dad played this CD in his car all the time. this song is soo beautiful :)

  • great song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The second verse is actually ABOUT Linda Ronstadt as well. Those are her mission memories!

  • This is such a cool song!!! The woman's harmony is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!! I think of African desert planes every time I hear this song.

  • It is Linda Rondstadt. They did it together on Saturday Night Live once.

  • i grew up on paul simon i think hes a rear talent so thanks dad xx

  • MY MOST FAVORITE SONG EVER!!!!!!!!!!

  • My God, her backing vocals are unreal!!!

  • @Berthagertrude the harmony parts of her duet with Aaron Neville recorded a few years later ("I don't know much") are also at the same level. Sadly, Youtube doesn't do that tune justice as the live version I've managed to find they both sing flat.

  • @Berthagertrude

Oh, yeah! She MAKES this song

  • @Berthagertrude Indeed, I think they make the song.

  • Everytime i hear this song i wish i was under a tree in africa with animals walking by out in the desert. with the clear dark sky

  • Although I wasn't in Africa; I listened to this song over and over again while I was in Costa Rica!!

  • I totally fucking agree with the rodesokken82 who says the album is about the bassline. SUPERB and unprecedented, in my experience at least. AMAZING.

  • LOL @ Paul in the bath.

  • 1:36 "AMA KILL YO FAMILY!"

lol, awesome song. Loved it since i was a kid. :)

  • 2:54 nice picture guys

  • graceland is all about it's bassline. Really amazing listening to this one....love it

  • True. Bass guitar plays a big part of the success of this album.

  • Omg,I must learn to read text in it's completion. I read those words and went off.opps! lol

  • Can't help but respond to the ugly comments about money having any relation to this sound. Music is healing, uniting,a gift that can reach the soul. Why degrade what unites us all? It's a beautiful song, listen, enjoy, please leave it at that.

  • This song makes me imagine all the vast expanses of Africa and the wonderful wildlife , Lions, elephants and hyenas. Then I imagine tribal dancers. Fantastic song.

  • a do I. He's such an amazing writer that he can actually take you to Africa through his lyrics and music. H's such an inspiration. Music genius.

  • Instresting , I have always experienced the same as you discribed. Just exactly the same. I would listen to this song on mp3, when I was laying in bed and close my eyes.. and just exactly seeing that! Although I was in this high tree , high above the lions lol!

  • I was born in africa,am an african, and do not have to imagine africa!! hope you are having a wonderful World Cup 2010 in South Africa this year!! feeel it it is here! wish paul simon had played this song at the opening ceremony as well, ne! i'm having a vuvuzela time!

  • @MrMpariwa I am FOR the vuvuzelas! Even though I´m swedish! Wish I had one! Would have wakened the neighbourhood now...(yes, I know the game is over...).

    Have a good day!

  • I am speechless... This song is truly amazing!!! ... I haven't heard it in quite a while and now I found it here on youtube!! It gives me goose-bumps.... The lyrics are so magical!! This song inspires me to compose new songs!! Take care! Sunwarm hugs from Nenne in Stockholm

  • yes, please compose. the people need inspired songs from gifted musicians. this songs makes me cry of joy and i feel as part of the human family...

  • Great music always!

The voices of Paul Simon and Linda Ronstadt compliment each other and create very beautiful harmony!

    Thank you for posting!

  • Nice work!

  • I agree "Nice Work!" good song and pics!!

  • Crap, I accidently pressed 'mark as spam' on the previous post, sorry for that.

I never heard of this protest you're talking about. But I think it's ridiculous if one listens to his songs. Lyrics ofcourse...

  • There was a protest by some that Graceland was Paul Simon's profiting from the sufferings of S Africa under apartheid.

This is why I disagree: The Graceland album brought this horrible time to the attention of many who would not have been as concerned.

Graceland - above all in the circles I ran in those days - kept it all in the back of our minds. If anything, Simon's ablum furthered the cause.

    Brilliant song, btw.
