  • I can't press shift, f, 1.

    What's the problem?

  • @Gameguysak: aaaa, you mean Shift+F1 not Shift, f, 1.

  • Thank you! :)

  • thanks so much,I can now use that body rig I found

  • Every time I try import something when I press play my object doesn't show up, help please.

  • @DFBestSurvivor: send me a link to the 3ds file and I'll download it and try to import it here and see what happens.

  • @metalx1000 Why when I open something like the Twin Snake's character pack, they're in gray without the skin?

  • @reptile202: Could you maybe give a little more to go on here. A Link to the models you are trying to import. What format the models are. Obviously the textures aren't being loaded. But, why could be a few different reasons. Some formats have the textures build into the model, but a lot have the textures in a separate image file. Did your model come with texture files? or do you just have the model files themselves.

  • @metalx1000 Can a send you a screen shot of what the look skin look like? They come with in-color skin and clothes but they won't open with them.

  • @reptile202: sure, you can send me a screen shot. I don't know if I'll be able to help much with a screen shot, but I'll be glad to look at it. I might be able to help more if you would give me some info. You told me very little about what is going on. the more info you give me the better I can help you. And links to the files would be even better.

  • @metalx1000 I can send you the pack link, but youtube doesn't allow me to post links.

  • @reptile202: it will allow you to send me a link in a private message.

  • @metalx1000 If it helps, the pack is called METAL GEAR SOLID ABSOLUTE CHARACTER MODEL PACK

  • thanks for tutorial i would just like to say that in version 2.59 this way of doing it still works even though this video is a year old and a different version

  • dude i have a question, is there anyway to import into blender dwg files (from autocad9???

  • @NfourK: I just googled that for you. Looks like there is a script for blender 2.4 that will import both dxf and dwg files. In the newer Blender 2.5, there is an add-on it comes with that will import dxf files. You can use a program like QCAD to convert your dwg to a dxf and then import it to Blender.

The Addon for 2.5 does say this "Warning: Only a part of DXF specification is supported: Work in Progress"

But, I hope it works for you.

  • @metalx1000 thx, i just checked it and it seems that if i use that it doesnt give all the solid, better just wait for the final version, thx anyway!

  • thank you for telling us how to do this! It helped me so much.

  • gibt es ein script wo man .dff dateien (zb. gta ^^) im/exportieren kann?

    soory for german :]

  • how can you import an object with his parented children?

  • @MiiLegendary: Off the top of my head, I would say to make those object a group and import the group.

  • @metalx1000

srr but how do you make a group? (a)

  • @MiiLegendary: Select all the objects you want in the group and press "Ctrl+g" and choose "Add to New Group" Then, when you go to import the objects into a new project, import the Group.

  • can you make a tutorial about importing stuff not from other blender files but from

other locations: say a 3d game model to blender

  • @zade373: I already did. But all importable objects are listed under "File>Import". By default Blender can import about 25 different types of models (DXF, 3DS, OBJ, SVG, etc).

  • @metalx1000 no like how do you convert .o3d files to .obj files

  • @zade373: Oh, I have no clue. Never heard of a "o3d" Google will be your best bet. I'll do a quick search too.

  • @metalx1000 Okay thanks.

  • TY BRO

  • @camokidd132: What?

  • dude you are THE best ... i know that's easy ( well i know that now .. but ) i've been surching this all over the internet ... and finally i get how it workes :) Thx alot

  • @MagneticCrystal1: No problem. Be sure to check out the rest of my Blender Videos on my site.

  • how do you import a .blend file? I tried both colladas but they don't work. neither do the rest of them. Please help.

  • @zippybomb: I don't know what a "colladas" is, but you don't import a .blend file into another. That maybe your problem. You can import objects, mesh, lights, or scene. I'm guessing that maybe you want to import a scene. You do that just as this video shows. If I have completely mis-under stood your question, let me know.

  • Is it possible to import all of the objects on another blender file?

  • @NukenstanProductions: You can import a "Scene" or you can Group Objects and import the "Group".

    hope this helps.

  • @metalx1000 Thanks

  • Is it possible to import all of the objects on a file?

  • Is there a way to do this other than using shift F1 because my stupid Mac doesn't have any F# keys.

  • @frogjedi4: You could go to "File -> Append Link" Or something like that.

I could be wrong, but I think that on a Mac if you press something like "Command+F1" it will make the F1 key act like F1. That's what your special mod key on a Mac is call right? Command?

  • @metalx1000 Thanks, although the command-F1 works adding shift to the mix cancels out the command function. I'll just stick to the Append Link command. Thanks for the help it'll allow me to finish my current project a lot faster.

  • @frogjedi4: Good to hear. Good luck with your project.

  • what video recorder are you using? that looks like really good quality

  • @InstantLockerInvites: GTK-recordmydesktop

  • I can't import .nif files. Why? There is no option to import Net Immerse Files or Gambryo.

  • I am not familiar with nif files,

but I did a quick Google search of "nif blender" and the first link is some sort of plug-ins available for nif format.

I emailed you a link. I have not tried it myself, but hopefully it will help you.

  • By "emailed" I mean sent it to your through youtube.

  • Thx so much for this! Been learning Blender for a few weeks now. Especially focused on the game engine. Begun to find sometimes I feel like working on environments, or logic, & sometimes on char models which, considering walk/run cycles, and a number of other animation possibilities, a single model can become quite a time investment. And, just when I began to think, "Wow, this is fantastic...how do I use it somewhere else?! ... your tut is right there. The Blender community rocks!!!

  • thank you it helped me allot

  • Nice! Would you care to expand on this by mentioning the import of meshes made in other programs? .3DS, .obj, dxf?

  • All ready did one. Look through my past videos. I will also port it as a video response to this video.

  • S then shift+Z will scale on all axes except Z axes
