Annuities should be banned. Worst investments on earth. Never lock your money in prison. Brokers sell them because they want to earn the gigantic commissions that the annuity company pays them. 5 - 14% commissions is why they push them.

While annuitized contracts are not the most desirable, there are variable annuities out there that will guarantee income for the rest of your life while still giving you access to you overlying account.

Your intentions may be good, but your fees are too expensive, your explaination of why they arent good for IRAs is at best poor, your explanation of mortality risk is not addressed, the turnover of 120% is not average. It is insurance. Insurance on an income stream that will never run out. It should never be your whole strategy, but part of one if your needs dictate. How did your "asset devotion" do with high correlations 2009? Yea, didnt think so. Annuities arent efficent txfr vehicles.

What this Joker doesn't tell you is that the living benefit (personal pension) is growing net of the fee and creates sustainable income for you in retirement. It helps you bridge the gap bet. your bills in retirement and the amount of income you have coming in from social security and/or pensions. These are built to insulate a portion of your portfolio from risks you will face in retirement that you don't foresee like longevity and sequence of returns risk. Great for those in or near ret.

Well this is what I'd suggest. What points are incorrect and do you claim that I have no idea and we will discuss those hear for everyone to learn from. Obviously you have some different ideas. Being in the industry and seeing the products in action and people who have them I think i'm pretty accurate. Maybe you have some unique insight we can learn from. I'll enjoy hearing your ideas. We can then do a conference call to discuss it and record for everyone as we debate.
