You're right about restaurant jobs. I was a waiter for three years and although I did pretty well tips-wise, the stress of being on my feet for up to fourteen hours a day, dealing with asshole managers and asshole customers while trying to keep a smile on my face, a spring in my step and a positive, courteous demeanor was pretty intolerable. The easy/constant access to alcohol was probably the only thing that kept me going. Not good!
