Great ideal! Dan, wants wrong? you don't seem like yourself.normally your more enthuse.Hope everything is ok.I got back on the raw foods again and I'm cold right now,and thought to myself should i cook a can soup real fast to warm me up.Then i was like NO, ill just go to youtube for ideals...and here I am.Thanks this is a great ideal Dan.Way to keep me on the raw foods :)
What a super idea for a winter meal. Thank you so much. This soup recipe came just in time for me since I am transitioning to a raw food lifestyle as winter begins. I was using miso as a broth for veggies but I will definitely try nettle tea.
Dear plant eaters , Chicken never gave oxygen , chicken never gave shade , loss of chicken never caused global warning them why eat good plant s and trees ? Try chicken go green :D ;)
Super helpful, thanks so much! It feels a little more difficult being raw vegan in the colder months because I tend to want something warm when I get in from work :) Thanks again, much love from Sweden!
@HibargerJ You can sprout your own beans in a mason jar, just cover with nylon leggings so they dont fall out when you rinse the jar with the beans in them every 24 hours to keep from fungus growing. then put them in sunlight on the 3rd or 4rth day for 15 minutes, then next day they will be perfect to eat! and you made sprouts yourself for cheap! you can do the same with alfalfa, which is nutrient packed to the core! like hella packed
I tried this recipe last night, and it was so darned good! Although I substituted shredded carrots and yellow squash for the bean sprouts. Will have a different version tonight. Awesome idea Dan! Thanks again.
Ok im a little confused about the cell wall thing...Dan you talked here about when the food is heated too high, that it comprimises the electrical force in the fibre because it bursts open the cell walls. However, isnt this the same reason ive heard about using a vitamix or blendtec to blend green smoothies to gain nutrition by bursting the cell walls open? Great video, love the soup idea! You look awesome and happy! amy
I will make this today on this cold and rainy day. Usually I just say "screw it, why am I doing this?" But this recipe is for real life people who want to eat the best nutrition. Keep these ideas coming for those of us who don't live in sunny CA with year round fresh veggies. Remember last summer when WalMart was the oasis. Think about us.
My Asian market doesn't have burdock.
Raw is 115*, which is nicely warm in the tummy. It doesn't have to be luke warm.
awesome Dan, thanks! Ingredients needed for this recipe: Nettle tea Basil Cilantro Sprouted Mung Beans Chives Sweet red pepper Jalapenos Burdock Ginger Lime pls. thumbs up for others to see, thx
i have a question for all the raw foodists out there: what is the huge draw to being 100% raw, versus being like 90% raw and 10% cooked, but still being vegan? i ask this because im transitioning to raw veganism from the SAD. i understand that cooking foods takes out the nutrients and life force, but for instance, i LOVE soup in the wintertime and i can't see giving it up. im seeing the vegan part of raw veganism being the most important part, i guess.
@AshyMishyMashy Make your soups from foods that increase nutrition when cooked, like carrots or potatoes, various beans and seeds, corn, quinoa, etc... To answer your question, the main difference is free radicals that are produced when cooking that are very harmful to your body.
@AshyMishyMashy I continue to make/eat winter squash soup. I find it much more palatable cooked - I'm careful not to over cook the squash - than I do raw squash. There is no reason to be restrictive to 100% raw in my opinion. I've done it, but have come to place of less restriction. Best of luck to you on your journey!
That is a bad ass recipe! I have struggled with raw and have fallen back to lightly steamed vegetables with rice, in addition to raw. This is the kind of food that can get me through Cleveland winters.
I can envision variants with galanga, raw bamboo shoots, or turmeric. That was a masterpiece.
I Love this recipe so much. Thank you so much for making these educational video's On How to eat healthy warm not over cooked vegetables! This was awsome Thank you Dan!
Dan, these recipes are wonderful!! I must say I would rather make a dish without the tea broth, and just drink the tea broth. :-) You give wonderful recipes and I want you to know how much we appreciate that and appreciate you!!! Thank you!!!
You can use many combinations of juices to create different tasting broths and just add whatever chopped up veggies you want -- want a creamy soup add an avocado.
Carrots, spinach, tomatoe concentrate -(powdered), celery, avocado - blend in food processor, and I warmed it in a pyrex dish over the stove at low temp - pyrex is very easy to control heat. Stir constantly checking temp to make sure does not get to hot. The min it is warm enjoy.
Looks delicious! I have basil and cilantro growing in pots in my kitchen window. and It's very cool and overcast there in England, so should be great for tonight.
Awesome video and awesome recepy, I took my right to moderate it a bit and added some celery and radish to it with some chili :D This is definately a great addition during the winter here in the cold north!!
Perfect timing Dan! I've been trying to figure out how to continue raw throughout the winter without freezing my buns off. This looks delicious! Thank you for posting!!
Dan this soup is awesome, I will for sure giving it a try .Never heard of nettle can' t wait to try it ...going to whole foods to shop for the ingredients to make the soup ...thank you .. you are such a light ...!!!
That looks so delicious! Also, nettle is so good for so many things, including the bones. If bean sprouts are not to be found, yes shredded carrots would be great. Actually, there are so many possibilities, that I'm very excited to try this. Especially now that the temp has dropped where I live, and not much fat on the body these days. Thanks for sharing that super idea Dan.
Looks awesomely delicious, Dan! Just FYI, as someone pointed out, it's pronounced "fuh". You haven't ever seen those restaurants in Seattle with names like "The Pho King"? Hehe.
@TheaDragonSpirit I have but there are different ones and different spellings. Which one is it. If someone can just type it in for me with the correct spelling, I will know which one it is. Thanks!
Thanks Dan, but those are not chives, those are called scallions, or green onion, chives a much more thing and have no roots. Great recipe, sometimes the Basil can come over very strong, I would slice it into julienne instead the whole leaves, again just food for thought.

Dan, the way you say pho soup is really pronounced fu like funny without the nny in the word funny-. Make sense? So it's fu AKA PHO soup.... An Asian gal told my hubby that.
Thanks for posting this Dan! It looks incredible! You make me want to run out and get some nettle tea right now! Warm food has been one of my hardest things since going raw.. I'm about 75% raw two weeks this coming Tuesday! I hope I loose some weight! Incredible how fast the changes are in just over a week. AMAZING! All thanks to you Dan :D
Looks really good...btw have you ever foraged for & used the wild burdock roots? Would sure appreciate a foraging vid for cold weather raw edibles! F V & L! :)

Soup Ideas: Beet Juice, Carrot Juice, Celery juice & Spinach (tomatoe optional) makes a great base broth for soups. add whatever else you want to it.
To make soups creamy add avocado
Dehydrate tomatoes: grind into a powder add carrot juice (or any kind of fluid ) makes a great base for tomatoee soups.
